VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT World Concern is a Christian Relief and Development organization with operations in Asia, Africa and Haiti. Since 1995, World Concern has had continued presence in Myanmar while implementing community based relief and development programs in Kachin, Shan, Mon and Ayeyarwaddy. Our focus is on building capacity of local organizations, primary health care, WASH, food security, child protection and DRR. Nutrition Advisor 1 Yangon, Country Director (Part Time) Country Office ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nutrition Advisor (Part Time) Role Statement: To take responsibility for the quality of the nutrition program in World Concern Myanmar by working together with Health Advisor, health team supervisor and health technicians, in consultation with the Country Director and consortia members. The purpose of the position is to ensure overall quality and technical support throughout implementation of the LIFT project, specifically outputs directly and indirectly impacting the nutritional status of beneficiaries. A. Specific Responsibilities: To perform the following functions and responsibilities: I. Quality Implementation 1. Responsible for leading the Nutrition Causal Analysis (NCA) during Inception phase including design, data collection, analysis and write-up. 2. Design and develop monitoring and evaluation (tracking all indicators output 1, 2, and 3) tools in Kobo collect in order to collect data on tablets for continuous quality improvement throughout the project life span. 3. Based on the NCA, incorporate the findings into staff capacity building, learning and training materials. 4. Provide extensive staff capacity building in nutrition and integration of WASH, household gardens and mother support groups
5. Together with health supervisor and technicians, develop training materials for nutrition focal points and mother groups taking into consideration community based approaches relevant to the context. 6. Ensure that training materials are in line with national and international guidelines and policies for MNCH and Nutrition. 7. In collaboration with health team ensure timely and accurate recording and reporting based on the donor guidelines, forms and protocols. 8. Participate actively in quarterly review meetings using these as an opportunity for sensitizing staff on nutrition sensitive programming, problem solving and follow up. 9. Work together with consortia members/project staff on smooth implementation and integration of activities whilst keeping the communities best interest at heart. II. Health staff recruitment and training 1. Advise on the development of appropriate job descriptions for the health team positions 2. Assess whether the applicants have the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to be able to carry out the duties required for the position. 3. Ensure that the selection process is up to the standard, and is carried out equitably and is free from biases and discriminations. 4. Support the orientation for the health staff in the work plan, logical framework and monitoring and evaluation 5. Ensure that gender equity and sensitivity is considered in all recruitment process. 6. Provide continuous technical assistance to the health staff to understand and implement project activities 7. Support the health supervisor during performance review period of health technicians based on experiences of capacity building monitoring and support. 8. Help the supervisor in developing capacity building plan for the staff according to the findings from the Performance Review discussion sessions. III. Development of project materials (IEC, recording and reporting formats at community and project level) 1. Develop field support schedule and recording formats in the tablets to support follow up supportive supervision visits. 2. Find resources for the necessary training and capacity building of the staff and develop the capacity building plan accordingly. 3. Support the development/adaptation of context specific IEC and BCC materials 4. Provide guidance and technical capacity building to the health supervisor to perform his/her duties 5. Help prevent and address any work related conflict in the field and office.
IV. Personal Development: Review and reflect own performance skill through self-analysis and performance review with the Country Director to develop professional skills and job effectiveness in both formal and informal ways. V. Others 1. Independently deal with problems and issues that emerge and if the issue goes beyond own mandate and / or resources, bring it to the attention of the CD. 2. Perform any other project related duties as assigned by Country Director. 3. Participate in WC Myanmar working groups according to own interest and talents. B. Qualification Must be a University Degree holder. Master degree in Public Health preferred. Experience in the area of public health with development organizations is required. Experience in Maternal, Newborn and Child Health and Nutrition is a must. Demonstrated ability to teach and train others Experience in continuous quality improvement of project through consistent monitoring and follow up. Strong written and oral communication skills. Proficient in the English Language in writing and speaking. Able to work under stressful situation. Able to work independently C.
