The University has an enrollment of over 9,500 students and offers more than 90 bachelor s, master s, and doctoral degree programs. Associate Vice Provost for Student Affairs/Dean of Students January 2015 August 2015 Reporting to the Associate Provost for Student Affairs, responsibilities included supervision, hiring, leadership, and evaluation of six units: Counseling, Disability Services, Health Center, Judicial Services, Intramural Sports, and Campus Sexual Advocate totaling 50+ professional and paraprofessional staff. Additional responsibilities included enforcing the University s Code of Conduct, chairing Division wide committees, and managing day-to-day operations for the Associate Provost for Student Affairs. Managed and oversaw budgets totaling over $1,000,000.00. Successfully negotiated a hotel contract totaling over $600,000 to provide lodging for residential students. Initiated the development of the University s first six weeks programming model to increase retention efforts and promote student success. Co-chaired the assessment team to review the University s Orientation and First Year Experience programs. Interim Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students May 2014 December 2014 As the chief student affairs officer under the supervision of the Provost/ Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (promoted to this role May 2014), was responsible for managing a Division of 150+ professional and paraprofessional staff members. Units within the Division included Campus Ministries, Career Services, Community Service and Service Learning, Counseling, Disability Services, Health Center, Housing and Residence Life, Intramural Sports and Special Programs, Judicial Services, Student Engagement and Inclusion, Student Life Operations, Student Publications, Upward Bound, and Veteran Affairs. Oversaw and managed budgets totaling over $13,500,000.00. Chaired and executed the University s Title IX and S.M.A.R.T. (Sexual Misconduct/Assault Response Team) initiatives. Obtained Title IX Investigator Certification Association of Title IX Administrators (November 2014). Successfully opened a 250-bed residential facility. Chaired the largest Homecoming Week activities and programs in the history of the University. Implemented the University s Zero Tolerance on Campus Violence policy. Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students August 2012 May 2014 Under the supervision of the Vice President for Student Affairs, responsible for providing vision, leadership, and evaluation, enforcing the University s Code of Conduct, and fostering an environment conducive to the pursuit of knowledge by providing educational programs and services to enhance student learning and success. Units under my guidance included Counseling, Disability Services, Health Center, Housing and Residence Life, Intramural Sports and Special Programs, Judicial Services, Student Life Operations, and Veteran Affairs totaling over 100+ professional and paraprofessional staff. Developed, oversaw, and managed budgets totaling over $10,000,000.00. Implemented an accountability model for students responsible for violating the Student Code of Conduct. Effectively executed the University s first electronic judicial management (Symplicity Advocate) system. Provided supervision to 3 professional and 5 paraprofessional staff members who oversaw Career Services, Diversity Education and Programs, Greek Life, Social Club and Inter-fraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Student Government Association, Orientation, Student Programming Board, Increasing Minority Access to Graduate Education, Testing, and the operation of the Student Life website. Advised over 70 student organizations and clubs, and coordinated special initiatives including cultural awareness months, Greek Leadership Awards, Minority Achievement Gala, and Unity Fest. Director of Orientation August 2007 April 2009 Reporting to the Vice President for Student Services (promoted to this role August 2007), oversight included assessing, coordinating, and implementing all aspects of orientation that aided in acclimating freshmen and transfer students, parents and family members to the University. Developed publications and executed Spring Scholars Registration Day and trainings for orientation. Supervised 2 graduate practicum students and 10 paraprofessionals. Oversaw and managed a budget of $27,000. Implemented an evaluation system to assess the quality of services provided by the orientation program.
