Resort information La Plagne, Peisey-Vallandry & Les Arcs; three large inter-connected resorts which together offer more than 425km of skiing, making the Paradiski one of the biggest skiing domains in the world. The variety of tracks means that there is something for every level of skier, from easy beginner slopes to miles of untouched backcountry and challenging black runs. Getting there Les Arcs is just 136km from Chambery airport which is an easy journey taking just 1 hour 50 minutes. There is a good service to Chambery in winter with www. snowjet.co.uk and www.flybe.com and others. Access from Geneva airport is easy too in 2 hours 40 minutes by car and of course there are plenty of cheap flights to Geneva. Les Arcs is made up of four separate resorts; 1600 was the first and is just a couple of km from 1800, the largest, overlooks the town of Bourg-St-Maurice and accesses 1600 via a furnicular. The highest is 2000 and both it and the pleasant, traditionally styled 1950 are on the other side of the mountain ridge. All the resorts are purpose built and traffic free, and primarily filled with apartment blocks. Les Arcs has some great slopes with long descents and enough terrain to entertain both intermediates and experts. Beginners can find plenty of ski schools and some easy learning slopes in each of the four main areas of Les Arcs.
Restaurant: Le Chalet d Arcelle A quaint piste-side restaurant close to Les Arcs 1600, le Chalet d Arcelle is cosy, with classic Alpine charm, excellent food and a large, sunny terrace where diners can enjoy some winter sun as they stop for lunch. The restaurant combines traditional Savoyarde specialties with fine dining, and offers a fantastic place to stop while exploring the Paradiski area. Activities: Snake Gliss You might be used to toboggans, but have you ever attempted to toboggan down the hill as a part of a long line of other people? If the answer to that is no, then Les Arcs is the ideal place to change that. The Snake Gliss is a fun and unique way to spend an afternoon when Ski School finishes.
Winter With 200km of its own slopes, Les Arcs has enough for intermediates and experts alike. If you are still looking for more, you can haead over to La Plagne, which will give you access to the resort s snow sure glacier skiing at 3250m. Les Arcs is good for beginners, great for intermediates and perfect for experts. Over 80% of the resorts slopes are either red or blue, catering for every type of intermediate from cautious to adventurous. There is plenty of long cruising terrain and woodland runs as well as steep, challenging reds. Après Ski The great thing about the four resorts of Les Arcs is that if you are looking for a good meal or a fun night out you have four towns to choose from. There are plenty of bars, and each resort has at least one decent place to eat. 1800 is without a doubt the place to be for an evening with live music and bars that stay open late, while 1950 is more casual and charming. There is no doubt Les Arcs is most suited for experts with 17% of its slopes being black runs, from tough mogul runs to steep shelves. The area also has great off piste potential, capable of keeping any expert interested. The adjoining Paradiski area more than doubles the amount of Pistes on offer, and provides a fantastic selection of slopes to choose from.
Summer Les Arcs has a huge number of activities for the summer months, from hiking, rock climbing, horse trekking and mountain biking to swimming pools and spa facilities. Les Arcs is ideal for mountain bikers with four resorts, mountain roads and hundreds of kilometres of trails to explore. There are a number of swimming pools available and facilities include tennis, bowling, a golf course and a cinema. More adventurous activities, like white water rafting, paragliding, glacier walking, kayaking and canyoning, are available for anyone who might want to try them out. There is also plenty of shopping in each of the Les Arcs towns, where you can find the latest clothes and accessories. For the ultimate experience, you can take a panoramic helicopter tour to see the forests and mountains of Les Arcs.
