2 INTERMODADRIA: GENERAL OBJECTIVE INTERMODADRIA Supporting intermodal transport solutions in the Adriatic Area Adriatic IPA 2007-2013 Priority 3 Accesibility and network Measure 3.2 Sustainable mobility systems General Objective: To increase the competitiveness of the short sea shipping and to strengthen the attractiveness of intermodal transport solutions serving the ports and logistics nodes in the medium and lower Adriatic area, with particular reference to the integration in the logistics chain of the sea-routes that serve the two shores of the Adriatic and Ionian seas.
3 INTERMODADRIA: SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES The project activities provide a contribution from the bottom addressed to the national and European Institutions on actions on the priority areas of intervention as defined by the EU White paper on transport, as: 1. Incentives for the modal shift form road to rail for maritime freight to/from the hinterland areas; 2. Enhanced integration of short sea shipping in the logistics chain; 3. Support to the promotion of quality jobs in ports, to increase the attractiveness of port professional profiles, avoiding the risk of lack of skilled and qualified workforce.
4 INTERMODADRIA: EUROPEAN POLICY & ADRIATIC-IONIAN STRATEGY Project objectives follow the European transport policy and the White paper strategy and specific objectives: To shift 30% of freight transport movements over 300KM from road to train and sea transport within 2030 (50% within 2050); To Implement TEN-T network within 2030. Project objectives are in line with Adriatic-Ionian Macro Region strategy to promote sustainable economic and social prosperity of the Adriatic and Ionian region, by improving its attractiveness, competitiveness and connectivity while - at the same time - preserving the environment and coastal ecosystems.
