Position Description Well Made Curator Title of Position Type of Appointment Salary Responsible to Well Made Curator Part-time, 20 hours per week, 6 Month contract, after which the role and position will be reviewed $55,000 pro rata plus 9.5% Superannuation Executive Director 1. 2. About Well Made The focus of the current Guildhouse website is on our members, the services we provide and our unique collaborative projects. Well Made is a dynamic marketing and potential sales platform will target the broader general public, governments and commercial audiences both nationally and internationally. Well Made is designed to promote creative professionals and their work, provide relevant and engaging content and be a major contact point for arts related activities. As a marketing platform for South Australian visual artists, craftspeople and designers, Well Made will also increase the capacity and effectiveness of the Guildhouse Referral Program, an existing yet under realised commissioning program that targets individual collectors, education institutions, curators, commissioning agencies, the building industry, the corporate gift market, and local and state governments. Well Made responds directly to findings from the National Craft Initiative s 2014 report, Mapping the Australian Craft Sector, that there is greater acknowledgement of craft as an important art form in Australia and the need to increase its visibility and the artists needs to access a wider market in a more sophisticated and commercial environment. It also responds to State Government s agenda for the arts sector by developing and increasing its contribution to the state s economy. With an enhanced capacity to manage the program and greater promotion through the Well Made platform, Guildhouse aims to increase sales for visual artists, craftspeople and designers as well as the commissioning and production of unique, handmade objects and services to a new online clientele. The site will be the place to go when seeking quality work and access to high calibre makers.

3. Broad summary of the position, and its responsibilities/duties. The Well Made Curator will be responsible for maintaining the curatorial brief for applicants to the site, creating ongoing content and securing the creative professionals that will be featured. The Well Made Curator will also manage applications, follow up with invited artists, research and develop written content for the site, work closely with the team to implement the marketing strategy. The Well Made Curator will work with the Guildhouse Executive Director to secure appropriate advertising clients. This position will connect with stakeholders, audiences and creative professionals along with sponsors and the Guildhouse Board. This position will suit a motivated and well-organised person with a keen interest in and excellent understanding of the visual art, craft and design sector in South Australia. 4. Reporting and Working Relationships The Well Made Curator and Content Creator reports to the Guildhouse Executive Director, works closely with Guildhouse Program Manager and liaises with the Guildhouse staff, Well Made applicants and Guildhouse Members. SELECTION CRITERIA 1. Skills Essential Demonstrated curatorial and editorial experience Demonstrated experience researching and developing high quality written content Demonstrated experience working with creative professionals Understanding of the South Australian visual arts, craft and design sectors Demonstrated marketing and promotion experience, (preferably in the visual arts) Experience using social media as a promotional tool Experience in developing relationships with advertisers and sponsors Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong proof reading skills and attention to detail Sound time management skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines Ability to work efficiently both independently and cooperatively as part of a small team Curatorial experience Desirable Ability to work on Apple computers 2. Knowledge Essential Excellent knowledge of contemporary South Australian visual arts, craft and design Sound understanding of website management systems Understanding a commitment to the principles and practices of Occupational Health and Safety and Equal Opportunity Desirable Understanding of sponsorship and philanthropy Sound knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Sound knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator Sound knowledge of marketing, communications and branding Experience using MailChimp, Campaign Monitor, Survey Monkey and Eventbrite 3. Performance Evaluation The Executive Director and a Guildhouse Board Member conduct performance reviews after three months. Non-achievement of the position s responsibilities and duties or failure to meet Key Performance Indicators will result in a review of the position. At the conclusion of this six month contract Guildhouse will be assessing the skill sets required for the ongoing management of the Well Made and Referral Service platform and if this role is to continue.
