1. Euromax Terminal EUROMAX Terminal, phase 1 Total area: 84 Ha Quay length: 1.5 km Quay cranes: 12 Water depth: metres 7
2. Changes in the market place The container market will keep on growing TEU container ships will become common Liners are looking for more capacity and comfort of doing business Road congestion is increasing in Europe Cooperation in the logistic chain is a must to improve the optimum flow of containers through the logistics chain Sustainable transport will become increasingly important 8
2. Increasing volumes and scale Thousands Volumes ECT in TEU Euromax MV 1 Delta Future MV ECT: continuous growth 2007 weekly numbers: deepsea/feeder moves 40 deepsea calls 100 feeder calls 400 barge calls 200 trains 17,000 trucks Port of Rotterdam: 2007: 10,8 million TEU (+12%) 2009: 13 million TEU (forecast) To Benelux: 50% To Germany: 30% To other: 20% 9
2. Increasing volumes and scale Increasing size of scale 10
3. Sustainable terminal operations ECT s integrated approach to sustainable terminal operations - Capacity and efficiency of marine terminals - Intermodal hinterland strategy - Well-designed terminals and efficient operations - Logistic concepts - Focus on the environment 11

3. Minimise impact on our environment Increase in traffic flows and global transport causes environmental damage, but: Almost everything at the Euromax Terminal is completely driven by electricity less use of fossil fuels Significant reduction of emissions Terminal operates fully automatically fewer light sources are needed Noise levels are very limited compared to old terminals Cooperation with suppliers for improved performance of their equipment Better utilization of the network larger consignments of cargo by rail and barge, less pressure on the roads 18
4. Added value of the Euromax Terminal Adding capacity: 2.3 million TEU. 1/3 of ECT s current capacity and 1/4 of the capacity of the Port of Rotterdam Answer to growing demand for deep-sea container handling capacity in Northwest Europe The Euromax Terminal is the bridge to Maasvlakte II with all the capacity needed for future growth Capable of handling ultra large vessels 24 hrs a day Substantial contribution to the future growth of both the Port of Rotterdam and the City of Rotterdam Ideal logistic connections for further logistics to the hinterland directly connected to the Betuweroute railinfrastructure A new benchmark in building a safe and environmentfriendly terminal 19
4. Added value of the Delta Barge Feeder Adding dedicated capacity of 300,000 barge and feeder moves per year Decreasing pressure on the deep-sea quaywall Offering higher flexibility for our customers More efficient and faster container handling directly from deep-sea to barges and feeders Capability of speeding up operations by pre-stacking containers Strengthening our integrated approach by better utilizing our network. Ideal logistic connections for further logistics to the hinterland and to the feederports 20
4. Contribution to the labour market Since mid 2004 ECT has recruited 720 new operational employees ECT will hire 40 new operational employees each month from September December Adding another 160 employees in total to our operational workforce for the rest of the year 21
