The fllwing is a list f editable items: Curse Name: In mst cases, yu wuld update the name f the curse if the curse is als ging t eventually be custmized fr cntent. Fr example, if yu custmize the year-lng Earth Science e2020 base curse int 2 semester-lng curses, the new name f thse curses culd be: Earth Science Semester 1 and Earth Science Semester 2. Assessment Threshlds: Grade percentage necessary t pass lab assessments, quizzes, tests, and cumulative exams. Aut Grading Methd: Educatrs may chse hw actively invlved in the grading prcess they d like t be. Starting with the simplest (Cmpletin Grade) and mving tward the mst cmplex (Teacher Supprted), each time smething changes between ne grading ptin and the next, it will be nted in range text. Please nte that fr all activities that are NOT autmatically factred int the student s grade, if the teacher ges in and changes the grade assigned by e2020, the activity grade WILL nw factr int the student s grade. Cmpletin Grade Default Vcabulary and Lecture activities are nt cunted tward grade, thugh students will see a 100% in the Virtual Classrm upn cmpleting the activity. The Jurnal and Online Cntent activities are assigned an autmatic grade f 100% even if they d nt type anything int the respnse fields. Practice/Hmewrk is assigned a 100% even if the student answers all the questins incrrectly r desn t answer any f the questins at all. Essays are assigned an autmatic scre f 100%, regardless f the grade the IntelliMetric grading system assigned. Tpic Test/Cumulative Exam Reviews are graded the same as the Practice/Hmewrk activity. System-graded assessments: Lab Assessments, Quizzes, Tests, Cumulative Exams. If a student answers 8 questins crrectly ut f 10, they get an 80%. Aut with Grade Vcabulary and Lecture activities are nt cunted tward grade, thugh students will see a 100% in the Virtual Classrm upn cmpleting the activity. The Jurnal and Online Cntent activities are graded based n a keywrd check f respnses. If the keywrds are spelled incrrectly, they will nt be cunted and the student s grade will be lwer. If there are n questins assciated with the Online Cntent activity, the student s grade n the activity will nt be factred int their curse grade, thugh they will see a 100% in the Virtual Classrm upn activity cmpletin. If there are 3 OC questins (s each questin wuld be wrth 33%) and the student used key wrds in 2 ut f 3 f their answers, they d get a 66%. In the Jurnal, since there is nly ne questin fr them t answer, if they have n key wrds in their answer they d get a 0%. If they had ne key wrd in their answer they d get a 100%. Practice Hmewrk, Test Review and Cumulative Exam Review: All Multiple Chice (Objective questins) system graded. If they answered 7 ut f 10 crrectly they d get a 70%. All Shrt Answer (Subjective questins where students type an answer) answers are nt graded, students receive a cmpletin grade f 100%, but the grade is nt factred int their curse grade. Mixed Multiple Chice and Shrt Answer multiple chice is system graded, shrt answer questins are nt factred int the grade at all. If a student answered 3 ut f 5 bjective questins crrectly, they d get a 60%. Essays are assigned the grade IntelliMetric prvided. Teacher Supprted Vcabulary and Lecture activities are nt cunted tward grade, thugh students will see a 100% in the Virtual Classrm upn cmpleting the activity. Mixed Multiple Chice and Shrt Answer multiple chice is system graded, shrt answer questins are factred int the grade as thugh they were answered incrrectly, s the teacher must review the answers and assign a new grade. Fr example, if there were 5 multiple chice questins and 5 shrt answer questins, if the student answered 4 ut f 5 multiple chice answers crrectly they d nly get a 40% n the assignment Page 8 TOD_Overview_f_the_Edit_Optins_Page_fr_Individual_Student_Curses_040611
because the 5 shrt answer questins are factred int the grade as if they answered them incrrectly. Therefre, it s as if the student nly answered 4 ut f 10 crrectly. Essays are assigned a scre f 0% until the teacher reads and scres the essay. NOTE: As nted earlier, if either Aut with Grade r Teacher Supprted is chsen, Online Cntent activities that d nt have questins assciated with them will nt be cunted twards the student s grade (Math, Language Arts and sme Electives). While students will receive a 100% in the Virtual Classrm upn successfully cmpleting the activity, when yu lk in the Gradebk at their Online Cntent activity yu will nte that the grade is nt cunted twards the student s grade fr the curse. Any activities that are nt factred int the student s grade by default (lectures, vcabulary) will have this ntatin in red text abve the Graded Attempts sectin f the Gradebk, as seen belw. Starting Date: The date the student is t begin the curse. Target Date: The date that the student shuld finish the curse. T change the Starting Date r the Target Date click n the calendar icn next t the date yu wish t change, click the date itself, and then clse the calendar windw. The default is that the Starting Date and Target Date are the same date. It is very imprtant t change the dates t reflect when the student shuld begin and end the curse as there are several features that will nt ppulate crrectly withut a Target Date. Fr example, the Assignment Calendar, the Actual Grade, the Target Cmplete Percentage, etc The dates may be changed at any time and the student s Assignment Calendar and Prgress Reprt will autmatically update. Assessment Optins: Educatrs can select if they d like t enable any f the fllwing ptins: Enable Spiral Review: Pulls quiz questins frm the previus 2 lessns t make the quizzes cumulative. Lessn 1: 10 questins frm lessn 1 Lessn 2: 8 questins frm lessn 2, 2 questins frm lessn 1 Lessn 3: 7 questins frm lessn 3, 2 questins frm lessn 2, 1 questin frm lessn 1 Lessn 4: 7 questins frm lessn 4, 2 questins frm lessn 3, 1 questin frm lessn 2 Allw entes n Quizzes/Tests/Cumulative Exams: Allws students t use all the entes they ve taken fr a given lessn/tpic/unit while taking their quiz, test r cumulative exam. Allw Save and Exit n Tests and/r Cumulative Exams: Prvides students with a Save and Exit buttn while taking a Tpic Test and/r a Cumulative Exam. This allws students t begin an assessment, save it if they run ut f time during the class perid, and pick up where they left ff the next time they lg int that curse. If selected, yu will als have the ptin f hiding any questins that the student answered the befre clicking the Save and Exit buttn. This ensures that students cannt change any answers that they ve already entered when they return t finish the exam. Autmatic Prgressin: This feature allws students t mve thrugh their curse withut being autmatically stpped if they fail their assessments. Fr example, if yu had a 70% Passing Threshld and 2 Retakes set fr a student and they scred belw 70% n bth assessment attempts, withut the Autmatic Prgressin ptin selected the student wuld have t g t their teacher and have anther retake assigned. With Autmatic Prgressin, the student s highest assessment scre is the ne cunted tward their grade and they mve n t the next lessn, even thugh they have nt prven mastery f their current lessn. Page 10 TOD_Overview_f_the_Edit_Optins_Page_fr_Individual_Student_Curses_040611
Fail Attempts Allwed: By default, students are allwed 2 attempts t pass an assessment. If a particular student wuld be better served by raising r lwering that default setting, the teacher may g in and change the number f attempts t anything they feel is suitable. If a student s curse is set t Pre-Testing and the Fail Attempts Allwed is set t 2, then ne f thse attempts will be utilized when they take the pre-test at the start f the lessn, and the secnd attempt will be utilized when they take the end-f-lessn quiz (if they d NOT pass the pre-test they are quizzed again after finishing all f the lessn activities). If yu wuld like yur students t have 2 attempts at the end f a lessn in a curse set t Pre-Testing, change the Fail Attempts Allwed t 3 instead. Teacher Review: Cmpels the teacher t review the student s activities befre that student is allwed t take a quiz, test and/r cumulative exam. NOTE: In the Manage Students sectin f the Web Administratr there is a Reviews Required link. Click that link t see which students are awaiting review. Yu may als view thse students wh require a review by lking at the Dashbard. If yu select any f the Teacher Review Required ptins, yu may als select that yu must review a student s wrk befre each attempt at an assessment. This means that if yu review their wrk befre they attempt an assessment the first time, they fail the assessment and need t retake it, that yu wuld again have t review their wrk befre they can attempt the retake. By specifying a Default Review Timeut Length, it limits the amunt f time that can pass befre the student begins the assessment. If the student des nt begin the assessment within the designated time limit, the teacher must pen the assessment again. Page 11 TOD_Overview_f_the_Edit_Optins_Page_fr_Individual_Student_Curses_040611
Pretesting: Mves the end-f-lessn quiz t the beginning f the lessn, thus enabling students wh pass the pretest at a pre-determined passing threshld (default is 80%) t skip that lessn entirely. The student nly gets 1 attempt at the pretest. If the student fails the pretest, the prgram will frce the student back t participate in all activities fr that lessn. Once the student cmpletes the activities and passes the quiz (nw lcated at the end f the lessn), the student will cntinue t mve frward t the next lessn where they will then take anther pretest t determine if they can skip that lessn. By default, pretesting is set t ff. Pretesting can be turned n at any pint in a student s curse. Quiz Review: There are 3 different ways students can receive feedback when they submit a quiz: N Review: Student feedback includes the percentage grade and the number f questins they answered crrectly. This is the default setting. Questins and Student Answers: Student feedback includes the percentage grade, the number f questins they answered crrectly and pints ut exactly which questins the student answered incrrectly. Questins and Crrect Answers: Student feedback includes the percentage grade, the number f questins they answered crrectly and nt nly indicates which questins the student answered incrrectly, but prvides students with the crrect answers as well. NOTE: e2020 assessments are pulled dynamically frm a large bank f questins. Even if a student s Quiz Review is set t Questins and Crrect Answers, if the student fails the assessment the first time, reviews all the answers, including the crrect answers, when they g t take the assessment fr the secnd time that assessment will cntain new questins and any repeated questins will be in a different rder. Page 12 TOD_Overview_f_the_Edit_Optins_Page_fr_Individual_Student_Curses_040611
Prescriptive Testing: Allws students t take a cmprehensive diagnstic pre-test at the start f a curse which pulls ne questin frm each lessn in the curse s that a student may test ut f lessns. A custmized curse is created autmatically fr the student that nly includes lessns that crrespnd t questins the students answered incrrectly. Prescriptive testing can nly be turned n befre the student has begun the curse. Once a curse has begun, the red text shwn in the example belw will appear in the Edit Optins page. Nt all lessns in the Language Arts curses cntain quizzes, therefre, nly Math, Science, and Scial Studies curses shuld utilize Prescriptive Testing.
