13 DIPLOMA OF PERSONAL INJURY MANAGEMENT [ FNS50110] FEE DURATION MEMBERSHIP OUTCOME A$1060 per module, A$250 PIBF51, Five modules: Each study period lasts 12 weeks. (Students are able to study more than one module per study period.) Senior Associate CIP The Institute s Diploma of Personal Injury Management is designed for personal injury management claims and underwriting personnel and provides Senior Associate Certified Insurance Professional (CIP) membership of the Institute. The Diploma develops the technical knowledge and skills required to provide quality personal injury management for all schemes and in all jurisdictions in Australia, including the self-insurance environment. COURSE CONTENT health and safety (WH&S). It examines current issues in workers compensation and CTP as well as stakeholder relationships. Students will learn about the management of claims under the workers compensation and CTP schemes, identification and underwriting concepts and workplace health and safety (OH&S) in the personal injury lines market. PIM502 Personal Injury Law and Regulation Looks at the relevant acts that impact on workers compensation and CTP in each of the jurisdictions in Australia and the key legal elements and compensation principles relevant to claims. Students will look at the impact of the Privacy Act, the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and the workplace health and safety legislation in relation to personal injury claims. Students will also examine the role of the supervisor in a workers compensation and CTP environment. PIM504 Personal Injury Case Management Examines the role of the case manager and the case management process, the medical environment, the injury management process and the return to work process. This module provides an overview of case management techniques and the medical environment, including terminology, basic human anatomy, common injury types and typical duration of treatment. Students will also learn about dispute resolution processes and negotiation skills, injury management and treatment plans, rehabilitation and return to work plans and rights and the obligations of parties in personal injury management claims. FURTHER EDUCATION Completion of the Diploma provides credit towards the Bachelor of Business (Insurance) at Charles Sturt University (CSU). COURSE MODULES PIM501 Personal Injury Statutory Framework Provides a snapshot of personal injury lines and the different workers compensation and compulsory third party (CTP) schemes operating in Australia. The module covers a history and overview of the political, social and economic landscapes, including that of work PIM503 Personal Injury Claims Management Looks at how and why organisations and insurers use claims data and reports to review and measure claims performance. Students will learn about injury notification, claims lodgement and the issues to consider in determining initial liability for personal injury claims. The module also covers personal injury claims investigations and management, including the provision of benefits to injured parties, ongoing liability reviews and the role of service providers. This online module describes the role of good customer service in building and maintaining the profitability of your organisation. Prospective candidates prepare and submit a portfolio detailing their work history with examples of their thought leadership, industry involvement and contribution. Expressions of interest in the program may be made to the Institute for consideration. Applicants should, at a minimum, fulfil the following criteria: a minimum of 15 years in the insurance/finance industry current ANZIIF membership, membership having been continuous for the last five years recognised leader in their field usually operating at CEO, Executive Management, Divisional, Regional or State Manager level applicants may be specialists in their field and/or owners, managers or consultants who have practised for ten years or more and have a high degree of skill and expertise be a respected member of the insurance and financial services community who leads by example with integrity and commitment to high standards of professionalism.
