ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and nongovernmental partners. With 155 member states, and offices in over 100 countries, IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. IOM Myanmar was established in 2005 and implements across a range of thematic areas, with plans to broaden programming in a changing national context of Myanmar. Current programmatic portfolio includes Counter Trafficking and Migrant Protection/Labour Migration, Peace Building, Migration Health, Migration and Development, Preparedness and Emergency Response/Recovery, and Capacity Building in Migration Management. IOM works with counterparts and stakeholders at national, Region/State, township and community levels, as well as a range of UN and I/NGO partners. IOM Myanmar presently has over 550 staff most of whom are stationed in the nine field sub offices. IOM s programming in will among others, target to build the capacity and coordination mechanism of government to enhance their service delivery to migrants during crisis. The overall objective is to reduce migrant specific vulnerabilities during emergencies in their country of destination. 1
3 III. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission (CoM), general supervision of the Programme Manager (Migrant Protection) and direct supervision of the National Project Officer (Migrant Protection), the successful candidate will in particular: 1. Support the desk study by following up with relevant government and other organizations to collect questionnaires, required information and relevant literature materials to feed into the desk study 2. Provide logistical support during organization of meetings, trainings and other events required for the implementation of the MICIC project. 3. Organize all operational and administrative tasks needed for the implementation of the MICIC capacity building programme in Myanmar. 4. Support the organization of travels and stays in the country by the project team, teleconferences and events for the roll out of the programme. 5. Support in gathering necessary information on the implementation of the programme and on the roll out of the specific capacity building activities to relevant national counterparts and stakeholders. 6. Undertake regular duty travel within Myanmar, as may be required for project implementation purposes; and 7. Perform such other duties as may be assigned. IV. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Myanmar national with bachelor university degree in social science, business or project management or related field. Experience in UN and/or NGOs in a project implementation, with experience in migration related issues is highly desirable. Experience in the field of implementing migration related projects. Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, other national/international institutions. Report writing skills. VI. LANGUAGES Required Fluency in Myanmar and English is required. Advantageous Local knowledge and local language in project areas would be an advantage. 4
