2 COURSE DESCRIPTION An inclusive and complete course on the various elements of recreational boat financing. On Sunday, the program opens up with an evening welcome reception at the hotel. Please plan to arrive at the hotel by 3:00pm. Monday and Tuesday morning will include a day and a half of hands-on learning to empower newcomers and seasoned colleagues alike with a broad understanding of the marine finance industry. NMBA s goal is to prepare industry lenders, collectors, operations specialists and sales personnel to recognize the potential and the risks of this valuable niche lending sector. With enrollment strictly limited, each participant is assured access to instructors. During evenings and breakouts, attendees can schedule private consultations with instructors to discuss areas of concern or situations that may be unique to their enterprise or marketplace. Each participant receives a comprehensive and educational reference manual. 3 NMBA MARINE LENDING WORKSHOP INSTRUCTORS Jim Coburn is the NMBA s Immediate Past President and Managing Partner at Coburn & Associates, LLC. He has over 30 years of banking experience with two major US national banks. Jim has directed consumer finance functions including dealer, direct, correspondent, floor plan, manufacturer relations, residential mortgage, credit card services and collections. Jim joined the NMBA since 1983 and has served on the Association s board since 1995 in executive officer and committee chairperson capacities. He is a founding Director of the Recreational Boating Industries Educational Foundation (RBIEF), Director/Treasurer of the Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA) and active with several banking, specialized finance and marine industry advisory boards/committees. Robin Cottmeyer Robin started her banking career in 1967 and has been involved in marine lending and operations since She was the Vice President and Senior Consumer Lender of Baltimore based Maryland National Bank from 1977 through 1989, the largest lender in the marine industry during that time period. From 1989 until her retirement in 2007, Robin provided consulting services under her trade name, Atlantic Credit and Consulting (Annapolis, MD), to numerous NMBA member banks and service companies. Robin is a Past President and Director of the NMBA, the current Chairwoman of NMBA s Education Committee, and the editor of NMBA s Marine Lending Workshop Manual. Jackie Forese is Director Emeritus of the NMBA. She has been involved in marine lending for over twenty two years, most of that time as Director of Leasing Operations for Grumman Credit Corporation, one of the founding members of the NMBA. Currently, she is President of Forest Green Associates, Inc., a financial services corporation specializing in insurance, employee benefits and receivables management. Jackie served as President of the NMBA from 1988 to 1992, and currently serves on the Conference and Education Committees. Don Parkhurst has over 31 years of banking and marine lending experience and is currently Senior Vice President and Business Line Manager of SunTrust Bank s Marine & RV Finance Division in Fairfax, VA. He previously headed up predecessor, Crestar Bank s, marine division from 1993 to 1998 and prior to that, he ran the consumer lending division of Continental Federal Savings Bank. Don earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Virginia and is also a graduate of University of Virginia s Graduate School of Retail Bank Management. Don is a Past President of the NMBA and has served as a director since He is also Treasurer of the Washington Area Marine Dealers Association and was previously President of the International Credit Association of Greater Washington. Don is an avid boater.

4 INSTRUCTORS (page 2 of 2) Mike Smith is co-founder and President of Global Marine Insurance Agency. Global is one of the leading marine specialty agencies in the country. Mike has been in the marine insurance business for 33 years and is a certified instructor in the field of yacht insurance for the Michigan Association of Insurance Agents. In addition to currently serving on NMBA s Board of Directors and on the Grow Boating Task Force, Mike is a regular speaker for insurance, lending, and marine trade groups, and has written numerous articles for various marine periodicals. Tom Thornton, based in Buffalo, NY, is a manager in the Customer Asset Management group for M&T Bank, a Fortune 500 Company and a top 20 national bank. Tom possesses 26 years of collections, repossession, remarketing, and lease EOT servicing experience. He is responsible for all facets of repossession/remarketing for both consumer and commercial portfolios. During his tenure, Tom has implemented specialty based auctions dedicated to recreational vehicles, boats, power sports and commercial products, along with a vast array of retail brokers in order to successfully liquidate this wide variety of collateral. As a member of the National Marine Bankers Association, M&T Bank has a strong partnership with industry experts who specialize in marine and recreational vehicle liquidation. Karen M. Trostle, President of Sterling Acceptance Corporation, an Annapolis based service company has been in the marine finance industry for over 26 years. Karen worked at Maryland National Bank from and in the latter part of her career with the bank was a Vice President in charge of Sales of the 12 Marine Loan production offices nationwide. She left the bank in 1987 and formed Sterling Acceptance Corporation which currently operates four regional offices on the east Coast specializing in Marine and RV. Sterling Acceptance has been a member of NMBA for over 12 years and is also a member of NMMA and AVDA. Karen attended the University of Maryland and graduated from the Retail Finance Banking School at the University of Virginia in She currently serves as President of the NMBA.

Cancellation Policy: A $100 cancellation fee will be assessed through February 8th, 2013; no refunds are available after that date. Location: All classroom activities will take place at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 1100 SE 17 th Street, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Travel: The Ft. Lauderdale airport is a 10-minute cab ride to the hotel. Lodging: Registrants are responsible for making their own hotel arrangements.
