9 UNIT OBJECTIVES Cgnitive After the 20-day unit n sccer, the students will develp a basic, fundamental knwledge abut the game f sccer and the skills invlved. The students will learn the rules, the imprtance f sccer arund the wrld, strategy, different frmatins, and varius skills f the game f sccer. The students will als be able t shw what they have learned in a written exam and use the prcess f researching in rder t learn mre abut sccer in ther cuntries. The tw cgnitive areas that the students will be tested n will be a cmprehensive written exam and a typed paper. Having bth an exam and a paper will give students wh d nt take tests well a chance t use writing skills t imprve their grades. This will als expse the students t the knwledge f the game f sccer and nt just the skills f the game. The verall grading scale f the cgnitive dmain f learning will be 33% f the final grade. Affective After a 20-day unit n sccer, the students will develp their scial skill, and I want them t be able t relate t ne anther. These kinds f skills will be develped thrugh gamelike situatins and wrking with partners. Other qualities that will be develped are sprtsmanship, teamwrk, and psitive attitudes. I will keep a daily checklist fr each student with the categries f attitude, participatin, and if they dress fr class r nt. The gal f this unit is t fcus n the attitude f each student while playing the game f sccer. Respecting ther students and the teacher will be mre imprtant than winning during the cmpetitin in class. The verall grading scale f the affective dmain f learning will be 33% f the final grade. Psychmtr After a 20-day unit n sccer, the students will develp the physical skills that will enable them t becme better sccer players. The students will learn the skills f dribbling, passing, shting, galkeeping, and defending that are needed t becme an all arund sccer player. The students will learn new skills in the sprt f sccer, and they will be challenged t try new techniques. The emphasis will be placed n imprving their skills while exercising the crrect technique. There will be tw tests in this area. One f the tests will deal with the skills f dribbling and passing, and the ther test will deal with shting accuracy and technique. The verall grading scale f the psychmtr dmain f learning will be 33% f the final grade.

10 Fitness During the unit n sccer the students will be engaged in daily rutines f fitness befre any sccer skills take place. They will warm-up each day with activities that will imprve their flexibility, strength, and agility, which will increase their level f fitness. They will als participate in game-like situatins and drills with the sccer ball that will increase their fitness level. The main bjective is that the students becme physically fit and stay physically fit fr the rest f their lives. Fitness is nt directly influenced in the unit s grading scale.

11 TASK ANALYSIS Sccer Unit Histry Written paper dne by each student Rules, Strategy, and Frmatins See Handut Dribbling/Ft Skills Keep the ball clse t yur bdy Take a tuch n the ball with every step Knees Bent Head Up On the balls f yur feet Drills: Obstacle Curse Cmpetitin This is a curse using cnes that the students will have t dribble thrugh in a certain amunt f time, and culd be used as a cmpetitin between students. 1 vs. 1 Dribbling There will be a grid r a cuple f grids set up with many different gals made by cnes in the middle f it. The students will have a partner and ne ball. They will play ne vs. ne trying t dribble thrugh as many cnes as pssible in a certain amunt f time while all the ther grups are ding the same thing. Then after a certain amunt f time they will all switch partners and cntinue t imprve their dribbling abilities.

12 Crab Sccer Within a grid that is marked ff by cnes, all but 3-5 students will have a ball. The 3-5 students wh d nt have a ball will be in a crab psitin in the middle f the grid, and the idea is fr the crabs t kick the ther students balls ut f the grid while the students with the balls will have t try t get frm ne end f the grid t the ther. If the crabs kick a ball ut f the grid, the students whse ball was kicked ut then becmes a crab, and the game cntinues until 1 persn remains. Dribbling Within a Grid In this very basic activity, the students will dribble arund in a grid trying t avid running int anyne else. While they are dribbling, they will practice specific mves r ft skills t imprve their dribbling. Knckut Within a grid marked ff by cnes, everyne will have a ball, and everyne will be trying t prtect their ball frm being kncked ut f the grid. Each student will try t kick ther students balls ut f the grid while trying t prtect their wn ball. If a student is kncked ut, they must retrieve their ball and juggle it with their feet until the game is ver. The game is ver when there is ne remaining student left with their ball. 13 There will be cnes set up acrss the field, and the students will stand acrss frm their partner. They will receive the pass with ne tuch, and then they will pass it thrugh the cnes, wrking n accuracy, back t their partner. They will then d it using nly ne tuch. 3 Persn Passing This will be set up by having 2 students with a ball, and the student withut the ball will be in the middle. The student in the middle will run t the first student wh will pass them the ball, and then they will pass it right back t that student and then g t the next student. They will g back and frth fr abut 1 minute, and then they will switch. It can als be used fr ne tuch passing. 6 vs. 6 Thrugh the Cnes There will be tw teams f 6 per team. They will be in a grid that is marked ff by cnes. There will als be gals in the grid, which will be marked ff by cnes, and they will be scattered thrughut the grid. The bjective is t keep pssessin f the ball by dribbling and passing t yur team until yu have an pprtunity t pass the ball thrugh ne f the gals t a player wh is n yur team. By passing it thrugh the gal t anther player n yur team, that team will receive ne pint. This gives the students an pprtunity t imprve their dribbling and passing skills, and it als creates sme gd cmpetitin. Spdnik Passing Drill There will be a zne where the students will make tw-tuch passes back and frth, and then after making a tw-tuch pass, they will run ut f the zne and make a ne-tuch pass t anther student with a ball waiting fr them. They will cntinue t d this and cntinue t rtate. 14 Drills: Wall Pass Shting The students will pass the ball t the teacher r anther student, and then the ball will be passed back t them, and they will take a sht n gal ne tuch. This will be ging n at 2 r 3 different gals s that students will nt stand in line fr very lng. Basic Technique Shting There will be 3 lines facing the gal, and the student will take ne dribble tuch in frnt f them and strike the ball using prper technique, and then they will get their ball and change lines. 3 Gal Sccer There will be 3 gals set up in a large area, and there will be galkeepers in the gals. Each team will be assigned a gal. They will need t defend their gals, but the main bjective is t scre as many gals as pssible in a certain amunt f time in the ther tw gals. Demnstrate Free Kicks and Penalty Kicks The teacher will demnstrate the strategy f free kicks and tell the imprtance f penalty kicks. The students will then participate in a penalty kick cntest. There will be 2 gals s that the students will nt have t stand arund fr a lng perid f time. 4 Gal Sccer Galkeeping There will be 2 gals set up n each side f a very wide but shrt field marked ff by cnes. There will be ne team n each side and 4 galkeepers. The teacher will thrw the ball ut frm the side. When the ball is thrwn ut, the students will run ut in grups f 4 nly and play 4 vs. 4 until smene scres r the ball ges ut f bunds. If the ball is scred the team that scres keeps playing and new team frm the ther side cmes n, but if the ball ges ut f bunds 2 new teams cme n the field. 15 Secure the ball Drills: Partner Thrwing Have each student get with a partner and rll the ball and thrw the ball t each ther practicing catching the ball using the crrect technique. Each student catches 10 balls. Partner Kicking After having the students thrw the ball back and frth, they will kick the ball t each ther and practicing catching the ball with the prper technique. Each student will catch 10 balls. Shting/Galkeeping Cmpetitin Divide the students int 6 teams and have 3 gals. There will be 2 teams per gal. One team will line up n ne pst and ne team n the ther pst. There will be a student wh stands n the side and distributes the balls. The first team will run ut abut 15 yards and sht the ball ne tuch frm the student wh distributes the balls. The ther team will run arund three cnes and then try t blck the sht. Each team will sht fr the same amunt f time and whever has the mst gals wins the cmpetitin. Galie Wars Defending There will be ne student in each gal, and the gals will be abut 25 yards apart. The students will have t try t scre in the ppsing gal, and defend using their galkeeping skills their wn gal. 16 Drills: 2 vs. 2 vs. 2 2 students will pass the ball back and frth while 2 students defend and run using the prper zne defending principles. The 2 students passing the ball will try t pass it by the 2 defenders t the ther side t the ther 2 attacking players. Then after abut 2 r 3 minutes all f the students switch psitins. 2 vs. 2 Have the students get with a partner and the students will play 2 vs. 2 in a marked ff grid. The grid will be very narrw and lng. They will play 2 vs. 2 using the prper zne defending principles, and the students will scre by stpping the ball n the end line. Bgey s Blitz Divide the students int 2 teams. One team will stand at the pst, and the ther team will stand abut yards ut in the field. The balls will be with the team wh is at the pst. There will be a galkeeper. The students at the pst, wh will be playing defense, will play a ball ut t the ther team and run ut with 2 players, and the ffensive team will als cme ut with 2 players. The ffensive team can pass the ball back and bring ut as many as 4 players, and if the ffensive team brings mre players int the field, the defensive team can cunter and bring ut as many as the ffensive teams brings. Bth teams play ffense and bth play defense, and whichever team has mre gals wins the game. The amunt f pints awarded fr each gal is based n hw many players are n the field. This will allw the defensive team t wrk tgether n the zne defending principles. 1 vs. 1 t the Endline The students will be in tw lines. One defensive line and ne ffensive line. The defensive line will pass the ball t the ffensive line and they will begin. They will play t stp the ball n the endline.

17 EVALUATIVE PROCEDURES Cgnitive 33% Pints 1. Written Sccer Term Paper (Day 10) Each student must write a paper n the Influence f Sccer in ther Cuntries. Each student will pick a cuntry t write abut, and that student will then research that cuntry. After ding research abut the cuntry in general and abut the influence f sccer in that cuntry, the student will write a 1-2 page paper abut hw sccer influences that particular cuntry. 50 Pint Scale This paper will be wrth 50 pints, and it will be wrth half f the cgnitive area. 2. Written Sccer Exam (Day 15) 50 Pint Exam This exam will cver the rules f sccer that were discussed in class and n the handut that was given in class. The exam will cver all f the skills learned in class such as dribbling, passing, shting, galkeeping, and defending. The exam will als cver strategy and frmatins.

18 Psychmtr 33% Pints 1. Skills Test #1 (Day 6) Dribbling Obstacle Curse 25 Pints The bstacle curse can be set up in many different ways, but every dribbling bstacle curse shuld have cnes set up s that the students have t dribble in and ut f them. It shuld als have smething that the students will dribble arund and keep cntrl f the ball, and then the bstacle curse shuld have a place where the students shuld be able t dribble with speed and keep cntrl f the ball. The students will need t demnstrate a certain level f speed and cntrl t get the best grade. The students will cme in grups f five, and the ther students will practice dribbling with a partner. Less than 1 minute 25 pints 1 minute 1 minute 30 secnds 20 pints 1 minute 30 secnds 2 minutes 15 pints 2 minutes 2 minutes 30 secnds 10 pints 2 minutes 30 secnds + 5 pints 2. Passing Thrugh Gates 25 Pints The students will get 10 chances t pass a ball thrugh 2 cnes that are set up a certain distance away. This test will be administered the same way that the dribbling test is administered passes thrugh the gate 25 pints 7-8 passes thrugh the gate 20 pints 5-6 passes thrugh the gate 15 pints 3-4 passes thrugh the gate 10 pints 1-2 passes thrugh the gate 5 pints 3. 19 50 Pints The students will get a partner and a chart that lks like the chart belw. Each f the 2 students will execute each ne f the different kinds f shts, and they will d each ne 5 different times. The students will keep practicing these skills until they are able t get them right. The students will wrk n this fr the entire perid. If they get it right away, then they will help the students wh are struggling. 5 shts hit the net in the air 10 pints 5 shts in the right side 10 pints netting 5 shts in the left side 10 pints netting 5 shts n the grund in the 10 pints net 5 shts with ppsite ft 10 pints

Daily Checklist Each day the students will get a 100% fr dressing prperly, participating, and having a gd attitude. 40% will be given fr dressing prperly, 40% will be given fr participating, and 20% will be given fr a gd attitude. Each day the teacher will recrd at the beginning f class if the students dress, the teacher will recrd if the student is participating during class, and the teacher will recrd if the student had a gd attitude during r after class.
