SARA S YMCA CONNECT MOVE BALANCE A DESTINATION FOR THE COMMUNITY Welcome to Sara s YMCA. The vision of Sara s YMCA is to push the limits of the traditional fitness center and reach a diverse and ever growing Ballantyne community. It is designed to accommodate the demands of a technological world, while making relationship building the heart of what we do. ABOUT SARA HARRIS BISSELL This Y will be a living tribute to Sara Bissell. The daughter of James and Angelia Harris, Sara was raised in a family that believed in giving back. Thanks to the generosity and vision of Smoky and Margaret Bissell, this facility will represent Sara s bright spirit and passion for serving others. Sara recognized that when people connect in a place like the Y, they are more likely to serve together to benefit the community.

CONNECT GET CONNECTED As part of our vision, the Y looks to engage people by providing opportunities for people to connect within their community. Sara s YMCA is designed to be the place where people meet for business, share a cup of coffee, network, or just unwind after a workout. The facility is also designed to meet the needs of our members and the corporate community by providing a place to plug in. With a technology savvy lobby space, outdoor patio seating, and innovative conference space, this Y will meet the needs of those we serve. TOGETHERHOOD Togetherhood is the Y s member-led volunteer service program dedicated to strengthening the community. Through Togetherhood, Y members and corporate partners will work with their neighbors and community partners to plan and lead service projects that respond to community needs and to play a direct role in shaping the future of their community. COMMUNITY FITNESS EVENTS Sara s YMCA offers annual outdoor fitness events that bring people together to promote an active lifestyle. These events will be held in the corporate park and are free to the community: Yoga in the Park International Dance Party And more! RUN! BALLANTYNE 8K, 5K AND FUN RUN Race for a cause! The Y s annual 8K, 5K Race and Fun Run will take place on May 14, 2016 at the new Sara s YMCA location in 2016. This is a great community event that brings in over 3,000 participants each year. Don t forget to sign up for the community and corporate division. Training programs are available to help you prepare for Run! Ballantyne and are open to members and non-members.

MOVE Sara s YMCA is designed to create unique fitness spaces based on the needs of people s interests and goals. The fitness center will operate with a balance of traditional strength and cardio equipment while offering open spaces for performance based training and programs to help you get started. HIGH ENERGY Our group exercise studio will continue to deliver a balance of beginner and intense athletic & conditioning classes that our members have grown to expect. This Y will also have the ability to take classes outside with roll up doors that connect to the fitness yard. FITNESS WITH A VIEW Just off the 2nd floor fitness center, the Outdoor Rooftop Terrace space is perfect for sunrise yoga and meditation, stretching or ab work. TRAIN WITH A PRO Our training studio will allow our members to have personalized one-on-one training or small group training led by our Certified Pilates Instructors and TRX Trainers. Small group TRX and reformer classes will run throughout the day. TAKE IT OUTSIDE The outdoor fitness yard allows our members to get fit while taking in the beautiful Charlotte weather. Equipped with a turf surface, the fitness rig will provide programs for unique functional and core training workouts.

BALANCE FIND YOUR BALANCE Sara s YMCA designed a special mind/body studio that provides an opportunity to have a dedicated space for yoga and meditation practice, along with other traditional mind/body classes. HOT YOGA The yoga room was architecturally designed to create a true hot yoga experience with infrared radiant heat hanging panels, anti-bacterial medical grade vinyl flooring and sound attenuation that will make you feel that you are in a private studio. WELLNESS SEMINARS & SPEAKERS Sara s YMCA has recruited some of the areas top notch trainers and fitness & wellness specialists to offer seminars and educational symposiums on a variety of men s and women s health topics and new exercise programs. CAROLINAS REHABILITATION Carolinas Rehabilitation s new location within Sara s YMCA makes it easier for busy adults to get physical therapy and sports medicine care. If you a have a nagging pain or a new injury that limits your abilities, the Carolinas Rehabilitation physical therapists can help you heal better and faster. MEDITATION CLASSES Many people are finding general health benefits by adding meditation to their wellness journey. As part of our mind/body programming, the Y will offer meditation classes that will focus on helping people to go into a deeper level of relaxation and mindfulness. HEALTH CONSULTS Offered as part of our Y membership, health consults are designed to meet you where you are and where you want to be. Our trained staff is available to help you feel your best through tailored programs, goal setting and accountability. NUTRITION Along with exercise, nutrition plays a major role with weight loss or weight maintenance. Everyone s needs and goals are different, so the Y is set up to offer nutrition information and education in a variety of ways: Online education and weight management One-on-one appointments with a Registered Dietitian Group nutrition education classes
