2 OVERVIEW OF OPPORTUNITIES The content marketing industry is growing and evolving faster than ever, and it s vital that members and clients are kept up to date with the latest thinking and developments, as well as receiving the reward and recognition they deserve. So every year, the CMA organize a huge number of events, commission research projects and gain worldwide media coverage, all designed to educate, inform and celebrate with the single aim of showcasing the content marketing industry and giving more business to power to our members. These events and opportunities are listed below:
3 Who we are The Content Marketing Association (CMA) is a not for profit organization and industry body for the content marketing industry. The overarching aim of CMA is to promote the use of content as an effective marketing tool to client-side marketers and showcase the range of channels that can be used to engage customers, from digital - such as smart phone apps, tablet-enabled microsites, video and branded TV - to the more traditional customer magazines. CMA Members The CMA represents over 27 of the country s leading content marketing agencies that have an impressive track record of producing highly effective content across all channels for some of the world s biggest brands. 5 The Content Marketing industry The Facts! The content marketing industry is the second fastest growing media channel, now worth an estimated 4billion. Just to give you an overview of the rapidly growing industry you could be involved with, here are some topline stats: Industry overview 4 billion is now spent annually on owned media in the UK, equating to 21 per cent of brand comms budgets (4) 30% of total time spent reading magazines is devoted to reading content marketing titles (1) Worth 4 billion 25% YOY growth Digital marketing (3) Content marketing is the most buoyant channel for investment Over two-thirds (70%) of companies surveyed report increases for their content marketing budgets over the next 12 months, the highest for any digital channel or discipline Content marketing is the area companies are most likely to be increasing investment, with over two-thirds of client-side respondents (70%) and agencies (72%) indicating they (or their clients) will spend more on this. 9 The International Content Marketing Awards 2014: Wednesday 26 November, The Roundhouse 2015: Thursday 3 rd December, The Roundhouse The International Content Marketing Awards celebrate and reward the content that s combined innovation, creativity and effectiveness, going far beyond its client s expectations in achieving its objectives and providing fantastic ROI. The Awards not only give the industry an annual focal point for excellence, showcasing its finest work to drive future business for CMA members, but provide an opportunity for creative and management teams to gather, network and enjoy a great night out. The event provides the industry with a stunning showcase of talent, determination and expertise, and a source of inspiration and insight for brand marketers the world over. The Facts The 2014 Awards attracted over 450 entries, spanning 16 countries, with 81 individual agencies entering, which is 29% up year on year. This makes it one of the world s biggest awards for the content marketing industry. The awards evening itself sees over 450 agency staff and their clients come together and celebrate being part of such an exciting industry. The audience is truly international with agencies and clients from Australia, South Africa, USA, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Hungary, Belgium, Portugal, Holland and Norway. 81 agencies entered 25% international agencies 500 attendees
10 Categories The Awards now have 21 categories for content produced for every marketing channel print, online, mobile, video, social which really showcases the diversity of platforms across each award. We also have individual categories for editor, designer, photography and illustration, and of course the Grand Prix which is the ultimate award of the night, based upon effectiveness, brand synergy, creativity, strategic thinking and originality. To reflect the channel-neutral nature of this fast moving and rapidly growing sector, the majority of awards are judged on content alone, regardless of the platforms each entry is delivered on. This means that the awards truly reflect the multichannel nature of content marketing. However, regardless of the channel, the criteria for a winning entry still comes down to effectiveness, with each winner demonstrating that the content not only fulfills the client s brief, but also goes beyond expectation with clear and well-defined results Winners The winning agencies from across the globe were regarded as the pinnacle of content marketing in 2014 and recognized as industry leaders.
