3 Knowledge is Power Being educated about SEO will help you understand if it's exactly what you want. We talk in this short ebook about what SEO entails. This ebook does not address much about that content you ll be pushing out which is just as important. So, let s move forward now with SEO: Let s start with what can go wrong that way if you see yourself in this you can stop reading right away! What Can Go Wrong? Let me share what has gone wrong for us when we ve started an extensive SEO campaign in a high competition market: (I take the blame for not fully educating my clients) A year turns into 2 months We get started with a year contract and 2 months in (this has happened twice) they don't see the homepage result and quit. it now!!! This process takes time, sometimes it can happen more quickly than others depending on the competition for the home page. Go put in a search related to your field and see how many websites are vying for that position. Do If the competition is low, it won t take as long and it won t be as expensive. The payment schedule is too slow We pay a huge team up front for the work, invoices need to be paid monthly and on time SEO is a hard hitting consistent effort We need a tight 1 month turn around payment schedule so we can keep paying the team to keep the efforts hard and consistent until the site hits (once it hits you can let up but you may have to do some work here & there).
4 Lets Begin Your SEO Education There are a lot of ways to hit the top of Google! In reality to get to the hardest positions with high competition, you need both Natural Search & Pay Per Click. TIP: Watching Yahoo results is good too, they re 3rd biggest search engine with YouTube 2nd, and if you begin popping there you ll likely hit on Google next. Why Google? We re looking at Google in this ebook, because at this time it is still the number one place where people are looking for goods, services and mainly an answer to a question or learn something. Let s make SEO content simple: Relevance Once they find you at the top, does your site explain the answer to their question or find them what they re looking for? Resource Is your site a great resource for people searching? Would they come back again and again when they need answers to more questions that are related to the field you re in? TIP: Give away your best tricks & tips, this builds trust and creates a relationship to your potential client. Pay Per Click: What is it and How Long Does it Take? You can pay for home page results under any search term Pay Per Click will will get you into the paid search results at the top immediately TIP: Pay Per Click has advantages in that it also gives your own website better "natural search results." So when you start working to attain top positions in Natural Search, Google
5 recognizes your site as legitimate because of having run on going pay per click campaigns, we always recommend that this is part of the work. TIP: An older domain that has a long registration period like 3 5 years gets better SEO, Google sees it as more legitimate. Natural Search: What is it and How Long Does it Take? Natural Search is the section of a Google search where you do not pay for it and it's clicked on more than pay per click search results. High Competition Results take Up to a Year and Sometimes More Natural search, depending on the competition, can take up to a year. One group of clients I work with is Personal Injury Lawyers, one of the most high competition markets and it does take about a year to get a site to the top of the searches from being on a lesser page like page 8 or so. Breathe! It takes time. TIP: Meditate relax and envision good results!
6 Why Does Natural Search SEO Take So Long? Authority / Education Does your site teach us something? Education: Natural search takes a long time because you need to have a site that is a relevant "authority" site. Authority: Your site needs to be a place that people will visit again and again for high quality educational information about your field. TIP: Share the inside tips of your industry HEY? I m doing it now! It takes a team of thousands of people You want/need boat loads of eyes looking & clicking You literally need thousands to like your pages on social media, share your amazing content everywhere leave comments on your blog articles, and visit your site from loads of different IP addresses. TIP: Get your office and everyone you know to share your content. Starting at home is the best way to understand it. Is your site full of great helpful content? That is what Google wants on the top. In this ebook I m not talking much about content but you need to know about creating educational content and about writing amazing headlines. TIP: Your headline is the first place people will want or not want to click on Google.
7 FYI: Conversion Rate TIP: What Conversion Rate means is that someone has really loved your content and decided to contact you! Is your content that good? Will they share it? What do we have to do to make your site worthy of that kind of world wide attention by thousands of people? On Page SEO Keywords we're shooting for in headlines & body of the text in your site. We also need your site to have the right plugins to be sure that we re delivering the right headline to Google so once you hit they ll click. really targeted to people. TIP: There are rules about where to insert keywords people are not keywords be sure your writing is Blogging In House Bloggers need to be educated to use the methods that Googles search engines will recognize. TIP: Lots of bloggers waist time blogging without using the right keywords so no one is reading the articles. Check your Google Analytics and see! Listing Getting the site listed in as many places as you can starting with most important (these are not an accurate or complete list they're just off the top of my head to give you an idea of Listing Sites ) your specific industry will also have listing sites you need to show up in: Google Places Google Plus YouTube Linkedin
8 Twitter Facebook DMOZ.org Yahoo Local Business Listings Hotfrog Yelp Yellow Pages TIP: Listing your site makes Google think you re more legitimate because you re willing to be listed. Filling out your listings completely is very important particularly (of course) Google. Share Like Comment Once you have this great educational material that should be a great site for people to use and refer to, we need to get it noticed by real people. TIP: ((I don t know about you)), but I rarely comment or share content. Make the content that good! Web PR: (Back Linking) Your team of thousands The first "round" of this work is expensive and hard! We get thousands of people to read your blog articles, share them on social media, and repost them on their own high PR blogs. TIP: When we re helping you, this first round of people are not necessarily your clients, they're a group of real people in our network that are helping for a price. If you can t afford us to help you, get everyone in your world to read, like, share and comment on your content. Do an blast! News Sites = High PR and Great for SEO News articles are really good! The better the news site is, whether we're blogging on another site about you, or you have an article written up on a major news site, the faster your own search results will happen. TIP: If you have Huffington Post (or similarly popular news site) write an article about your company, and they put a link to your website you're gold!
9 Social Media Shares Google now sees social shares as very helpful links to your website content helping you gain recognition and get better SEO. TIP: Do not be salesy or talk about yourself! In your first meeting, whether on Google, social media or a new article, they want tips and advice, they want to know about what your firm does and how they do it, not who you are, your name, your expertise, awards etc. That comes later once they want to work with you. Why does this work? This attention from various places (IP addresses) will show Google that your site is becoming popular and Google begins ranking your site better. TIP: Look to see what your competition is doing? Are they filled with fresh relevant, newly updated educational content? Does your site teach more about what you do? See how your content compares. Now you know the resources that go into SEO. But how do we do this? And what is our process for helping you? Success Stories My own business is a success story about how this works! So I have a lot to say about this process. I ve also helped build companies from one guy in a room to 32 employees and more. I literally did all this early on, and my own company became so busy and got such great attention I never had to work on the SEO in my own business again. I hit the ground running. MY STORY I was literally ringing my hands wondering how to save my home and feed my children. We had lived in a big lavish home and literally were loosing everything. I had no money for food it was very hard.
10 I did all the things I m outlining here on my old PC in the corner of my living room, including having my logo designed at 99 Designs (seen here), and within 2 months was asked to join a group as a public speaker and share these ideas. My story did not end there, I have been traveling the world speaking, and doing this work for others while building my company. I love marketing, and studied all these concepts because I thought interesting tracking the changes in marketing with the onset of the internet was fascinating and fun. I started using these notions to promote my bands before I moved to work with other businesses. Marketing, Video & Music are my passion!
