Spamguard SPAM Filter The ECU Spam Firewall (spamguard) is designed t blck r quarantine e-mail messages that are r lk like spam befre it reaches ur email servers. The spam firewall will NOT catch all f the unwanted/unslicited e-mails yur ECU e-mail accunt will receive, but it will significantly reduce the amunt f spam in yur inbx. If an e-mail message sent t yu is quarantined by the Spam Firewall (spamguard), yu will receive an e-mail ntice frm "spamguard@eck.edu" with the subject "Quarantine Summary" t let yu knw there are messages sitting n the spam firewall fr yur email accunt, and that yu shuld view thse messages and determine whether they are valid messages r spam. The Quarantine Summary e-mail messages will be sent ut n a regular basis. If yu believe Spamguard has caught emails that yu shuld be receiving, yu can release r delete quarantined messages frm the quarantine e-mail itself, r frm the Spamguard web page at https://spamguard.eck.edu. When prmpted, lgin with yur ECU user name and passwrd. When using the Spamguard web page, yu will als be able t whitelist r blacklist email accunts cming t yur email address. If yu d nt check the mail that has been quarantined by the Spamguard system, any messages that have nt been released, whitelisted, blacklisted r deleted in 14 days (tw weeks) will be deleted autmatically by the Spam Firewall. Deleted messages cannt be recvered.
Viewing yur quarantined messages via the Quarantine Summary e-mail: Quarantine Summary e-mail messages will be sent ut n a regular basis. Yu will nly receive an e-mail if yu have messages quarantined by Spamguard. Use Web Actins Email Actins will nt wrk Actins The tw left-mst clumns in yur Spam Reprt e-mail are "Web Actins" and "Email Actins." The nly way t manage yur quarantined messages is t use the ptins in the "Web Actins" clumn. Web Actins: Click n the Release link t have the message sent t yur inbx. Click n the Delete link t delete the message frm yur quarantine. Other ptins: At the bttm f the Spam Reprt will be links fr additinal actins: Other: T view yur entire quarantine inbx r manage yur preferences, click n the apprpriate "Click Here" link.
When yu receive a released message, it appears in yur inbx by the date it was riginally sent, rather than the date yu released it frm the Spam Firewall. Yu may need t scrll up r dwn yur inbx windw until yu see the message that was recently released r whitelisted. If the address and the subject line f a message is nt enugh infrmatin fr yu t determine whether t keep r delete a quarantined messages, yu can view yur quarantined messages by visiting https://spamguard.eck.edu and lgging in with yur ECU e-mail username and passwrd. Viewing yur quarantined messages via the web: Yu can view yur quarantined messages by visiting https://spamguard.eck.edu and lgging in with yur ECU e-mail address and passwrd. T delete a single message, right-click n the message and select Delete. (Mac users that d nt have a tw-buttn muse can press the Cntrl key and click n a message and select Delete.) T delete multiple messages, right-click n any message and select Select All. (Mac users that d nt have a tw-buttn muse can press the Cntrl key and click n any message and select Select All.) All f the messages n the page will be selected. Click n the Delete buttn that is abve the list f messages. Please nte: By default, nly 25 messages will appear at a time. Yu may increase the number f messages displayed at ne time by ging t the Recrds per page: field and selecting ne f the ptins frm the pp-up menu. 500 messages per page is the maximum number that can be displayed at ne time (and deleted at ne time via the web interface). Click Save View t save yur preference fr the next time yu lg int Spamguard. T select all f the messages, click n the checkbx at the very tp f the checkbx clumn, just under the Delete buttn.

Deleted messages cannt be recvered. Release - Releases the message s it can arrive in yur inbx. Releasing a message des nt whitelist the sender. Blacklist - If a message is blacklisted, yu will nt receive any further e-mail messages sent t yu frm that address. Whitelist - If a message is whitelisted, yu will receive any messages sent t yu frm that address withut future messages being examined fr spam. After yu have finished reviewing yur quarantined messages and taken any necessary actins, click "Lg Out" in the upper right crner f the windw. Manually adding addresses t yur whitelist "Whitelisting" addresses in yur Spam Firewall preferences will allw messages frm particular senders t g thrugh the Spam Firewall withut being quarantined r examined fr spam. Click n the Preferences link near the tp left crner f the page. 3. Under Antispam Management, find Black/White Lists: and click n the White link. 4. In the field available, type in the e-mail address yu wish t whitelist and click the Add buttn. 5. Yu may als type in dmains that yu wish t whitelist. Fr example, if yu wuld like any messages cming frm a saintmarys.edu e-mail address t be authrized withut being quarantined, type in the dmain eck.edu. 6. When yu are finished adding e-mail addresses t yur whitelist, click n the X in the upper right crner f the windw t clse it. 7. Click Apply. 8. Yu can click the Bulk link in the upper left crner t view yur quarantined messages, r Lg Out if yu are finished with the Spam Firewall.

Blacklisting a sender means that all messages frm the sender will be deleted and cannt be recvered.
