1 Executive Summary This dcument deliverable D11.6, as the Prject Website reprt describes the website, http://www.cmpaninable.net, that is the web presence f the EU prject CmpaninAble as well as an effective tl fr publicity, disseminatins and cllabrative wrking acrss the Cnsrtium. 2 Intrductin 2.1 Backgrund CmpaninAble is an Integrated Research Prgramme within the 7 th Framewrk. It is fcussed n Research Technlgy Develpment and Innvatin (RTDI) t supprt Ambient Assisted Living (AAL); in particular t push frward t frntiers f research in integrated assistive rbtics within Smart Hme Envirnments. An imprtant facility in raising awareness f the results and utcmes f the CmpaninAble prject is the prject website. It is a majr disseminatin channels and has been peratinal since the beginning f the prject. 2.2 Scpe f this deliverable This dcument is the accmpanying reprt fr the CmpaninAble prject website. It describes the structure and cntent f the website and the services it ffers. Naturally the website is under cntinuus develpment and updating, in the sense that new cntent is being added, e.g. news and publicatins, and its features are adapted t meet the evlving needs fr the users. Therefre this deliverable shuld be regarded as a snapsht f the website at the pint f release f this reprt. 5
3 Website Cntent 3.1 General Descriptin The CmpaninAble Prject Website is hsted by the University f Reading and is reachable thrugh the URLs http://www.cmpaninable.net and http://www.cmpaninable.rg; bth have a redirectin t the University s server. The website is based n a Micrsft SharePint Server technlgy. 3.2 Micrsft SharePint Server The Micrsft SharePint Server technlgy ffers several services that the CmpaninAble website benefits frm. These services include: Events, Cntacts, Discussins, Annuncements, Dcument Libraries, and thers. They will be described in detail in chapter 3.3.2. 3.3 Structure f the CmpaninAble Website The website is divided int a public and a private sectin, the latter ne being restricted fr access by Cnsrtium members nly. 3.3.1 Public sectin f the CmpaninAble Website This sectin cmprises f the main r starting page hme, the verview page prject verview, the news & pictures page, a public dcuments page, a Partners page, and a cntacts page. Figure 1 presents the start page. The hme page is, as already said, the starting pint and cntains an intrducing abstract abut the prject. Furthermre the page cntains a summary f the latest news. Frm the hme page each f the abve mentined pages and the private sectin is reachable via hyperlinks, as it is true fr all pages, private and public. 6

Thus, this page has mre f a static nature as the cntent will hardly change. The news & pictures page cntains the cmplete versin f the news summarised n the hme page. This news is nt nly cncerned with prject events, but are als meant t infrm abut advances in technlgies related t the CmpaninAble prject r the Partners invlved. Only current r recent news is displayed n this page. T access ld news and pictures (see Figure 2) f events tw further hyperlinks are prvided n the news & pictures page. 7
Figure 2: Pictures Page The public dcuments page will prvide infrmatin abut all publicly available prject deliverables as well as scientific publicatins frm Partners, and prject disseminatin material such as flyers, presentatins, etc. The dcuments will be made available as sn as they becme available. The Partners page lists the rganisatins invlved in the CmpaninAble prject and prvides links t sub-pages f the website describing each Partner and their rle in the prject in a mre detailed way. Finally, the cntacts page cntains the cntact details f the Crdinatr f the CmpaninAble Prject, Atta Badii frm the University f Reading. This is t enable ptentially interested persns t gather mre infrmatin abut the prject and its results. 3.3.2 Private sectin f the CmpaninAble Website The private sectin f the CmpaninAble website is nly accessible by Cnsrtium members. Figure 3 shws a screen sht f the private sectin s start page. 8
Figure 3: CmpaninAble Web Site Private Sectin The private sectin prvides services fr cllabratin and management f the prject which are facilitated thrugh the MS SharePint characteristics. 3.3.2.1 Dcument Library One f the mst imprtant features fr cllabrative wrk is the Dcument Library Shared CmpaninAble Dcuments, as depicted in Figure 4 which has the fllwing facilities: Dcument library f WSS (windws share pint service) prvides feature f shared dcuments. Uplad and dwnlad f dcuments within the dcument library f WSS (windws share pint service) Versining f Dcuments At the mment there is ne sectin fr each wrk package, as well as a sectin fr meeting (- preparatin), Dcument Templates, Administrative Material and final deliverables which have been submitted t the EC. 9

3.3.2.3 Discussin Experience shws that frums are an excellent tl fr discussing technical matters and exchanging pinins and knwledge n tpics f limited scpe. Therefre the CmpaninAble web site private sectin prvides a discussin frum (as shwn in Figure 6). Each registered user can pst new tpics and reply t pen issues. Figure 6: Discussin Frum 3.3.2.4 Events A calendar gives infrmatin abut upcming meetings, deadlines and ther imprtant events in the private sectin. Features such as starting date, end date, starting time, ending time, descriptin f the event, lcatin and recurrence can be specified. The events can als be displayed as a list t give a cnclusive verview. Of curse filtering features such as filtering by lcatin, title etc. is available t. The events sectin is shwn in Figure 7 and Figure 8. 12

Figure 8: Calendar 3.3.2.5 Links and Annuncements As can be seen in Figure 3 the starting page f the private sectin prvides the features annuncements and links. In the annuncements sectin Partners can fr example ntify Partners f imprtant events, calls fr papers r cntributins etc. In the Links sectins Partners can pst links t relevant websites. This prvides an easy library f links fr example t related Eurpean prjects, cnferences, research rganisatins, etc. 3.3.2.6 Alerts Fr each f the items abve Alerts can be enabled that send a ntificatin by email if changes have been made, e.g. a new dcument has been upladed, r a new event has been added. The alerts can be either n a level f immediate, daily, r weekly ntificatin. Especially fr discussins and shared dcuments the alerts have prven useful fr Partners t stay infrmed and updated, thus reducing the delay in the cllabrative wrk. 14
4 Web Site Administratin As already stated befre, the team f the University f Reading is respnsible fr updating and administrating the CmpaninAble prject web site. Micrsft SharePint prvides fur different user rles t be assigned by the site administratr: 1. Administratr has full access t all parts f the website. 2. Web Designer can create lists and can change the design and layut f the web site 3. Cntributr can add cntent t existing dcument libraries and lists. 4. Reader has read-nly access t the web site. Currently there is ne Administratr/Web Designer, the rest f the users are Readers/Cntributrs. The user grups are nly accessible in the private sectin, whereas fr the public sectin any part can be accessed but nly the Administratr/Web Designer has the right t change anything. T add a new user, Partners send a request t the University f Reading cntact pint. The user data, i.e. lgin name and passwrd, will then be transmitted t the new user fr him t be able t access the private sectins. The back-up prcedures fr the SharePint server at the University f Reading where the web site is being hsted implements a daily incremental backup, as well as a weekly full backup and snap sht. 15

It has described the infrmatin cntained in the publicly accessible sectin as well as the functinalities and features f the sectins accessible nly t the prject Partners.
