As an industry-led collaborative research consortium, CAM-I continues to produce the best of the industry solutions, techniques, methods & tools for over 35 years. We have reserved a block of rooms for $149 single/double. 6 CURRENT CAM-I INTEREST GROUPS Environmental Sustainability Interest Group The CAM-I Environmental Sustainability Interest Group aims to give value to all participants by providing practical support on establishing an integrated strategy toward environmental sustainability management. Through the use of CAM-I s body of knowledge surrounding cost, performance, and process management the interest group seeks to facilitate the understanding and measurement of environmental sustainability impacts within organizations. In order to initiate the project the interest group will focus on producing a series of executive summaries discussing how commonly used management tools and techniques can be applied to environmental sustainability. Some examples of management tools and techniques that will be covered are: Activity Based Costing/Activity Based Modeling, Balanced Scorecard, Target Costing, Business Process Engineering, Capacity Management, Benchmarking, Lean/Six Sigma, Value Chain Analysis, Change Management, and Risk Management. Chair: Anthony Pember, Phone or Anthony.Pember@pilbaragroup.com Target Costing Best Practices Our cause is to provide a vehicle for sharing target costing best practices among a diverse group of business sectors. The group was two papers underway. The first covers leading practices for accessing manufacturing cost data and recommendations for the future on integrated costing systems across the supply chain. The 2nd paper addresses how to prepare for commodity forecasts fluctuations in the target costing process. The future focus, under consideration, is a study of how the Target Costing process should be organized and implemented in various business model scenarios. We will examine the key dynamics that lead companies to a successful responsibility, accountability and authority structure. Working closely with the Performance Management team, the PBM team is exploring the use of maturity model assessment to bring awareness to organizations of the benefits and needs of process, at all levels of the organization. Exploring the differing needs of executive leadership, mid-level management, and front line employees, the team will focus on unifying the needs through end to end process management, Chair: Lisa W. Lean Enterprise The planned deliverable Pragmatic Lean - A Practical Guide to Lean Adoption will cover topics such as: Lean Principles and Lean Thinking; Value, Value Streams, Flow, Pull, and Perfection; Performance Management in a Lean Enterprise; Adopting Lean; and a number of topics of interest like Standard Costing; Intangibles and R&D; Lean Maturity Stages; Overhead and support functions; Shared Services and Monuments; Allocations and Cost Assignments; Products and Product Groups; Lean in the context of Lean Six Sigma; and Lean in the context of CAM-I SIG s for Target Costing, Process Based Management, Performance Management, and Planning and Budgeting. 7 Performance Management The group has developed a practical framework that will enable any organization to assess their level of performance management maturity. In addition, the framework recommends specific techniques to assist in areas of performance management that require improvement taking into consideration the organization s capability of effecting change. Phase I research is complete and now published jointly with CMA as an Emerging Issues Paper. Phase II research continues and will bring a more practical and concrete application of the framework by developing industry specific case studies. Chair: Derek Sandison, Phone or derek.sandison@pm2.ca Health Care This group is working to provide practical solutions for improving U.S. healthcare to healthcare stakeholders by customizing CAM-I s industry-leading process improvement and performance management techniques to address today s healthcare needs improving healthcare quality, reducing cost, and enhancing availability. One key effort will be to use these world-class methods and tools to help healthcare providers more effectively address the new public-private value chain. Chair: Clifton Williams, Phone or Clifton.Williams@gt.com Agile Analytics - Performance analytics are critical strategic and tactical tools and methodologies all organizations need to manage and improve performance. There are two primary branches of performance analytics, Enterprise and Agile. Agile Analytics provide rapid results, are flexible, easy to use and have a low cost. Current analytic trends are top heavy with enterprise-oriented approaches; however there is minimal collaborative support for agile approaches. We feel there is a need among member companies for analytics that provide fast response to specific business questions. The purpose of the Agile Analytics SIG is to define the Agile Analytics market and identify how member companies can use Agile Analytics to improve their strategic decision making.
