Cerberus Lavatory and Crew Rest Smoke Detection System KTA 2400 D Overview This system has been designed to meet the FAA Rule 14 CFR - Part 121 - Airplane Cabin Fire Protection and similar regulations in countries outside of the USA. The KTA 2400 System is QAC 101 (DGAC), AR -514 (CAA) and TSOC1C (FAA) approved and was certified as BFE equipment by Boeing and Mc Donnell Douglas for B737, B747-400 and MD11 aircraft respectively. Each toilet compartment is fitted with an optical smoke detector installed on the ceiling and connected to a control panel generally located in the galley area.
Three types of control panels are available: TRA 72-20 with up to 2 channels (2 detectors). TRA 72-60 and TRA 73-60 with up to 6 channels (6 detectors). All these types use the aircraft 28VDC. They are fitted with 2 to 6 alarm indicator lamps, 1 audible alarm (buzzer), 3 pushbuttons: 1 for test of the entire system, 1 for audible alarm cancellation and 1 for reset. Also two 28V/1A alarm outputs are provided on each panel to monitor devices such as cabin attendant call system, a remote lamp in the flight deck, etc. Two Types of Smoke Detectors can be used: FTA 719-01 without provision for a response indicator or FTA 720-01 with provision for a response indicator to be fitted outside the toilet above the door. Both detectors are of the latest generation of optical smoke detectors which introduce the latest technologies in photo -optics and ensure significant reduction of false alarms and enhanced smoke detection. They are installed in the ceiling of each toilet (one detector per toilet). Key features - The Control Panel is separated from the Smoke Detectors. Hence it can be mounted at any suitable remote location in the aircraft. Most likely in the galley area. - A complete functional test of the system and its connections can be performed with simple Push to Test button on the Control Panel. - Clear indication of the alarm / fault locations on the Control Panel. - The Control Panel is provided with an Alarm Horn (90dB at 1 meter) and a Horn Off Pushbutton. - Two Alarm outputs are available, one flashing and one steady. - Cigarette smokers detection. - Possibility to connect a remote light indicator which may be placed on the outside of the Lavatory / Crew Rest door. - New generation optical type smoke detectors. - The KTA 2400 is certified FAA TSOC1C for all civil aircraft types applications. 2
