01 Introduction The Business Intelligence & Information Management Symposium 2014 is a two-day conference and Solution Showcase, targeted at senior IT and Business executives. This event, which is being organized for the fourteenth consecutive year, attracted 700 unique attendees last year from the 900 interested subscribers. Considering the continued and increasing interest for Business Intelligence (BI) and Information Management (IM), the presence of our partners and new sponsors, we expect around 1000 interested subscribers and approximately 800 unique attendees this year. With our Event Partners we have been able to organize an even more valuable event for everyone interested or involved in Business Intelligence and Information Management. Focusing on key technologies on the threshold of widespread adoption, the Symposium will offer practical advice on incorporating and implementing these major technologies into current IT strategy. Pragmatically structured around practical content, the event gives delegates the opportunity to put the acquired knowledge directly into practice. The symposium consists of the following components: 1. Keynote Presentations: Speakers from Sogeti Netherlands, Ovum, Platinum Sponsors and other BI and IM specialists will help delegates to understand how they can create value through BI and IM. 2. Case Studies: Platinum and Gold sponsors will introduce end-user clients, who will demonstrate how implemented solutions aid BI and IM. 3. Breakouts: Speakers from Sogeti, End-users, the Platinum, Gold and Silver sponsors will provide more focused sessions, drilling down into the detail of BI and IM. 4. Break-out Introduction: Before lunch each day, the breakout session speakers will have the opportunity to sell their session during a 30 second elevator pitch on the plenary room podium. 5. Solution Showcase / Information Market: All Sponsors will demonstrate their solutions or approaches using presentations and hands-on examples with ample opportunity for delegates to ask questions and discuss possibilities.
