Venue Hire Information About CERES Situated close to Melbourne s inner city, CERES - Centre for Education and Research in Environmental Strategies is an award winning, not-for-profit, environment and education centre and urban farm. Built on a.5 hectare decommissioned municipal tip that was once a landfill and wasteland, today CERES is a thriving, vibrant community. Over 300,000 people visit CERES each year and many more connect with us through our innovative program taking sustainable education directly to schools across the State. Why choose CERES for your meeting or event? CERES offers so much more than just a series of rooms. On site features include natural light from passive solar design, landscape design, and various strategies to limit waste and use of water, energy and lighting, making this the most sustainable place for your staff planning meeting, small conference, workshop or private function. The Van Raay meeting rooms provide a combination of environmentally conscious design by renowned architect Gregory Burgess with cutting-edge sustainable building techniques, while CERES itself operates an organic farm, grocery, permaculture and bushfoods nursery on site providing plenty of opportunities for attendees to break out and explore. Van Raay Centre One large venue, two medium rooms or three individual spaces the Van Raay Centre meeting rooms are ideal for workshops, meetings, training sessions and conferences. With access to free wifi, a communal kitchenette and a beautiful sustainable design the best work happens here. An additional space in the Van Raay Centre the is located below the Merri Table and can be booked as a break out space for larger conferences, or is an ideal space for evening presentations, creative classes, and for workshops using the Community Kitchen to accommodate more participants. Ideally suited to art and music based workshops the is available in the evening, weekends and during school holidays. Accommodating up to 20 people, this large open space is located in the centre of the CERES site, and is the ideal location for noise based activities. The spiritual education centre of CERES the is host to meditation workshops, yoga classes and spiritual meetings. Available most Friday evenings, weekend afternoons and throughout school holidays the is a self enclosed facility with small kitchen and toilet facilities making it ideal for private functions and informal events. Each of the spaces at CERES provides a different way to engage with your work and all have excellent access to the range of outdoor areas at CERES available for use by hirers in conjunction with their venue.

Access to the kitchenette is included in the price of the room hire. Tea, herbal tea, plunger coffee, milk, soy milk and sugar can be provided for a low cost of $5 per head or you may supply your own beverages. The is equipped with its own small kitchen and the has basic tea and coffee making facilities on offer. Additional equipment for hire: Audio Visual equipment is available upon request: $90 per day for Data Projector hire $165 flat rate for PA hire We ask that you provide your own writing materials, including whiteboard markers. Heating And Cooling CERES is committed to being as close to carbon neutral as possible, and therefore our Van Raay meeting rooms are non-air-conditioned and utilise Hydronic Heating. The building has been designed with best practice eco principles and is mostly eco-cooled. Additional fans are available on days of extreme heat in order to provide extra comfort. Fans and heaters are also provided in other venues. Catering The Merri Table The food and drinks we serve in The Merri celebrate the best seasonal, low-mileage produce available in Victoria, and of course from our own organic farm and kitchen garden. Located just a few metres from the meeting rooms, and with all-day catering packages available, The Merri is a delicious and sustainable way to feed and energise your team throughout the day. For the, or for weekend and evening bookings you are welcome to self cater we just ask that all catering waste be removed from site, and that you consider sustainable and ethical options in your selection. The CERES Grocery is open seven days a week from 9am 5pm and can assist with a variety of delicious, healthy and organic products. Sustainable Transport Set in a unique and beautiful oasis just 6.6 kilometres from Melbourne s CBD, CERES is easy to reach by Tram 96, Northcote train station, Bus 503 or bicycle along the Merri Creek cycle path. We encourage the use of sustainable means of transport and CERES provides bicycle racks, transport maps & timetables. There is also parking available on site and close by.
