PROFESSIONAL CAREER DEVELOPMENT LOAN (CDL) Professional Career Development Loans are bank loans that may be used to help pay for work-related learning. CDL s loan between 300 and 10,000 to help support the costs of up to two years of learning (or three years if it includes one year s relevant unpaid practical work). The Education Funding Agency will pay the interest on the loan during the course being studied and for one month afterwards. The loan can be used to pay course fees or other costs such as travel and living expenses. The loan can also be used to supplement other forms of support, such as grants or bursaries. Because CDL is a commercial loan product, it should only be considered as an option once all other student funding options have been investigated. Our learning provider registration number is: 6064. 28 29

MONEY MATTERS 24+ ADVANCED LEARNING LOANS What are they? They are student loans similar to Higher Education loans, but for the Further Education sector. The loan is available to meet the upfront costs of any qualification, which will be paid directly to the College. Who is eligible for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan? Individuals who are: Aged 24 or over at the start of their course Studying at level 3 or level 4 (including QCF Certificates and Diplomas, Access to HE, A Levels and Advanced and Higher Apprenticeships) Resident in the UK Have not previously had a loan to do the same qualification type and level of qualification. Loans will not be means-tested (or subject to credit checks) and any individual who meets the criteria above will be able to apply for a loan irrespective of their current employment status. What does it mean? There is nothing to pay upfront for course fees and if the student is not earning over 21,000, they don t pay anything back. If the loan is for an Access to Higher Education programme and the student completes Higher Education study, they will not have to pay back the further education loan.
