1 Final Edition The Redies Center for Rehabilitation & Healthy Living is unveiled to the community at official ribbon cutting The Redies Center began accepting clients on November 8, 2012, but it would be another two weeks before it was officially opened to the public on November 29, 2012 with a community open house and ribbon cutting. The state-of-theart short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and medical care facility continues a 15 year history of rehabilitation services at Evangelical Home Saline. It is designed and guided by a holistic philosophy to provide clients with a healthy living model of life transformation, rather than a static clinical rehabilitation experience. The 22,000 square foot facility features 54 private and semi-private client suites equipped with Wi-Fi and technology throughout. The additional space also allowed for the construction of a warm, salt water therapy pool, addition of a café, and creation of outdoor walking paths and fitness stations. Prior to the community open house, members of Evangelical Homes Board of Directors welcomed The Redies Foundation, major supporters of the capital campaign for the new facility. Other supporters of the capital campaign were invited to a special preview of the newly expanded rehabilitation facility prior to the official ribbon cutting and community open house. The Ribbon cutting marks the end of a year-long re-imagination of the former hospital space and marks the beginning of a new era for rehabilitation and healthy living care in Saline. While on an intentional path to recovery, clients enjoy light-filled suites with a staff focused on a full range of well-being including social, physical, spiritual, emotional, vocational, and educational wellness. 2 A photo tour of The Redies Center 1. Welcome Desk & Resource Library The new welcome desk replaces former office space for Evangelical Home Saline. The bright new space also houses the admissions and marketing team as well as a resource library. We are in the process of filling the library with helpful books and web-based education tools; the resource library is an asset to current clients, family members, and even members of the community. 2. Fitness Gym & Physical Therapy Center Includes the latest in HUR equipment, stabilization tools and balance enhancement machines, the same equipment used by professional athletes during their training. All of the training equipment has a tracking capabilities, allowing the machines to become respondent to the needs of the client as they progress through recovery. The data cards for every piece of equipment at The Redies Center allows for progress report integration into a client s health record through a web-based portal. The data is a resource for the client s entire medical team to support successful clinical and recovery outcomes.

Occupational Therapy & Life Skills Center Next to the Physical Therapy Center is occupational and speech therapy space, where the focus is on the client s upper body strength, improved fine motor skills and speech. Our registered occupational therapists create an individualized therapeutic plan for each client for enhanced performance and recovery. Clients are able to test their progress in the Life Skills Center. Designed by EHM s LifeChoice Solutions team, clients practice common household tasks such as doing laundry, cooking, and putting away groceries. LifeChoice Solutions is a subsidiary of EHM that provides home adaptations and service & technology solutions to clients in their home so they can remain in the home they love. 4. The Therapy Pool The expansion allowed for the addition of aquatic therapy to the rehabilitation program. Through the client s course of treatment, they are now able to enjoy the benefits of warm water aquatic therapy. The salt water therapy pool provides low-impact therapy options by utilizing the inherent buoyancy of salt water. Therapists are able to properly assess progress by utilizing underwater cameras. 5. Chapel This space was created to allow clients, staff, visitors, friends, and neighbors the opportunity for personal reflection, prayer, and religious services. Designed through a partnership of Evangelical Homes of Michigan and St. Joseph Mercy Saline, the Chapel will also house spiritual reflection books, music, and other resources that allow for a spiritual connection.

Walking Paths & Fitness Stations The therapy team and fitness specialists participated in the design of adding outdoor rehabilitation spaces including an outdoor walking path in an interior courtyard, complete with LifeTrail Fitness Stations to help clients in the recovery process. Paths including a variety of surfaces such as concrete, gravel, grass, and mulch replicate the surfaces a client will encounter upon their return home. 7. The Blossom Cafe The Blossom Café is a healthy, internet café that works seamlessly with the diverse nutritional needs of our clients. Clients benefit from the electronic data system which tracks personal medical records and nutritional information. The café offers an array of dining choices to meet the needs and desires of each client, including room services, a personalized ordering system, and a restaurant environment offering opportunities for socialization. Blossom Café is open to the public from 7 am to 7pm. Adjacent to the café is a relaxing lounge and internet work station.

5 8. Client Suites The new construction has allowed for the addition of private, therapeutic spaces for the client on an intentional path to recovery. Each suite is equipped with built-in bookshelves, a flat screen television, refrigerator, private phone, wireless internet capability, and a connection portal that allows the client to begin communicating with the lifestyle coach that will follow the client home. 9. The Spa & Massage Therapy Suites Massage Therapy is just one more way The Redies Center offers the latest techniques of a variety of disciplines offered to help speed recovery and the healing process, help with pain management, and improve the mental and spiritual journey of the client. Massage therapy is one of the oldest healing arts and is an integral part of wellness. The benefits of massage therapy are varied and far reaching: improving flexibility, increasing circulation, loosening tight or sore muscles, and reducing stress and pain.
