3 INTERNAL COMPETITIONS OPEN INTERMEDIATE DOUBLES Thursday: 6-8pm and 8-10pm For those who can sustain rallies but are relatively new to competition. A fun competition and a great way to meet new people. You can start here and always look to move to the advanced doubles competition OPEN ADVANCED DOUBLES Tuesday: 6-8pm and 8-10pm This is for the advanced tennis players with competitive experience. The competition provide a relaxing atmosphere so it s a great opportunity to meet new people as well as play some high quality tennis. After attending a grading session please enter all internal competitions online at edu.au/ and click the link to the Tennis Club on the left to sign up. OPEN INTERMEDIATE SINGLES Friday 6-8pm This is for intermediate/competitive tennis players. The competition is limited to 12 places and priority will be given to those who enter and pay first. OPEN ADVANCED SINGLES Friday 8-10pm This is for advanced tennis players with competitive experience only. The competition is limited to 12 places and priority will be given to those who enter and pay first. MU OPEN SINGLES Date: Over 2 weekends (6th,7th,12th,13th April) The annual MUTC tournament is open to both Intermediate and Advanced players. Anyone can enter for the title of singles champion in Semester 1 and the Doubles in Semester 2. EXTERNAL COMPETITIONS BLACKBURN & DISTRICT NIGHT TENNIS ASSOCIATION (BDNTA) When: Monday Nights Provides competition at night for players located in Melbourne s eastern suburbs, mainly around Blackburn. Suitable for intermediateadvanced players. PENNANT When: Womens - Saturday Morning or Sunday Morning, Mens - Saturday Afternoon (these times are dependant on grade) Open to intermediate-advanced players. You will compete home and away against other clubs from around Melbourne. ** ALL NEW PLAYERS INTERESTED IN PLAYING PENNANT MUST ATTEND A GRADING SESSION EITHER ON THE 27TH MARCH 11-6PM OR SUNDAY 2ND MARCH 10AM-12PM OR 4-6PM BAYSIDE REGIONAL TENNIS ASSOCIATION (BRTA) When: Saturday For suburban members who live on the south and east side of Port Phillip Bay so you will not have to worry about travelling to and from university all the time. 4 2014 SHEPPARTON EASTER TOURNAMENT The Annual 2014 Shepparton Easter Lawn Tournament will take place from the 18th to 21st April (Easter Long Weekend). Events include Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles and from grades Open, Plate, A, B, C and D. MUTC will organised accommodation and car-pooling to Victoria Lake Holiday Park for the weekend. Unpowered camp sites for $60 per person (BYO everything) or a cabin with en suite for $137 per person (although beds are limited). To express your interest or for more information please the club at melbunitennis@gmail.com SOCIAL EVENTS OPEN DAY & WELCOME TO THE CLUB NIGHT THURSDAY 6TH MARCH 4-6PM (TENNIS COURTS) & 7PM CORKMAN PUB Show off your skills on the court with our speed radar and ball machine. There will be a free BBQ and drink vouchers to be won for the Corkman. Join us after at the Corkman Irish Pub for some clever conversation and (de-)hydrating refreshments. HAND-EYE COORDINATION TRAINING FRIDAY 4TH APRIL 7PM - CORKMAN PUB Using the traditional table tennis training methods, a small, round object will be thrown into a cylindrical vessel containing liquids. As this is quite physically exerting every time the object lands in the vessel the competitor is suggested to drink the containing liquids to stave off fatigue ANNUAL COCKTAIL NIGHT FRIDAY 9TH MAY Ladies and Gentlemen it s time to suit up!
