Certificate IV in Training and Assessment 40110 Handbook Upgrade in Combination with 30987QLD - Certificate IV in Teaching Conversational English (TESOL) Customised form The Training Collaborative Handbook to be pertinent for ITA courses for full handbook see The Training Collaborative http://trainingcollaborative.com.au/wpcontent/uploads/2015/08/student-handbook-2015.pdf Registered Training Organisation The Training Collaborative Provider No: 30002

Welcome! This course being offered by Intercultural Training Australia Ltd is distinctive for its hands on teaching skills. It is conducted by a highly qualified and experienced team of trainers with the aim of releasing people into ministry. This course is being delivered by Intercultural Training Australia Ltd under the auspices of The Training Collaborative (Provider No 30002), which will issue the qualification. Because The Training Collaborative is a Registered Training Organisation, this qualification is nationally recognised. The Training Recognition Council in Queensland has accredited the course. It is listed on the national register, training.gov.au, with the national code of TAE40110. Course Information NB: This information should be read by intending students prior to enrolment About the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 (Cert IV TAA) course: This course combining Cert IV in Teaching Conversational English (TESOL) (either 30664QLD or 30987QLD) ) with Cert IV TAA (TAE40110) is offered only to ITA graduates or current trainees who have completed 2/3 of the lectures due to the fact that a percentage of Cert IV TAA (TAE40110) is built into the TESOL course. Cert IV TAA is a qualification required for all vocational trainers in most industries in Australia (e.g. TAFE and apprenticeship based training in industry). Please note: In addition to Cert IV TAA, the English teaching industry in Australia requires the minimum of a Cert IV in TESOL and a Bachelor degree. The Cert IV TAA course is offered in face to face 12 hours of training. This training is offered in various workshop modes. For venues and modes please see website: www.itateach.com or contact the ITA office. The assessment includes 3 hours of workplace training. The workshops and assessment has been developed to further the context of English teaching but is transferrable to other contexts. Currently two pathways to completing the Cert IV TAA course exist depending on the accreditation dates of the TESOL course undertaken. Time Commitment: The full course consists of 10 units taking 285 hours: Lectures Training practice Tutorial support and consultation time In addition to the training workshops, the course also requires some reading, research and preparation of sessions and assignments. Please note: As outlined in the pathway above ITA Cert IV in Teaching Conversational English (TESOL) graduates have already completed a significant amount of this load. Workers may need to negotiate with their workplace for these 3 hours of practice training. Assessment This course is assessed holistically as far as is possible. Many of the assessment activities cover elements from several units of competency, all being assessed together. This means students are required to do fewer assessment activities than if each unit were to be assessed separately. Please note that students who do not complete the whole course may have difficulty completing the full assessments required for any individual unit of competency. A holistic approach to assessment has been adopted because the objective of the course is to provide a set of integrated skills. There are 7 assessment activities. These are: Task 1 Case study 1 Learning program Task 2 Case study 2 RPL decision Task 3 Case study 3 Training in a workplace Task 4 Training in a Workplace Portfolio Task 5 Assessment Plans and Review Task 6 Participate in validation meetings Task 7 Written Quiz open book on all course content, done at home Teachers will provide submission dates and details of the assessment during the course. Please note: several of these assessments are completed during the training workshops. Assessment Task Completion Due dates for the Assessment Tasks will be provided in the course overview or during the course. All Assessment Tasks will be due 3 months from the final date of the course. If Assessment Tasks are still outstanding beyond the 3 month period, trainees will be sent an email reminding them that the Assessment Tasks due date has elapsed. They will be advised that they will need to submit all remaining Assessment Tasks by the extended date (6 months from the final date of the course) or they will need to pay a $50 fee per Assessment Task (or part thereof) on submission of each Assessment Task. There will be no further reminders about Assessment Tasks initiated by ITA beyond the email sent after the 3 month elapse date as the trainees are required by industry to exhibit the following Employability Skills for a Certificate IV qualification: Planning and Organising o planning, prioritising and organising workflow o organising the human, physical and material resources required for learning and assessment Self-management o managing work and work relationships o taking personal responsibility in the planning, delivery and review of training Certification IV in Training and Assessment 40110 Handbook 2015 Intercultural Training Australia Ltd Page 3 of 9
