The congress is organized by the European Society for Paediatric Anaesthesiology (ESPA) in collaboration with the Serbian Association of Anaesthesiologists and Intensivists and the Serbian Medical Society, the Section for Anaesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Therapy. The congress gathers outstanding experts from all over the world and all European leaders from the field of paediatric anaesthesiology and covers the latest clinical and experimental evidence in the field. We believe that this congress attracts even more participants than in previous years thanks to great collaboration with the local organizing committee. INVITATION LETTER FROM THE LOC CHAIR Dear partners, Our country has been honoured to host and organize the 8 th European Congress on Paediatric Anaesthesia. The congress is being held in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Belgrade from September 29 th to October 1 st, 2016. Besides our eminent and foreign lecturers, we also expect more than 500 paediatric anaesthesiologists from all over the world to participate in the event. Paediatric anaesthesiologists are engaged in the resuscitation of children, they provide anaesthesia during surgical and diagnostic procedures and also treat severely ill children in intensive care units. In addition, they manage emergency conditions and treat chronic and acute pain. Paediatric anaesthesia is a specific part of anaesthesia that requires special training and education, taking into account that children are not just small adults and every age is unique in terms of anatomy, physiology and psychology. On top of treating children, educating younger colleagues in paediatric anaesthesia, resuscitation, intensive care and pain therapy is also a part of our work. This is the first time that a scientific symposium of such category is being held in Belgrade. This event represents an opportunity for us, as paediatric anaesthesiologists, to present our country and medicine to the world in the best possible way.
