TRANSLATION MEMORY & GLOSSARY ADMINISTRATION As part of the workflow processes established by Foreign Translations, glossary and translation memory databases are created and customized for each client to ensure consistency throughout each translation project. This database of frequently used terminology, whether provided by you, or created by us, results in accurate, uniform translations and ultimately offers you cost reductions on repeated text. A translation memory database is developed through the use of computer assisted translation software, such as market-leading SDL Trados, allowing our translators to produce consistent, accurate translations. Upon request, a glossary is generated so that a client s in-house staff, familiar with the target language, can approve or change the suggested translations offered by our translation team. Project Considerations How is Pricing Determined? Cost for translation projects is driven by the number of words and the language set. Depending on the project and language, either source or target words (see below) may be used for pricing purposes. Source refers to the original document (language and word count); target refers to the final deliverable (language and word count). Pricing is not generally based upon the number of pages. Some pages may have 50 words; others may have 500 or more. Layout in a desktop publishing format (such as Adobe InDesign), complex layout in MS Office formats, graphics recreation, rush delivery and other such work or requirements will incur additional charges. Certification statements, expedited mail delivery and document notarization incur additional charges Pricing for interpreting is based upon an hourly or daily rate. On-site interpreting requires travel and expenses and remote (teleconference) interpreting does not. Foreign Translation s minimum charge is $100. Is Foreign Translations Qualified to Translate Technical, Medical and Legal Documents? Foreign Translations deep pool of qualified translators ensures that your document will be translated by a professional translator specializing in your required field of expertise. We are capable of translating into and out of any written language. Pricing for translation depends on the language combination. Costs for translation into English are usually slightly higher than for translating out of English. How Long Does Translation Take? Typical timeframes for translation are based on 1,500-2,000 words per day, with additional time needed for: Non-Americas languages (anything other than Latin American, Caribbean, and North American languages, due the time differences with our translators PDF/Image to MS Word conversion Desktop Publishing (DTP) or coding Other non-standard project preparation and project review tasks Rush projects (project completed sooner than the general guidelines above, including 24 hour turnaround and turnaround requiring weekend work, can sometimes be accommodated for an additional fee please ask for more details.
