Activity opportunities There are a variety of different leisure and sporting activities on offer. The emphasis in these sessions is to be physically active and to have fun. Most sessions are facilitated by a member of staff or volunteer, who will help you to find your feet and provide advice and support, should you need it. At your first session, you may be required to complete a brief medical form. Membership Membership of the Invigorate programme is annually reviewed 12 months after registration. Membership is free and through joining you will gain the following benefits: You will be added to our database and kept informed of any changes and developments to the programme You will receive an updated timetable, as it is published You will receive a membership card, which will allow you to gain access to Kelsey Kerridge Sports Centre as well as access to all Invigorate activities. You will be eligible for a Free GLL Better Card* Please complete the Membership Registration Form at the back of this booklet and return it to the specified address. *As an Invigorate member, you are also entitled to receive a free GLL Better Card. This will give you discounted access to the City swimming pools and other GLL facilities. Partners The Invigorate project is supported by various partners including: Cambridgehire FA page 2 page 3

What to bring and wear to your first session Please ensure that you wear loose, comfortable clothing. Jeans and skirts should be avoided where possible. Appropriate footwear such as clean trainers for indoor activities are ideal. It is not appropriate to participate in activ - ity with open toed or ill-fitting shoes, or in bare feet (except for t ai chi). Facilitators do have the right to refuse your participation in a session should you not be dressed appropriately. If you have difficulty in finding appropriate clothing to participate, please contact the Sports Development Service on: 01223 457532. To each session, please bring your activity fee (where applicable) as well as your Invigorate membership card or GLL Better card (as applicable). To keep well hydrated, we recommend that you bring a drink of water or a soft drink. Smoking is not permitted at any activity session, only in designated areas. The extinguishing of cigarettes inappropriately in public places, may result in a fine. Key workers are welcome to attend sessions, in a supporting role, free of charge. Booking and Cancellation policies None of the activities currently require advanced booking, with the exception of arranging an initial gym induction. On occasion, it may be necessary to cancel sessions at short notice. Where possible, if we have your contact details, we will try and contact you to notify you of this. If you are planning on attending an activity for the first time, please contact the Sports Development Service on 01223 457532 to confirm the details of the session. Volunteering to help The Sports Development Service would be grateful to hear from anybody who would be interested in volunteering for any of the City Councils activity projects. Roles include facilitating sessions. University of Cambridge Sports Centre Philippa Fawcett Drive, CB3 0AS 30 minute supervised gym sessions can also be accessed during the regular Saturday morning inclusive multi-sport sessions which take place week at the University Sports Centre. Multi-Sport sessions Led by fully qualified Kelsey Kerridge staff, multi-sport sessions are a great opportunity for anybody interested in trying out new leisure activities in a friendly environment. Activities may include: badminton, basketball, table tennis and cricket. No experience is necessary and all levels of ability are welcome. Cost: 1.30 with Better Card Tai Chi A qualified instructor will teach you simple exercises that will help you to understand the core principles of posture, breathing and co-ordination. Developing these exercises will help you move and balance more easily, relieve stress and improve your wellbeing. Available to all.
