Boarding students and faculty will be staying in Founders Hall. Concerts & meetings are held in the Berman Student Center or the Reid Castle. The cafeteria is located in Benziger Hall. REGISTRATION Please come to the Berman Student Center we will have a table set up on the ground level facing the parking lot. ALL STUDENTS ( DAY & BOARDING) must Register during on the dates and times below First Week Intensive Seminar: check in TUESDAY 7/21/15 12noon-5pm check out TUESDAY 7/28/15 8am - 12noon Two Week Programs (Individual, Aaron Rosand, Double Bass) check in TUESDAY 7/28/15 12noon-5pm check out TUESDAY 8/11/15 8am - 12noon Three Week Programs (First Week Intensive & 2 week Individual or Aaron Rosand program) check in TUESDAY 7/21/15 12noon-5pm check out TUESDAY 8/11/15 8am - 12noon PAPERWORK must be completed before or during registration. The following forms need to be turned in Medical Form (Adults & Minors), Liability Release, Performance Release, Guardian form (if under 18), Student Code of Conduct, and if applicable Work Study Agreement. PLEASE REMEMBER KEY DEPOSIT $300 see Boarding Students section. If you can not attend registration and orientation, you must notify us in advance. If you need to arrive or depart at different times than listed above, you must have permission from the office. We will need to provide you with alternate instructions for checking in and checking out. ID CARDS: Each Summit Music Festival participant will be issued a SMF ID card. We will also give you a Summit Music Festival lanyard and card case to hold your ID. You must wear this ID at all times while on the Manhattanville Campus. Please read the Rules and Policies of the Summit Music Festival / Manhattanville College for additional information and policies regarding the IDs. The ID s will be issued at registration for both Boarding Students and Day Students. ORIENTATION MEETING: The orientation meeting for all students and staff will be held on 7/21/15 and on 7/28/15 at 5:30 pm in the Berman Student Center theater. At the orientation meeting, you will get a chance to meet the Directors, Staff, and some of the faculty. You will learn how the Summit Music Festival operates and create your schedule for your individualized program.

2 PROGRAM SCHEDULE : The daily schedule, although individualized, will begin at 9:00am and end at 5:00pm Wednesday through Tuesday (regular class schedules will be held on Saturdays and Sundays). You will be required to attend some of the evening events as well as performing some of the evenings and weekends. You will get the details of your schedule at the orientation meeting and it is your responsibility to check all the announcements on the bulletin boards in the Student Center. Day students under 18 - You will need to sign in with the Junior Division Counselor located in the Student Center each day and you will need to sign out with the same counselor upon dismissal. For those students who are placed in the Junior Division, the Junior Division Counselor must have a copy of your schedule and know where you are at all times. ANNOUNCEMENTS & SCHEDULE UPDATES : Summit Music Festival will have several bulletin boards in the middle floor of the Berman Student Center. All announcements and sign-ups will be posted here. It is each student s responsibility to check these boards several times a day. STRING STUDENTS: All string students are expected to participate in orchestra. You must attend the first rehearsal. Mr. Krieger is the only one authorized to excuse a student from orchestra. CONCERTO COMPETITION: Eligible students are those who are enrolled in a full two week program (7/28-8/11) and are there for the entire duration and are full participants participate in orchestra, chamber music (if applicable), seminars, and master classes as wells as being conscientious regarding their individual program (on time, signs up for classes timely, etc.) If you have questions about your eligibility, please discuss with Mr. Briskin or Mr. Krieger. See the rest of the requirements on our website. PERFORMANCE ATTIRE: Please note that performance clothes are necessary for at least two (2) public performances. Black outfits and other appropriate clothing are required for performances. Please have some dressy outfits (women) and nice slacks, shirts, and ties (men) to wear for attending other concerts and special receptions. MUSIC: If you are in a chamber group, you are responsible for knowing what you will be working on. The Pianist for each group must get the entire score with all the parts to share with their group. Some chamber music is available from the Summit Music Festival Music Library, however you will need to sign it out and a $10 deposit is required for each piece of music borrowed. All students must bring the sheet music that is necessary for their private lessons. String Players must bring their own labeled stands, change of strings, rosin, etc. and other equipment needed for rehearsal and performance. These items will not be provided for you. CELL PHONES: Students may have cell phones on campus but must register their phone number with our office. We ask that participants use appropriate cell phone etiquette by turning them off during concerts, master classes, lesson, etc. PUBLIC CONCERTS & EVENTS: All students are encouraged to attend as many of the performances offered as possible. YOU MUST wear your SMF lanyard/id card in order to be admitted to the ticketed concerts. Without your SMF ID, you will have to purchase a ticket. We ask all students to wear appropriate concert attire when attending these events as we will have donors and board members there as well no gym shorts, cutoffs, muscle t s, crop tops, spaghetti straps, or t-shirts with inappropriate logos. Summit Music Festival will be running some special fundraising events throughout the 3 week festival please see the posters on campus and follow our website for more details. Some of the receptions following the concerts require an extra fee. If you wish to attend these, there will be opportunities to purchase tickets during the festival. Page 2

3 CAFETERIA: The Cafeteria is located on the 2 nd floor of Benziger Hall. Cafeteria hours are as follows: Mon-Fri: Breakfast 7:00am 9:30am, Lunch 12:00 2:00pm, Dinner 5:30pm 7:00pm Sat & Sun: Breakfast 8:00am 9:30am, Lunch 12:00noon-2:00pm, Dinner 5:30pm 7:00pm Boarding Students must present an ID swipe card for each meal (see details under DINING) Day Students may pay cash for meals Breakfast $6.72, Lunch $9.75, Dinner $12.90 (one price for all you can eat). There is a Pub located on the 1 st floor of Benziger Hall where you can purchase sandwiches, snacks, beverages, etc. It is open 8am-8pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, 8am-5pm on Wednesdays and Fridays, and 8am-5pm on Saturdays and Sundays. There are various vending machines throughout the campus. The Library Café is open from 9am-2pm. STUDENT PARKING: For those bringing a car to the campus, either as a boarding student or as a day student commuting, you may park in any available lot (please see Rules & Policies for restricted parking information). SWIMMING POOL & FIELD AVAILABILITY: We currently do not have any access to the pool or the athletic fields. It is prohibited for students to use the pool or fields/athletic spaces without permission. If the policies change during the festival, you will be informed. EMERGENCY NUMBERS: The Manhattanville Campus Safety and Security number may be reached at extension 888 (or for emergencies from outside lines) and can be dialed from all locations on campus and you will be connected to the Department of Safety and Security in the main lobby of Spellman Hall near the main entrance to the campus. Someone is there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Campus Safety and Security Non-Emergency Number is The Security Director can be reached at x5406 (or from outside lines). You can also dial 911 from any phone in case of a medical emergency. INTERNET ACCESS: There is free WiFi on the Manhattanville Campus called Mville Wireless. Also, most rooms have a computer jack if you would like to also bring an ethernet cord. You are allowed to use the Manhattanville Library and Computers Labs to access the computers. The Library hours are 9am-9pm Monday through Thursdays, 9am-5pm on Fridays, and 10am-6pm on Saturdays and Sundays. US MONEY: There is NO EXCHANGE facility to exchange foreign money to US money. Please bring extra US money with you to the campus. You will be required to pay for any other incidental expenses (laundry, etc.) in US dollars. There are ATM machines on campus located in Benziger Hall. MANHATTANVILLE BOOKSTORE: The summer hours for the Manhattanville Bookstore are 9am-7pm Mondays and Tuesdays, 9am-5pm Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9am-4pm on Fridays, 10am-2pm on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays. PRACTICE ROOMS: Practice rooms are shared with 4-5 other students, depending on enrollment and space available. These practice rooms will be assigned and the students need to work out a schedule for using the space. Please do not use other practice rooms without the permission of the Practice Room Coordinator. All students using those rooms must clean up and leave no personal belongings behind. Please note that all pianos are rented and must be returned in pristine condition DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ON THE PIANOS this includes drinks, food, instrument cases, cell phones, notebooks, jackets, you name it don t put it on the piano. 4 Additional information for BOARDING STUDENTS ROOM KEY & SWIPE CARD DEPOSITS: All boarding students & guests are required to pay a deposit of $300 upon arrival. This deposit covers the key to your room, the lock system to your room, the ID swipe card to the building and the cafeteria, and room damage. Please bring a check or money order made out to Summit Music Festival or USD cash. This deposit will be returned to you upon check out AFTER we have inspected your room and all keys and ID swipe cards have been properly returned to us. KEYS & ID SWIPE CARDS: Upon check in, you will receive a key to your room and a swipe card which will open your dormitory building. There is a $100 charge for a lost or stolen key as well as a $100 charge to replace the lock system. There is a $20 charge for a lost or stolen ID swipe card. You will need to carry your ID swipe card and key with you at all times you can attach them to the lanyards we will give you. You must hand deliver all keys and ID swipe cards to the Summit Music Festival office upon departure from the festival (do not leave them in your room!). ACCOMMODATIONS: Dormitory rooms for all students and guests are primarily located in Founders Hall. This is a college dormitory with rooms ranging in capacity from singles to four-person quads. Founders bathrooms are shared between two adjoining rooms. Room assignments are made at the discretion of the Summit Music Festival based on capacity and supervisory requirements. Each person will have a bed, mattress, desk, chair and either a dresser or a closet. The dormitory is not air conditioned and you are not allowed to install air conditioners (see the Rules & Policies). There are some air conditioners located in dormitory rooms. These are not for the use of Summit students. Any student who moves one of these air conditioners or has one of these air conditioners in their room will be immediately sent home from the festival with no refund of tuition or room & board fees forthcoming. You may bring a small fan or rent a fan from the SMF office. There is no cooking allowed in the rooms there is a communal kitchen in each residence hall which is available but it must be used under supervision of a Resident Assistant. DINING: Each student boarding on the campus will receive an ID swipe card and will need to present this to the Cafeteria s cashier for each meal. If this card is lost or stolen, you must report it to the office immediately. The cost for a replacement card is $20. Your first meal will be dinner on the day of your arrival and your last meal will be breakfast the day of your departure. RESIDENT ASSISTANTS: Your room will be assigned to a specific Summit Music Festival Resident Assistant. The Resident Assistant is there to help answer your questions and to solve any issues you have with the dormitory facilities. The Resident Assistant is also responsible for maintaining the order in the dorms and for enforcing all the Rules and Policies of Summit Music Festival and Manhattanville College. If the Resident Assistants, along with the Dormitory supervisor, are unable to resolve an issue with you directly, then the Executive Director will need to get involved. The Resident Assistants must report all incidents to the Dormitory Supervisors. CURFEW POLICY: The Summit Music Festival has a curfew of 11pm for all boarding students. All students under the age of 18 must be in their own rooms at this time. We also restrict practicing hours to 9am-10pm. Resident Assistants are required to enforce these rules. Page 4

5 LAUNDRY: There is a laundry room in each residence hall available for your use. You may use change or purchase a vending card in the cafeteria building to pay for laundry. LINENS: You will be provided with a set of sheets, a pillow, pillow case, blanket, towel and washcloth. You are welcome to bring additional linens for your personal use. The mattresses are plastic covered and we recommend you bring a mattress cover or large towel to make you more comfortable on hot nights. You will be able to exchange your set of linens for a clean set each week. Details provided at check in. GARBAGE CANS: In the dormitory buildings there are two trash rooms located on each end of each floor. The ground floor has a one outdoor trash area. Students are responsible for bringing their own trash to the trash rooms. Students may not leave trash outside their doors; it must be brought to the trash rooms. MAIL & PACKAGES: There is a full service post office available located on the ground floor of Benziger Hall. If someone wants to send you mail or care package, the mail must be addressed as follows: Student name, Summit Music Festival, Manhattanville College, 2900 Purchase St., Purchase, NY Please contact our office regarding any deliveries.
