Jumble for Microsoft Outlook Jumble is a zero knowledge, end- to- end email encryption solution that integrates with existing email platforms. Jumble integrates at the email client level and removes the need for significant capital outlay for the deployment and management of enterprise and/or gateway- based email encryption products. Jumble performs encryption and decryption at the email client level and therefore provides full end- to- end encryption of email data. Jumble secures both email data and file attachments. Jumble users do not need to manage cryptographic keys, nor do they need to be registered to receive a Jumble encrypted email. System Requirements Jumble recommends using Microsoft Windows 7 or later. Jumble supports the following versions of Microsoft Outlook: Microsoft Outlook 2010 Microsoft Outlook 2013 Microsoft Outlook 2016
Installation Instructions If you previously installed version 1.0 of Jumble for Outlook you will need to uninstall the old version before continuing. Check if you have an old version of Jumble installed Follow these steps to check which version of Jumble is installed: 1. Open Outlook if not already open. 2. Click the Add- ins menu item along the top. 3. Click the Jumble icon at the top- left. 4. Depending on whether you re logged- in to Jumble, you ll see either the Jumble Login screen or the Jumble Account screen. 5. If the version number displayed on either of these screens shows 1.0, then you need to uninstall the old version before continuing. Open the WIndows Control Panel, select Programs and Features and then select Uninstall or change a program 2. Select Jumble and click Uninstall simply accept any prompts and Jumble will be removed 2 P age
To install Jumble follow these steps: 1. Download the installation file from the Jumble website: https://www.jumble.io/outlook 2. Ensure Outlook is not running, close it if it s open. 3. Once the setup.exe file has downloaded, double click it to start the installation and follow the on- screen instructions the installer may prompt you to accept the terms and conditions (also available here: https://www.jumble.io/terms- of- service) and install additional required libraries from Microsoft, accept the prompts and the installation will complete. Login to Jumble To send secure emails in Outlook you need to login to Jumble, follows these steps to login: 1. Along the top menu bar you will notice an item labeled ADD- INS, select the add- ins menu to access the Jumble menu. Figure 5 - Outlook Menu with Add- Ins 2. Then click the Jumble icon. Figure 6 - Jumble Menu Item in Outlook 3. You ll be prompted to login to your Jumble account; if you don t already have an account you can register for free by clicking the Sign Up button. If your login was successful you ll see a dialog similar to the one below, showing your email address, account status and Jumble plan name. You can now close this dialog window. If you have not activated your Jumble account your account status will show as INACTIVE to activate your Jumble account, simply click the link in the activation email you receive during the registration process; once completed, logout of Jumble (within the Outlook dialog) and log- in and now your status will show as ACTIVE. Sending a secure email Sending a secure email is as easy as sending a regular email, you simple need to choose to send securely. 1. Click New Email as normal Figure 9 - Outlook Menu 2. Compose your email; Jumble also supports secure attachments, add attachments using the Attach File menu item if required 3. Reading a secure email When logged- in to Jumble all encrypted emails you receive will automatically decrypt as you open them. You ll notice the message Message decrypted by Jumble added to the bottom of each decrypted email. Figure 11 - A Decrypted Email 7 P age
Opening secure attachments The email will have an extra tab along the top labelled Attachments if there are secure attachments included in the email. 1. To access the attachments, click the Attachments tab 2. Select each attachment from the drop- down menu and click Download and Decrypt Figure 12 - Secure Attachments 3. You will then be prompted to save the decrypted file once the file has been saved, you can open it as normal. 8 P age
What if you re not logged- in to Jumble (or if you re logged- in to the wrong Jumble account) If you are not logged- in to Jumble or you are logged- in but with an account that does not match your Outlook email address you will not be able to decrypt the email and the original, encrypted email will remain.
