Specifically, we: Help Australian companies to grow their business in international markets, including through administration of the Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) scheme and the TradeStart program. Provide coordinated government assistance to attract and facilitate productive foreign direct investment (FDI) into Australia. Promote the Australian education sector in international markets and assist Australian education providers with market information. Provide advice to the Australian Government on its trade, tourism and investment policy agenda. Develop policy, manage programs and provide research to strengthen Australia's tourism industry and to grow Australia's tourism market share. Deliver Australian consular, passport and other government services in designated overseas locations. Manage the Building Brand Australia program to enhance awareness of contemporary Australian skills and capability and enrich Australia's global reputation. 2 Title: Investment Analyst Position Number: 1503 Division, Unit, Location: International Operations, Established Markets, San Francisco Level: AOPL3 Please note that this position will be filled under local employment conditions. Term: Ongoing Role: This position is a part of a team of investment managers involved in attracting productive Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to Australia. The role involves: proactive identification of companies with the potential to invest in Australia in priority industries, undertaking corporate analysis to understand their decision making processes and growth strategies, tracking trends in key subsectors to support the business case for investment, preparing detailed presentations and materials for individual companies which present a compelling value proposition for investment, and working with colleagues in North America across management teams to support with investment enquiries, promotional campaigns and company targeting The position requires a highly motivated team member fluent in written and spoken English. The role demands experience in corporate analysis, preferably in an international environment, preparation of presentations and understanding of sophisticated research methodologies. The successful applicant will also have good marketing and networking skills as well as a proactive style of communication. Duties: Proactively identify, analyse and track potential corporate investors in priority industries across North America. This will involve preparation of target lists of potential investors, analysis of their decision making processes and expansion drivers and development of tailored value propositions for individual companies Prepare presentations on topics including the benefits of investing in Australia Capture market insights into trends in particular industry subsectors and report on these back to Australia Develop and maintain extensive business and industry networks in the USA and in Australia. This could include other Australian government agencies and State government offices, as well as key local government officials and allies such as industry associations, regional development groups and professional service providers which will help deliver on the outcomes required of the role Actively apply Austrade business practices and maintain accuracy of information in all Austrade Business Systems to deliver accurate and timely reporting and effective relationship management Contribute to knowledge creation within Austrade, by adopting information practices, sharing knowledge and information and by embracing best practice and development opportunities Work collaboratively within the Austrade network to contribute to service delivery and achieve desired outcomes, while upholding the APS Values and Code of Conduct and work health & safety principles Page 2 of 5

3 Selection Criteria Assessment The selection criteria highlight the essential components (skills, experience and qualities) that are required to perform in the role effectively. You will be asked to respond to specific assessment questions through the online application form. Your answers will be used to assist the Selection Panel in assessing your application. Your answers will form part of the overall assessment and are essential for you to demonstrate how your skills and experience support you as a suitable candidate for the role. Applicants who do not answer the on line application questions as requested are unlikely to be considered for a position with Austrade. Selection Criteria: 1. Demonstrated track record of research and corporate analysis preferably in an international business environment and knowledge of the latest research and analysis tools available. 2. Excellent written communication and presentation skills, including the ability to capture and present information tailored to the needs of different audiences, such as senior company representatives and Australian Government policy managers. 3. Proven ability to identify and utilise a business and industry network to help achieve results, preferably in an international context. 4. Understanding of the benefits of FDI and the capacity to understand and promote Australia s competitive advantage, government policy and business support programs. 5. Good marketing skills including ability to prepare marketing materials manage website content and organise events. 6. Experience in working successfully within a team environment with people from different cultural backgrounds located in a decentralised network across different time zones and ability to proactively engage with other team members in the USA and Australia. 7. Highly developed time management skills and proven experience of working independently and using initiative to prioritise work and deliver on expected outcomes within tight timeframes. 4 Ongoing employment Ongoing employment with Austrade will be offered for this position. General Information Salary This position is at Austrade Overseas Performance Level (AOPL) 3. AOPL3 Commencement salary is $65,389 USD per annum (gross). Salary advancement to Standard Salary level ($68,831 gross per annum) can be approved after six months of service, subject to a positive performance appraisal. Please note that this position will be filled locally, under local employment conditions. Mandatory Requirements: Education: - Minimum Bachelor level relevant tertiary qualification, (for example but not limited to International Business/Economics/Marketing or industry-related disciplines). Language Proficiency: - Applicants must be fluent in written and spoken English. Shortlisted applicants may be first tested by telephone prior to Austrade committing to interview. Desirable: - Industry knowledge in one or more of Austrade s priority sectors. Residency and Work Permit: - Applicants must have work authorisation in the US.
