1 Activating the Curse: Pre-Calculus 11 requires students t cmplete a threshld in rder t be cnsidered active in the curse. The threshld cnsists f the first tw assignments; Quadratic Functins 1 and Quadratic Functins 2. This assignment must be submitted and marked befre a student is cnsidered active in the curse. After the activatin assignment is cmpleted this curse is divided int six units. The units can be dne in any rder althugh it is recmmended that yu cmplete them in the suggested rder. Each tpic has vide lessns, 1-2 assignments, and a unit test. Additinally, there is a cumulative final exam. Curse Materials There is n textbk issued fr this curse. Instead, lessns are prvided thrugh StudyFrge. Access t StudyFrge will be granted upn enrlment. The prescribed learning utcmes fr this curse are available at: PreCalculus 11 IRP s. 2 Abut each Unit (in suggested rder) All EBUS curses are designed t allw students t wrk n the material with an individualized, flexible timeline and at their wn pace. The fllwing timeline is a suggestin nly, fr students intending t cmplete the curse within ne semester. Fr students wishing t cmplete the curse within ne schl year, the time suggestins belw shuld be dubled. Quadratic Functins (2.5 weeks): In this unit we will examine parabla functins; including vertex lcatin, axis f symmetry, dmain, range, cmpressin/expansin, max/min stretches and cmpressins. Yu will als apply this understanding in rder t slve wrd prblems. Yu will als using varius factring methds t determine rts f equatins. Tw Assignments 10 multiple chice questins NON-GRAPHING CALCULATOR ONLY Quadratic Systems and Inequalities (2.5 weeks): In this unit we will slve systems f equatins using a variety f methds. Yu will als slve inequalities numerically, then sketch yur answer graphically. One Assignment 7 multiple chice questins Trignmetry (2.5 weeks): In this unit we will state the reference angle f a given angle, determine exact values fr a given trignmetric rati, and slve fr Θ. Yu will als determine the measures f missing sides and angles f a triangle, using the sine and csine laws, including fr the ambiguus case. Tw Assignments 10 multiple chice questins

3 Ratinals and Radicals (2.5-3 weeks): In this unit yu will simplify, slve, and state restrictins fr ratinal expressins. Yu will als simplify, slve, and graph radical expressins. Tw Assignments 8 multiple chice questins Sequences and Series (2.5-3 weeks): In this unit yu will determine general equatins fr a given sequence, and find a specific term r sum fr a given sequence r series. Yu will als differentiate between gemetric and arithmetic sequences, and slve fr variables within a summatin frmula. Tw Assignments 10 multiple chice questins 75 minutes time limit Abslute Value and Reciprcals (2.5 weeks): In this unit yu will evaluate expressins with abslute value signs and graph abslute value functins. One Assignment 9 multiple chice questins Final Exam (Invigilated) 2 hur time limit Cmpsitin depends n versin Cntact yur teacher fr these details prir t writing **Fr a semester-length curse, this leaves 1-2 weeks t study fr the cumulative final exam.

4 Mark Breakdwn Assignments 20 % Unit Tests 50 % Final Exam 30 % Assignments: (20%) Fr each unit there is at least ne assignment that needs t be cmpleted. These assignments are displayed n the curse website and can be accessed directly frm there. Yu may use yur ntes and ther resurces t help yu with the assignment. When yu have cmpleted yur assignment, yu will need t uplad it t the page t be marked. Once the assignments have been marked yu can view them in yur gradebk. A minimum achievement f 50% must be met n each related assignment in rder t have access t that unit test. Students will need t re-submit an assignment until this is satisfied. At that pint resubmissins will nt be accepted. Unit Tests: (50%) There will be a unit test fr each f the PreCalculus 11 units. Please nte that all unit tests are "clsed bk" tests, which means that yu are nt permitted t use the textbk r any ther reference materials t help answer the questins. Yu are permitted t use a calculatr if needed. Each test cnsists f multiple chice questins, fr which yu must als submit written wrk t supprt yur answers. Each questin is wrk 3 marks; 1 mark fr the multiple chice answer, 2 marks fr supprting wrk. That way, even if yur answer is incrrect, yu may still get part marks. Final Exam: (30%) There will be a final exam at the end f the PreCalculus 11 curse. Please nte that it will be a "clsed bk" test, which means that yu are nt permitted t use the textbk r any ther reference materials t help answer the questins. Yu are permitted t use a calculatr if needed. Yur final exam must be invigilated and signed by yur apprved invigilatr indicating that yu tk the test clsed bk. When yu finish the last unit, send me an stating yur intended invigilatr and their address.
