11 GENERAL The Miubihi i deigned o provide coninuou and clean elecrical power o a criical load. Addiionally he UPS monior power condiion affecing he load. In he even of an inpu power failure, he UPS will upply power o he criical load for he pecified baery ime. If he inpu power i no reored promply, back up power from he UPS baery permi he orderly hudown of equipmen uppored by he UPS. The UPS i imple o ar-up, operae and mainain. The i available in Four kva ize - 80, 100, 150 and 225kVA. Specificaion for each kva model appear in Secion 1.5. The principle of operaion decribed herein are applicable o all model. Thi manual provide an overview of he 9900A SERIES componen and heir funcion. The appearance and purpoe of operaor conrol and indicaor i decribed wih procedure for operaion, ar-up, hudown and baic mainenance included. MITSUBISHI

12 DEFINITIONS UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM (UPS) - All componen wihin he UPS Module Cabine and aociaed baerie ha funcion a a yem o provide coninuou, condiioned AC power o a load. UPS MODULE CABINET - The meal encloure which conain he Converer / Charger, Inverer, Saic Tranfer Swich, Inernal Bypa line, operaor conrol, and inernal conrol yem required o provide pecified AC power o a load. UPS MODULE - The Converer / Charger and Inverer aemblie which, under he direcion of he inernal conrol yem and operaor conrol, provide pecified AC power o a load. INVERTER - The UPS componen which conain he equipmen and conrol neceary o conver DC power from he Converer / Charger, or he baery, o AC power required by he criical load. CONVERTER / CHARGER - The UPS componen which conain he equipmen and conrol neceary o conver inpu AC power o regulaed DC power required for baery charging and for upplying power o he Inverer. STATIC TRANSFER SWITCH - The device which connec he criical load o he bypa line when he Inverer canno upply coninuou power. BYPASS LINE - The line which conduc elecriciy direcly from he inpu power ource o he criical load during Mainenance or whenever he UPS i no compleely operaional. AC INPUT POWER - Power provided by he elecrical uiliy company, or auxiliary generaor, which i conneced o he UPS for upplying he criical load. BATTERY - The rechargeable baery ring which upply DC power o he inverer o mainain coninuou AC power o he load during AC inpu power failure condiion. MITSUBISHI

13 OPERATION OVERVIEW The UPS provide wo power pah beween he uiliy ource and he criical load. Figure 1.1 how he pah for normal operaion, wih he load powered from he inverer.
