Barrowby FC is an FA Charter Standard accredited club that has been in existence for a number of years. The club has held the FA Charter Standard accreditation for the last 5 years and will continue to do so. All our Managers and Coaches have undertaken the required FA training and everyone is CRB/DBS/CRC checked. The club actively supports the FA Respect campaign and the implementation of the recommendations from the FA Youth Review. We welcome everyone to Barrowby FC and we will endeavour to get everyone playing football. The aim of the club is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment to play and watch football regardless of age, gender or ability. For every player a key objective is to create an atmosphere in which all children can learn footballing skills and enjoy themselves in a fun/learning and safe environment. As a club we are mindful of the number of players we can safely accommodate in each team squad and this may limit the availability of spaces to train and play for Barrowby FC teams. The club aims to ensure that all players in teams where match results are not published (U7, U8, U9 and U10 from 2014) each receive an equal amount of playing time throughout the season as far as is possible. For older teams who play in leagues where results are published, by necessity, a more competitive approach is taken. The number of players signed to each team and therefore eligible to play will take into account a mixture of ability, fitness, availability and conduct. The ethos of the club is to compete in all matches; however we will not play to win at all costs. We provide training to develop player s abilities and as a result our teams are quite successful in the competitions in which they compete. Whilst success is welcomed, we believe that it is important that children enjoy their football regardless of results and would encourage everyone to accept and support this approach. The club is well known and is respected in all the leagues in which it plays. We have teams in the following age group/categories U7, U8, U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, Veteran Men, a Senior Mens team and Senior Mens Reserve team. We have over 150 junior players and 80 adult players as members of the club. The players come from not only village of Barrowby but also from Grantham and as far away as Bourne, Colsterworth and Bottesford. Our teams play in five East Midland s leagues and play against teams from a wide range of Midlands s towns and villages. The club is very proud to have the use of probably the best changing room facilities in the local area and the majority of clubs who visit us are impressed by the facilities in the Barrowby Sports Pavilion. The club is grateful for the support we receive from Barrowby Parish Council and the Football Association. We look forward to welcoming you to Barrowby FC.

Respect The FA Respect campaign aims to reach players, parents, spectators, at grass roots football to ensure that they set positive examples to improve conduct on the sidelines towards other spectators, players and match officials. Barrowby FC wholeheartedly supports these aims and expects all its members to do the same. Here is a reminder of what the club expects of everyone involved in Barrowby FC: Remember children play for fun. Applaud effort and good play as well as success. Avoid criticising any player for making a mistake - everyone makes mistakes and mistakes are part of learning. Always respect the match officials and their decisions and encourage you children to do the same. Let the Team Managers & Coaches do their job. Parents and Spectators should encourage players but do not issue instructions. Never engage in or tolerate offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour. If you are subject to this type of behaviour do not get involved. Inform your team manager and the club will inform the league and FA of the incident. Do not post derogatory, inflammatory or improper remarks on social networking sites nor send or resend texts or tweets of a similar nature For matches there will be designated spectator & Team Official areas. All parents and spectators must stand behind the Respect barrier and they must be no one stood behind the goals. The Respect barrier will be positioned 2-3 metres from the sideline. Team Managers and Coaches will stand on the opposite side of the pitch to the spectators and parents. If everyone adheres to these requirements it will help ensure everyone enjoys their football. Persons who do not comply with these requirements will be dealt with by the club/league/fa in accordance with relevant policies. Don t forget roll call at training every Saturday at 9.20am Barrowby FC Bonus Ball Have you tried your luck with the Bonus Ball yet just 1 a go. 3 Communication to/from the Club and Team Managers to Parents/Guardians The club and team managers use , texts or other ways to communicate with parents. If you change your address or mobile phone number please make sure you let the Club Secretary and relevant Team Manager know. This way we can make sure you are kept up to date with information and announcements. Bullying We are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all of our members so they can participate in football in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable at our club. If bullying does occur, all club members or parents should be able to tell and know that incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively. We are a TELLING club. This means that anyone who knows that bullying is happening is expected to tell the Club Welfare Officer or any committee member. This club is committed to playing its part to teach players to treat each other with respect. We follow the FA Anti Bullying Policy. Here is a link to the policy The club has three Child Welfare Officers - John Young Club Chairman, Vicky Wood Asst Secretary and Mark Jessop Fixtures Secretary. Please contact John, Vicky or Mark if you have concerns about bullying. Their contact numbers are John Vicky Mark Training Training for the 2012/13 season will finish on Sat 24 May (which will be followed by an end of season BBQ at the Pavilion everyone welcome!) The Pavilion Committee is funding the major part of treatment works on our pitches with a significant contribution from the football club over the summer break so it is crucial to ensure that the pitches are left to be treated to ensure they are in the best possible condition for when we start again. Training will restart mid-august dependent upon the pitch works. We will keep you informed

Barrowby Sports Pavilion Usage/Hire We often receive enquiries about using the Pavilion for football related events or children s parties on a weekend. This note is to provide you with information about the ownership of the Pavilion and its uses. Barrowby Sports Pavilion is owned by Barrowby Parish Council (not the football or cricket clubs). It is managed and operated by the Barrowby Parish Council Pavilion Committee which has representatives from the football and cricket clubs as well as Parish Councilors and villagers. The Football and Cricket Clubs pay a rent for using the Pavilion and are very grateful for the support given by Barrowby Parish Council which facilitates the provision of football and cricket for so many people. In addition to the Football and Cricket club who use the Pavilion and Low Field each weekend and some summer evenings, the Pavilion is used by nursery schools, pre/after school clubs and other groups during the week so there is little time when the Pavilion is not in use. The football club uses the Pavilion from 9.00 to each Saturday. The morning is dedicated to children s soccer and in the afternoons, the pavilion is used by the Senior teams. On Sundays, the football club uses the Pavilion from to for football matches for all age groups including our Veteran men s team. The Cricket Club uses it during their season from until and the facilities are shared when Barrowby football and cricket teams are at home as far as possible. The function room is used throughout these periods by the various football and cricket teams. Because of the intensive use each weekend there is very little time for any other users to hire the Pavilion. If you do wish to find out about hiring the function room please contact Margaret Bradshaw, Pavilion Booking Clerk on or littlemaggie@aol.com. Your Club needs you! We are in need of volunteers for any of the following: Helping out in the kitchen on a Saturday morning during training doesn t have to be every Saturday but if we have a few helpers then we could sort a rota (after all we all need a cuppa & bacon cob on a cold morning!) contact Hazel, Sarah or Suzy We have also started opening on Sunday mornings when we have lots of games going on again any helpers would be much appreciated contact Hazel, Sarah or Suzy End of Season BBQ 24 May helpers needed please speak to Hazel or Suzy We will be running the club tournament again during August bank holiday weekend. We will need volunteers to help with all aspects, from the kitchen to car parking, to the sweet stall etc. Doesn t have to be all weekend a morning or an afternoon would really help. Let us know if you can help the funds raised go towards crucial pitch improvements.

Player subscriptions - where the money goes. We often receive queries asking how the club uses the money raised from player subscriptions. The running costs of the club are detailed below - all paid for by player subscriptions. Football Association affiliation - in order to enter teams into any of the leagues we play in we have to be affiliated to the FA. Public Liability Insurance the FA requires every club to have this insurance. League and cup competition entry fees - these vary from 60 per team to 150 per team depending on the age of the players and the league entered. Player signing on fees - to be registered to play for a team every player must be registered with the relevant league. It costs 5 per player. Equipment - we purchase footballs, goals, training equipment (cones, mannequins, fitness aids etc), corner flags - in fact everything needed to play football. For example size 4 footballs cost between 55 and 75. We have 10 teams and each uses at least 15 balls per season. Match balls cost 15 each. First aid kits - every team must have an FA approved First Aid kit costing approx 30 and which requires regular replenishment. Clothing/strips - we budget to purchase such items however the kit for one team can cost over 650 so we need the help of sponsors Pavilion & pitch hire - we pay the Parish Council each year to use the pavilion. Pitch marking - this is essential and we have our own electric marking machine and use 4 litres of pitch marking fluid each month (approx 500 per annum) Criminal Records Bureau checks - every person who is involved with the club and interfaces with the players must hold a current and accepted CRB check. Each check costs Manager/Coach training - every Manager must be trained and assessed in order to be a team manager. The costs to do this per person is in excess of 130. Recertification is required for each qualification held which the club funds. Coaches also are mandated to obtain qualifications which must be retained. End of season event and trophies - each year we have an end of season event to acknowledge the achievement of players and managers. Each player receives a trophy and other awards are made for a variety of achievements. Each trophy costs 5 and we have over 150 players. Other trophy costs are higher and we hire the Grantham College Refectory which we pay for. Referee costs - some teams have to have qualified Referees appointed to their home games. Referee charges are between 10 and 20 per game depending on age group and league. The remainder of subscriptions are due in by 1 st February 2014 please We are again operating our no pay no play policy. If anyone has any queries please speak to John, Suzy, Hazel or Vicky

Playing time We often receive queries regarding playing time and how it affects children. Our club policy is that where matches are in leagues where results are not published then player selection will be based on giving each player equal playing time as far as possible over the season for all squad members. At these age groups it is more about learning, developing and having fun as opposed to the result being important. When playing in a league where match results and/or league tables are regularly published, selection for the match squad will primarily be based on a mixture of player ability, personal fitness, availability to play matches, player development needs (and their aptitude to develop), the player s attitude and their conduct at training. Player selection for matches is, in this respect, at the discretion of the Team Manager whose decision is final. In making team selection it is important for the Team Manager to be as fair and objective as possible and to endeavour to include all squad players at some point during the season and not to exclude any player on a regular basis. Please ensure that with the colder weather on its way that players are dressed appropriately, especially our younger/new players who aren t aware how cold it can get up at Lowfields Thank you to all our sponsors, your support is crucial to us and very much appreciated. Thank you also to all our managers, coaches and helpers without whom we would not be able to train and play matches every week. All the managers, coaches and committee at Barrowby FC wish players, parents & supporters a very Happy Christmas and best wishes for 2014
