CEO 24 VACANT S208 DOUGLAS BOROUGH COUNCIL JOB EVALUATION SCHEME JOB DESCRIPTION (Grade S.O. 2, SCP 30 36 ( 31,404-37,005) DEPARTMENT SUB-SECTION DESIGNATION REPORT TO Chief Executive s ICT Department Senior ICT Officer - Infrastructure Assistant Chief Executive MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB Assist the Head of ICT to ensure the ICT Service meets the needs of the Council and is delivered effectively and efficiently as possible in line with the Council s Policies, Strategies, Corporate Plan and overall requirements. Assist in the design, development and implementation of Corporate Infrastructure Systems Be a key and proactive member of the ICT Team participating fully in the development of a team culture and carrying out tasks normally undertaken by other members of the team when necessary. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERSONAL DUTIES 1. Design configure tune install and support Servers and their operating systems. 2. Design configure tune install and support Networks and their operating systems to include building infrastructure local area networks wide area networks radio telephone systems and CCTV. 3. Design configure tune install and support Desktops and their operating systems. 4. Design configure tune install and support security and firewalls to prevent any unauthorised access. 5. Design configure tune install web systems liaising with suppliers as required. 6. Procure systems and negotiate contacts service level agreements acceptance criteria post implementation support and payment profiles.
7. Manage systems contracts liaising with suppliers to obtain advice and support. 8. Project manage major and minor projects to meet objectives and success criteria to ICT standards including testing documentation and acceptance. 9. Manage assistant staff as required ensuring they are trained to meet their full potential. 10. Ensure the Council s requirements are understood at all levels so that Corporate and Departmental systems underpin Services. 11. Prepare and maintain ICT standards so that they are easily understood and practiced. 12. Ensure all work has targets and deliverables to meet these targets. 13. Liaise with internal service departments where works are required for ICT systems. 14. Assist with strategic development and the production of annual development plans. 15. Provide cover for the Customer Service Desk when required. 16. Work extended hours as requested by the Head of ICT/Assistant Chief Executive and to be available to assist with out of hours emergencies. 17. Assist the Head of ICT and ICT colleagues as required. 18. SELECTION CRITERIA Essential 1. ICT related qualification to A level or equivalent 2.
