1 Accessing Windows AnyConnect with Windows XP Procedure Version 1.4 Last Updated: 01/30/2012 Overview This document describes the steps to access Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client with Windows XP. Requirements Windows XP with Administrator access Uninstall any previous version of GSU s Cisco VPN client Your CampusID and CampusID password NOTE: If you have forgotten your CampusID password, visit Contents Uninstall any previous version of GSU s Cisco VPN client Install Cisco s AnyConnect VPN Client Manually Install Cisco s AnyConnect VPN Client Connecting and Disconnecting Uninstalling Steps to Uninstall a Previous Version of GSU s Cisco VPN Client 1. Click the Windows Start button. 2. Click Control Panel. 3. Click Uninstall a program in the Control Panel dialog box. NOTE: If you view your Control Panel by icons, click Programs and Features. 4. In the Uninstall or change a program dialog box: A. Select Cisco Systems VPN Client NOTE: The version number at the end of the name will vary. Page 1 of 8

Figure 2: Click Yes in the Programs and Features dialog box Steps to Install Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client with Windows XP 1. Open Internet Explorer and go to 2. On the SSL VPN Service page: A. Enter your CampusID and CampusID password in the Login box. B. Select either On Campus, Off Campus, or Wireless for Group. Select Wireless if you are on campus and are connected to Georgia State University s wireless network. Select On Campus if you are on campus and are connected to GSU s local area network using wired access. Select Off- Campus if you are not on the GSU campus network. Page 2 of 8

3 C. Click Login to continue. Figure 3: Enter your CampusID and password in the "Login" box 3. Click the Close button on the Information Bar dialog box if prompted. Figure 4: Click the "Close" button 4. Click on the ActiveX warning ribbon, then select Install ActiveX Control Figure 5: Click on the ActiveX warning ribbon, then select "Install ActiveX Control.." 4 5. Click the Install button on the Internet Explorer - Security Warning dialog box. 5 Steps to Manually Install the VPN Client 1. Click on the link labeled Windows 7/Vista/64/XP. Figure 2: Click on the link "Windows 7/Vista/64/XP" 2. Click Run in the File Download- Security Warning dialog box. Figure 3: Click "Run" in the File Download- Security Warning dialog box 3. 6 4. Click Next in the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client Setup dialog box. Figure 5: Click "Next" 5. Select I accept the terms in the License Agreement, and click Next. Figure 6: Select "I accept the terms in the License Agreement", and click "Next 6. Click Install. Figure 7: Click "Install" Page 6 of 8

7 7. Click Finish when installation is complete. Figure 8: Click "Finish" 8. Click on Windows Start button, and then click All Programs 9. In the list of programs: A. Click on Cisco folder B. Select Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client folder C. Select Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client Figure 9: Click on "Cisco" folder Page 7 of 8

8 Connecting and Disconnecting AnyConnect Client will also load in your Task Bar and can be accessed from there to either disconnect or connect. Additionally, the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client can be found in the Start menu, under All Programs. Uninstalling If you should need to uninstall the program, go to Control Panel.
