WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY COURSES Workplace Heath and Safety is a key focus area for many organisations today. AVELING provides courses to help train and develop your team. Our courses include: Area Warden This course enables participants to effectively identify, assess and respond to a number of different workplace emergencies. Participants will learn the relevant legislative, industry, customer and organisational requirements, including health and safety policies and procedures. This course links to the following unit of competency: PUAWER005B Operate as part of an emergency control organisation Basic Chemical Spill Response This interactive course assists participants to identify chemicals and follow correct procedures during chemical spills. Regular training in the correct use of spill response equipment will ensure team members are able to employ safe methods to control spills effectively. Conduct Safety and Health Investigations Our practical one-day course provides the information and process on how to safely, effectively and efficiently conduct safety and health investigations. The process involves determining the objectives for an investigation, planning and organising, engaging people, drawing conclusions and writing reports to present to others. This course links to the following unit of competency: RIIWHS301D Conduct safety and health investigations Fire Training Once a fire starts, every second counts! Our fire training course provides the theory and practice needed to safely and effectively use a fire extinguisher, fire hose reel and fire blanket. Through innovative technology, participants will gain practical experience in using each piece of equipment to extinguish real fires in a safe and controlled environment. This course links to the following unit of competency: CPPFES2005A Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment Job Safety Analysis (JSA) Anyone who contributes to the creation of a Job Safety Analysis for tasks in the workplace should attend this hands-on course. This course links to the following unit of competency: RIIRIS201D Conduct local risk control OHS for Team Leaders This course will assist supervisors gain an understanding of risk and safety responsibilities and assist them to lead work teams to ensure compliance in these areas. The course includes case studies and group discussions to highlight the importance of monitoring relevant policies and procedures, as well as creating solutions to safety, risk and health problems. WORKPLACE MENTAL HEALTH AVELING supports a culture of Mental Health and Wellbeing in the workplace. Our aim is to provide information and resources to promote wellbeing for everyone in the workplace. Our courses include:ce An Introduction to Workplace Mental Health Mental health is essential to our health and wellbeing, yet is not well understood. This course provides an overview of mental health in the workplace for HR and OHS specialists, leaders and supervisors, as well as workers. Topics include the legal responsibility of both workers and employers; the benefits of a mentally healthy workplace; workplace risk factors and how to identify them; and how to develop an Action Plan for workplace mental health. Mental Health for Fly-In, Fly-Out (FIFO) Workers and Managers The mental health of FIFO workers and their families has come under scrutiny following media reports of suicides and a recent WA Parliamentary Inquiry into FIFO Mental Health. This course provides an overview of the factors that impact on FIFO families and their mental health. An Introduction to Workplace Suicide Prevention Recent statistics show that there are an average of 6.9 deaths by suicide in Australia each day. They also show that Western Australia has the third highest suicide rate. This course highlights the importance of workplaces in preventing suicide. Mental Health Awareness Online Training When we hear the term mental health, words that come to mind for most people include schizophrenia, suicide, anxiety and other disorders or psychological conditions. If you thought about these terms, you re not alone; but in fact, they are better defined as mental illnesses. The focus of this online course is on mental health, and looking at what it means to be mentally healthy.
RIO TINTO IRON ORE SPECIFIC COURSES (RTIO) AVELING is privileged to be a preferred provider of site-entry inductions for Rio Tinto Iron Ore (WA), who is a world-class asset manager, operating and maintaining all mining, rail, port and power facilities in the Pilbara on behalf of the asset owners, Hamersley Iron and Robe River. RTIO courses include: Iron Ore Essentials for Site - Contractors (IOE4S-C) and Iron Ore Essentials (IOE) The IOE4S-C and IOE computer based training have been designed to enhance the learning and retention of key safety information and contributes to RTIO (WA)'s goal of ensuring people, environment and workplaces are safe. Electrical Workers Competency, Arc Flash and Low Voltage Rescue These courses deal with RTIO (WA)'s safe electrical work procedures, management of electrical and arc flash hazards and the selection of correct arc flash personal protective equipment. The aim is to ensure all electrical personnel remain current with changes to applicable electrical codes and safe work practices. Isolation Training Isolation Regulations exist to provide a set of procedures which will enable work to be performed safely.
