1 JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title Department Division Reports to Salary Range ICT Digital Asset Management System (DAMS) Manager Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Corporate Services Head of ICT 40,338-45,656 a year Purpose of the job The ICT department is responsible for the provision and development of information systems within Imperial War Museums (IWM), which is a family of five branches: IWM London, Churchill War Rooms, HMS Belfast, IWM Duxford and IWM North. ICT work includes the procurement, development, installation and maintenance of computer hardware, (data) network services and software, this covers both server and client PC based requirements. For the last few years the ICT team has been engaged in many exciting major projects transforming ICT infrastructure at IWM and with many of those initiatives now complete, the increasing emphasis is now on improving the levels of services offered by ICT to maintain our modern infrastructure and increase levels of IT security. The post holder will manage the Digital Asset Management System (DAMS) and will be responsible for the delivery of a support service and will ensure that all operational support tasks are followed up and fulfilled. The post will play a key role in managing and maintaining the DAMS and all components of the IWM DAMS ICT infrastructure, including client PC support, servers and LAN\WAN connections between all IWM sites. The ICT DAMS Manager will also identify operational priorities in the provision of support and development requirements for the DAMS infrastructure and will monitor and advise on the overall service provision and infrastructure policy. The post will also be responsible for all ICT data capacity planning and backup procedures and will work with the Infrastructure team to maintain a robust backup system. There is an extensive digital archive of several hundred terabytes of data. Your duties You will provide corporate support and management of the IWM s DAMS infrastructure, managing the day-to-day operations using the ITIL framework. You will take responsibility for the infrastructure element of the DAMS and use the Service Desk to make sure all incidents/ are dealt with effectively and in a timely fashion by you and the ICT team. Through liaison with the ICT Service Desk you will manage the provision of first line support to all IWM DAMS client PCs and the infrastructure. You will provide expert technical knowledge and guidance on Network Operating Systems (Microsoft Windows Server), IP and associated network environments and protocols and the ICT Digital Asset Management System (DAMS) Manager

2 development and implementation of the IWM DAMS architectures to directly support IWM business objectives in line with the IWM Corporate Plan. You will provide expert technical support to the DAMS and support ICT security (patching and updates) ensuring the team conducts all necessary patching. You will provide support for PCI compliance activities. You will undertake development and management of all system support and administration documentation to IWM and departmental standards; you will ensure that the IWM s written IT procedures are followed and kept up to date, identifying areas where written procedures are required. You will work closely within the ICT team and other departments (particularly Collections, Digital Media, Retail and Admissions) to provide advice and expertise on ICT infrastructure solutions, and appropriate and creative methods of delivery and support. You will identify resource requirements for IWM DAMS infrastructure technical systems and make development recommendations to the Head of ICT to ensure a cost effective and efficient service delivery; you will be responsible for budget control of any infrastructure support projects. You will assist the Head of ICT in commissioning and managing work from external suppliers and contractors as required. You will conduct technical feasibility studies as required including the replacement of the DAMS infrastructure with new technology. You will contribute to the design and management of IWM Business Continuity plans (IWM network infrastructure / data storage) an corporate storage capacity planning. You will assist in identification of and delivery of user IT training as required. You will ensure the provision of support and network services to all customers between the hours of and Monday to Friday, except for statutory holidays. You will provide support for colleagues in answering customer calls, even from customers for whose support you are not directly responsible, in line with ICT call logging procedures. Ensure that all calls logged are brought to the attention of the relevant team member to action You will maintain awareness of relevant developments in the IT area, bringing all such developments to the attention of the Head of ICT. You will make sure all Staff and Volunteers are inducted in department procedures and have an awareness of their task risk assessments, provide training skills to support safe working practices for the safety of themselves and others including members of the public by ensuring all plant and equipment is safe in use and that arrangements are made with FM to rectify/repair any damaged/dangerous plant or equipment and any safety issues raised, must be noted and action taken at the time reported. You will carry out all necessary risk assessments for all tasks, investigate accidents and near-miss incidents to produce post accident or near-miss risk assessments. Daily check of the work area to ensure housekeeping standards are maintained the interests of health & safety. Additional Information Terms and Conditions Your normal hours of work will be 41 hours gross and 36 hours net per week. This would normally be Monday to Thursday 09:00-17:15 and Friday 09:00-17:00, unless otherwise agreed with your line manager. There is a requirement on occasions to work unsocial hours or at weekends for which leave in lieu will be granted. The annual leave allowance is 25 days per annum in addition to public holidays, rising to 30 days after five year s service. IWM has introduced a total ban on smoking in all its buildings. In the first 13 months of service you are only eligible to Statutory Sick Pay. Salary The salary range for the post is 40,338-45,656 a year. Starting salary is normally at the minimum of the range. Salary increases are in line with the IWM s Performance Pay Scheme, which is subject to government pay policy.
