We look forward to seeing you soon. 1

Important things to know Fobs- Fobs are the keys that you will receive, these will allow you to get in and out of the main clubhouse. To use the fobs just place the metal side into the circular key hole next to the door at the main entrance. These fobs are also used with the squash light machine. Reserving Squash Courts- To ensure that a squash court is free for the time you wish to play you must look at the booking calendar, this is located next to the ticket machine next to squash court number two. If you want to reserve a set time then you must buy a ticket from the machine and place it on the free time slot (40 minutes long). A ticket costs 1. Squash Lights- When arriving for your game you will need to pay for the court lights. The machine is located next to the ticket machine, (next to court two).each player should insert their fobs and wait for the LF (light fee) or JF (junior fee) indicator to come on, insert 1.50 at which point the lights will come on. If you have a guest insert one fob and the GF (guest fee) indicator will light up requesting 2:50. This will be in addition to the 1.50. Tennis Lights- Tennis can be played under floodlights. See above. The lights will indicate time and costs. Playing Tennis- There is no booking system for tennis. Turn up and play if a court is free. Changing Rooms- Male and female changing rooms are located opposite the squash courts and have shower facilities. 2

History Based in the middle of Greenfield, Tame Valley Tennis & Squash Club is a local amateur sports club with a long history. Originally founded in 1923, as a tennis club, Tame Valley expanded to provide squash courts in the 1970 s. It now provides year round sports facilities and boasts four all-weather tennis courts (three floodlit) and three squash courts for its members. In recent years the club, which is owned and run by its members, has bucked the trend, by adding a third (glass backed) squash court, at a time when commercially run squash clubs have been contracting, or closing. Indeed, Tame Valley is now the only competitive squash club in Oldham. The club provides opportunities for both beginners and experienced players. Professional coaching, both for groups and individuals, is available for both tennis and squash throughout the year. Even during the winter months, the tennis courts on Saturdays are busy, with hardy youngsters of all ages learning the game. At a more competitive level, the club fields two mixed teams in the Oldham Tennis League (2009 Division 1 champions) and four men s and ladies teams in the Manchester League. Two junior teams play in the Manchester League. During the winter the club fields four squash teams on Thursday evenings in the North West Counties League. The largest squash league in the world! Away from the courts, the club has recently refurbished its changing facilities, and members can relax in the licensed bar lounge. 12
