Yu will be r have already cmpleted new hire paperwrk assciated with yur emplyment with EMBERS Staffing Slutins. Yu will be asked t sign ff n the Emplyee Cde f Cnduct. A hardcpy f the Emplyee Handbk can be made available upn request. 2. Orientatin specific t yur assigned jb will take place at time f ffer and/r at the wrk site. 3. Onging: EMBERS Staffing Slutins is cmmitted t giving yu every resurce necessary t allw yu t be successful at whatever client yu wrk fr. Thrugh cmmunicatin, training and develpment we will cntinue t update yu n changes and additins t this handbk and Cmpany plicies and prcedures as needed. Emplyee Status/Benefits As an emplyee f EMBERS Staffing Slutins, yu will be classified in a temprary wrk class and will receive vacatin pay in accrdance with yur hurs wrked and wage earned n every cheque. Health Related Services On-the-jb injuries and illnesses must be reprted immediately t the wrksite supervisr, first aid attendant (if applicable), and an EMBERS Staffing Slutins representative. Yu will be given further instructins at that time. If yu are injured r becme ill as a result f yur wrk, yu may be eligible t ESS Emplyee Handbk

3 receive insurance benefits as prvided under the Wrkers Cmpensatin Bard f BC laws. EMBERS Staffing Slutins pays all csts fr prviding this insurance prtectin. It is imprtant that yu immediately reprt and dcument any accident r injury that ccurs n the jb t yur supervisr. Schedules, Lunches and Breaks Yur lunch and break schedules will be assigned n the jb site that yu are wrking, but will always be dependent upn business requirements. Please remember that yur peers rely upn yur prmpt arrival t wrk and return frm breaks and meals-just as yu depend n their prmptness. It is imprtant t be punctual at all times. Yu shuld be at yur psitin AND READY t begin yur jb at yur SCHEDULED start time. Attendance Attendance is a crucial key t yur success with EMBERS Staffing Slutins. It is mandatry that yu are present and n time every day yu are scheduled t wrk. Remember, yu are part f a team, and yur tardiness r absence affects yur team and the mrale f yur teammates at the cmpany yu are n assignment with. Hurs f wrk will be determined by the client. An absence is defined as ttal time absent frm jb. Any and all absences r tardiness which is defined as arriving late t wrk r back frm schedule breaks r vilatins f schedule adherence (deviating frm yur assigned schedule) may result in the remval frm yur assignment with EMBERS Staffing Slutins and may bar yu frm future placement with EMBERS Staffing Slutins. We want yu t be successful, s it is very imprtant that yu are prepared t be a reliable, prfessinal and cmmitted member f ur team. We understand that mst emergencies and illnesses are unfreseen. If yu must miss scheduled wrk fr any reasn, and are unable t give advanced ntice, yu must cntact an EMBERS Staffing Slutins Representative immediately and yur n-site supervisr. Please make every attempt t ntify EMBERS Staffing Slutins as sn as pssible s that arrangements can be made t cver yur area. When yu d nt shw up fr wrk, yu nt nly take away yur pprtunity fr emplyment, but the pprtunity fr anther individual t receive wrk. Failure t call will be cnsidered a N-Call/N-Shw and may result in immediate dismissal frm EMBERS Staffing Slutins. Emplyee Cnduct EMBERS Staffing Slutins is cmmitted t a Standard f Excellence. Our clients and emplyees expect the highest standard f ethics, hnesty and prfessinal behavir. Restrictin, delay r errr in prcessing cmpany r client wrk. This includes withhlding f wrk in prgress; refusal t d regularly assigned tasks, r deliberate interference with anther emplyee s wrk. False statements made n emplyment applicatins, backgrund checks, educatin r previus emplyment, time recrds r any frmal r infrmal dcument f EMBERS Staffing Slutins r client f EMBERS Staffing Slutins. Assault, attacks r threats f bdily harm against thers while n any part f cmpany r client premises. Use f prfanity anywhere n client prperty Disclsing cnfidential and prprietary infrmatin t unauthrized third parties. ESS Emplyee Handbk

Misusing trade secrets, custmer lists and ther cnfidential r prprietary infrmatin. Crrecting, r making changes t the payrll system fr anther emplyee. Being rude, argumentative r disrespectful t a custmer, fellw emplyee r supervisr. Destructin, damage r defacement f cmpany r client prperty r the prperty f thers. Intentinally negligently perfrming duties r willfully hindering r limiting prductin. Sending persnal s r making persnal phne calls during wrk hurs. Access t r phne shuld be fr business purpses ONLY. Walking ff the jb withut first cntacting an EMBERS Staffing Slutins representative and withut just cause is cnsidered vluntary terminatin. If an emplyee is terminated all fllwing pay cheques wed can be picked up in the EMBERS ffice r mailed t the address the emplyee has listed n file upn request. An exit meeting will be cnducted with emplyees wh are terminating their relatinship with EMBERS Staffing Slutins. Harassment EMBERS Staffing Slutins strives t prvide a wrk envirnment that is free frm discriminatin and harassment where all emplyees are able t devte their full attentin and best effrts t the jb. Any frm f harassment f r by any emplyee, supervisry r nn-supervisry, will nt be tlerated. Harassment includes, but is nt limited t, ffensive language, jkes r ther verbal, written, graphic r physical cnduct relating t an emplyee s race, sex, religin, clr, natinal rigin, age, disability r any ther factr prtected by law. Similarly, cnduct which creates an intimidating, hstile r ffensive wrk envirnment r interferes with the persn s jb perfrmance and/r emplyment pprtunities will be cnsidered harassment. Any emplyee wh feels he/she is being harassed r wh has witnessed harassment f ther emplyees at wrk, shuld bring the matter t the attentin f an EMBERS Staffing Slutins Representative. Cmplaints f harassment will be thrughly and prmptly investigated and treated as cnfidential t the extent pssible. N emplyee will be subjected t retaliatin by EMBERS Staffing Slutins because he/she has reprted what he/she believes t be an incident f harassment. If an investigatin cnfirms that harassment has ccurred, EMBERS Staffing Slutins will take crrective actin, including immediate terminatin f emplyment. Investigative and Cmplaint Prcedures Any emplyee wh believes that he/she is being harassed shuld immediately reprt any incidents t his r her immediate supervisr at the EMBERS Staffing Slutins ffice. In the event that an emplyee believes that his/her immediate supervisr is invlved in the harassment, r that a previusly reprted cmplaint has nt been satisfactrily reslved, the emplyee may file a reprt with the EMBERS CEO. Prtectin Against Retaliatin The filing f a harassment cmplaint with the Cmpany and r the participatin in a harassment investigatin cnducted by the cmpany will nt have a negative impact n an emplyee s emplyment status, nr will participatin in a sexual harassment investigatin cnducted by an utside agency have a negative impact n an emplyee s emplyment status. Smking Plicy Smking is nly permitted in the designated areas during designated breaks as established by yur wrk site management. Misuse f Cmpany Assets All f the EMBERS equipment, i.e., cmputers, telephnes, etc. is t be used fr management apprved business purpses nly. The misuse, altering r deletin f any client r cmpany sftware is cnsidered a serius ffense and may result in disciplinary actin, up t, and including terminatin f emplyment. ESS Emplyee Handbk

5 Safety Health and safety cnditins and practices n the jb assignments are recgnized as mutual bligatin and respnsibility f the cmpany and its emplyees. Shuld yu bserve an unsafe cnditin, please infrm yur supervisr and EMBERS Staffing Slutins immediately. General Safety Rules t fllw include but are nt limited t: Obey visual and audi warning systems immediately Keep wrk areas clear f bstructins at all times Keep aisles, stairs and exits clear Obey psted instructin signs n machines and elsewhere Observe wet flr signs. D nt walk n wet areas D nt remve guards r safety equipment frm machines and equipment Running, jumping and hrseplay are prhibited Safety glasses and glves must be wrn when necessary N fd r drink is allwed in wrk areas If an emplyee has dcumented lifting limitatins, he r she shuld never lift mre than his / her limit. Prper lifting methds shuld be utilized at all times On cnstructin sites, beying the safety directin f the Cnstructin Safety Officer and/r the site supervisr is mandatry Maintaining a gd safety recrd is an imprtant gal f EMBERS Staffing Slutins. Yu can help by sptting and reprting ptential hazards. If yu are invlved in a wrk-related accident r sustain an injury f any degree, yu must reprt it immediately t yur site supervisr, first aid attendant (if applicable), and an EMBERS Staffing Slutins representative. Yu will be required t fill ut an Accident Reprt. If the injury is minr, first aid may be administered and based n the injury yu may be allwed t return t wrk. If the injury requires mre than rutine first aid, the supervisr will refer yu t EMBERS Staffing Slutins. It is imperative that yu cntact a member f EMBERS Staffing Slutins prir t accepting any changes in jb duty r assignment. EMBERS Staffing Slutins will cntact a client representative t determine the jb duties and the emplyee s safety needs befre making any adjustments t yur assignment. EMBERS Staffing Slutins must make the final decisin n changing any r all f yur assigned duties. Disciplinary Actin EMBERS Staffing Slutins expects emplyees t be prfessinal and t perfrm jb duties t the highest standard at all times. When EMBERS Staffing Slutins determines that an emplyee s jb perfrmance, cnduct r behavir des nt meet the expectatin f the cmpany, the emplyee may be subject t disciplinary actin. This actin is at the discretin f EMBERS Staffing Slutins. Where EMBERS Staffing Slutins deems disciplinary actin apprpriate, EMBERS Staffing Slutins may utilize ne r mre f several frms f disciplinary actin, which may include and nt be limited t verbal, written warning, prbatin and/r immediate terminatin. Examples f unacceptable perfrmance, cnduct, r behavir which may result in disciplinary actin are set ut belw. This list is nt cmplete r all-inclusive. EMBERS Staffing Slutins reserves the right t discipline emplyees fr reasns nt specified belw and fr reasns different in nature r seriusness frm thse set ut belw. Attentin t efficiency and ecnmy and cperatin with staff will ensure yur success. Cncerns r issues abut the jb r uncertainty f jb duties shuld be immediately discussed with EMBERS Staffing Slutins. Wrk habits, behavir, attendance, perfrmance and any ther relevant factrs must be maintained at the apprpriate standard. Appearance and Attitude EMBERS Staffing Slutins takes pride in the relatinships that we have built in the cmmunity and in the emplyees we have chsen t represent us. Prper dress and curteus behavir help assure ur business partners that we are cmmitted t prfessinalism and prmte harmnius wrking envirnment. Appearance shuld be neat, prfessinal, clean and in gd taste. Yu may be required t wear specified clthing which will be reviewed prir t placement n an assignment. Persnal Prperty EMBERS Staffing Slutins is nt respnsible fr lst, stlen r damaged persnal items brught t wrk. Such a lss wuld have t be cvered by yur wn persnal prperty insurance, and will nt be cvered by EMBERS Staffing Slutins prperty insurance. Persnal Infrmatin Changes Be sure t ntify EMBERS Staffing Slutins if yu change yur name, address, telephne number r wish t change yur emergency cntact infrmatin r yur tax infrmatin. These changes will be made immediately upn receipt. Pay Prcedures Regular payday is Friday. The pay perid will begin n Sunday and end n Saturday. Yur ttal hurs wrked per week fr that pay perid will be entered n the fllwing Friday and pay cheques will be available at EMBERS n Friday after 1pm and befre 6pm. Time sheets must be received at EMBERS Staffing Slutins by clsing time 5pm Mnday in rder t receive yur pay cheque n the fllwing Friday. With yur new hire paper wrk yu will receive a timesheet that yu are respnsible fr tracking and cmpleting each week. A timesheet is nt cnsidered cmplete until yu have received yur immediate supervisr s signature in the designated area. In additin, yu are respnsible fr drpping ff, ing, r faxing yur cmpleted timesheet t EMBERS Staffing Slutins ffices by clsing time Mnday 5pm in rder t receive yur paycheque n Friday. All active emplyees are able t pick up pay cheques between the hurs f 1pm and 6pm n Friday and during nrmal business hurs thereafter. If a pay cheque is nt picked up by an emplyee befre the fllwing Friday, the emplyee can request that their cheque be mailed. It is imprtant that yu verify the mailing address with an EMBERS Staffing Slutins representative befre the pay cheque is placed in the mail. EMBERS Staffing Slutins is nt respnsible fr any express mail delivery service r delay in mail service. All mailed cheques will be sent by standard Canada Pst. Certain deductins frm yur pay cheque are made as required by law: ESS Emplyee Handbk

7 Federal Incme Tax Deductins Prvincial Incme Tax Deductins Emplyment Insurance (EI) Deductins Canada Pensin Plan (CPP) Deductins Hliday pay f 4% will be calculated and added t each pay cheque. If yu have any questins cncerning payrll r yur pay cheque, please cntact the EMBERS Staffing Slutins ffice. Overtime Emplyee s will be paid at 1.5 times the regular hurly bill rate fr wrking ver 8 hurs in a day r 40 hurs per week, r at 2 times the regular hurly bill rate fr wrking ver 12 hurs in a day. Overtime is cmputed n hurs actually wrked which excludes hurs paid fr hlidays, sick and/r vacatin, as they apply. Overtime must be apprved in by the wrksite supervisr. ESS Emplyee Handbk

8 Emplyee Cde f Cnduct Emplyee Cpy Please be reminded that EMBERS Staffing Slutins is yur emplyer and that the fllwing plicies are in place: 1. Attendance: In a situatin where yu are unable t attend wrk (due t illness r anther extenuating circumstance) r if yu will be late t the wrk site yu must cntact by phne EMBERS Staffing Slutins as well as yur supervisr n the wrk site preferably 12 hurs in advance. Dug ( ) r Yvee ( ) can be reached 24/7 in case f emergency. It is nt permissible t leave a wrk site during a shift withut the prir apprval f an EMBERS Staffing representative. If yu feel that a site is unsafe please infrm us directly. Emplyees must arrive a minimum f 10 minutes befre the intended start time n any jb site. If yu d nt cntact Dug r Yvee with adequate reasn befre missing a scheduled shift, and d nt shw up n site at the scheduled time, a re-evaluatin f yur services with EMBERS will ccur immediately. 2. Call backs: If yu are asked by yur site supervisr t return t a site the next day, yu must cntact Dug ( ) r Yvee ( ) t let them knw. This prevents cnfusin in regards t availability. 3. Availability: It is yur respnsibility t cntact EMBERS Staffing Slutins with any change in yur availability. In rder fr us t knw yu are available t wrk, yu must call the ffice at 7am each mrning in rder t put yur name n ur availability list. If yu receive full-time emplyment r n lnger wish t wrk fr EMBERS, please infrm us as sn as pssible. 4. Time Sheets: EMBERS wrk week runs frm Sunday-Saturday inclusive. It is the respnsibility f each emplyee t have a fully-cmpleted and signed timesheet received at EMBERS Staffing Slutins by 5pm n Mnday fllwing the wrk week which ends the previus Saturday. If yu are unable t deliver the timesheet in persn then the timesheet can be faxed ( ), phtgraphed r scanned and sent t inf@embersvancuver.cm. It is necessary that yu cnfirm that the ffice has received yur timesheet by calling r reply. If we d nt receive yur timesheet we cannt pay yu. 5. Prfessinal Behaviur: EMBERS Staffing Slutins emplyees are ur ambassadrs and are expected t reflect a prfessinal image at all times. Emplyees must be curteus with their cwrkers and site supervisrs and act apprpriately n all wrk sites. At n time while n a wrk site shuld yu ask a c-wrker r site supervisr fr an advance r t lend yu mney. 6. Equipment Lan: All equipment brrwed must be returned n date agreed upn. If nt returned by that date, the cst t replace the equipment will be deducted frm the fllwing paycheque. 7. Standard Emplyment Agreement: Fr an EMBERS emplyee t becme eligible t be hired full-time under an EMBERS assciated wrk site, they must first wrk 480 hurs (3 mnths). After these 480 hurs, the EMBERS assciated wrk site can chse t hire the emplyee directly. ESS Emplyee Handbk
