DUTIES : The successful candidates will be responsible for amongst others, the following specific tasks: Giving management, guidance and advice to immigration component of the office in particular with regard to Inspectorate functions. Conducting compliance investigations in terms of the legislation administered in immigration component. Responsible for the effective detection, detention and deportation of illegal foreign nationals. Monitoring and controlling immigration and refugee affairs functions in relation to the validity of applications submitted and documents presented. Oversee all investigations relating to immigration services and the acquisition of documentation. Ensure all inspectorate investigations are investigated fairly and with the highest applicable human rights standards. Ensure that cases referred to the office for investigation are correctly allocated, prioritised, tracked and completed with a final report for management approval. Present and assist inspectorate staff within the office to present evidence in court cases on Immigration matters or the illegal facilitation of Immigration status by South African and other nationals. Ensure the office is able to effectively trace illegal foreign nationals within the jurisdiction of the office area. Supervising, exercising and regulating control over activities of subordinate and ensure that all inspectorate staff in the office are able to carry out their mandate effectively by identifying training needs and relevant support. Conduct and lead law enforcement operations. Support security cluster departments in law enforcement investigations and operations. Addressing and finding solutions to problems pertaining to service delivery as far as Immigration Services is concerned. Cooperate and assist the Counter Corruption Unit in matters relating to corrupt acquisition of immigration services and South African documentation by foreign nationals participate in the effective management of the local home affairs office with managers from other departmental branches in the office. Ensuring implementation and monitoring of progress of all immigration matters reflected on the business and operational plans. Ensuring the adherence to policy and legislation regarding immigration matters. Compiling memoranda and submissions. Monitoring and coordinating training of immigration personnel. Must accept scheduled after hours stand by duty every week. Whilst on standby, must be readily available at all times at any hour of the day or night to attend to requests for services on call. POST 15/06 : ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: ANALYSIS, REF NO: HRMC 28/15/2 SALARY : A basic salary of R337 998 to R398 139 per annum (Level 10). In addition, a CENTRE : Head Office, Pretoria, Branch: Immigration Services, Directorate: Central Law Enforcement and Monitoring, Sub-Directorate: Analysis to apply A 3 year Diploma / Degree or a relevant NQF Level 6 qualification in Law, Social Science, Public Management and Administration or Policy studies plus 3 years experience within an Immigration/Law Enforcement environment of which 1 year should be at supervisory level and/or a Grade 12 qualification plus 5 years experience within an Immigration/Law Enforcement of which 2 years 8

Monitor arrests and cases of inspectorate units and advise on methods to strengthen inspectorate functions. Develop policies and SOPS for effective combatting of illegal migration, human trafficking and smuggling. Responsible for conducting human trafficking and smuggling surveys and awareness campaigns. Contribute to the development of IT system integration for the inspectorate and deportation Units. Ensuring implementation and monitoring of progress of all Immigration matters reflected on the business and operational plans. Movement of persons who apply for relevant Visas and permits at foreign missions to ensure compliance with issued visas and prevent potential over stayers. Monitor addresses and databases of various institutions to assist in identifying illegal foreigners and fraudulent documentation used to acquire services. Sharing of information with appropriate departments and foreign governments to ensure potential illegal foreigners are detected. Monitoring departmental systems to ensure files and records are clean and if not to locate the persons or refer the case to the appropriate unit to investigate. Ensuring implementation and monitoring of progress of all immigration matters reflected on the business and operational plans. Ensuring the adherence to policy and legislation regarding Immigration matters. Ensure that all illegal foreign nationals released from detention are effectively monitored and traceable. Ensure persons issued with orders to leave are compliant with such instructions and not able to abscond from enforcement and monitoring. Compiling memoranda and submissions. Monitoring and coordinating activities of Immigration personnel. POST 15/08 : ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: VISA AND ENTRY STOP LIST SECTION, REF NO: HRMC 28/15/4 SALARY : A basic salary of R337 998 to R398 139 per annum (Level 10). Ensure that persons who pose a threat to South Africa or are fugitives from justice are placed on departmental systems to prevent their entrance into South Africa. Ensure persons that have successful appealed their removal from prohibition and undesirable status are removed from departmental lists that prevent their entry or exit to South Africa. Sharing of information with appropriate departments and foreign governments to ensure potential illegal foreigners are properly declared. Ensuring implementation and monitoring of progress of all immigration matters reflected on the business and operational plans. DUTIES : The successful candidate will be responsible for amongst others, the following tasks: Trace, arrest and detain illegal foreigners within the Republic. Process the deportation of illegal foreigners. Execute inspections in loco without a warrant if allowed by law. Execute investigations in loco search warrants. Enable 16

prosecution of transgressors of the legislation. Issue notices to appear in front of Director General to transgressors. Process and present evidence in court -Issue the admission of guilt fines to transgressors Conduct interviews and investigation of foreigners who are suspected to be illegal in the country. Issue orders to illegal foreigners to depart from the country. Process application for the extension of detention warrants. Monitor the records of all cases. Execute operations with internal and external stakeholders. Retrieve expenses incurred from illegal foreigners in relation to their deportation, detention, maintenance and custody. expected to work irregular hours and under pressure. Must accept scheduled after hours stand by duty every week. Whilst on standby, must be readily available at all times at any hour of the day or night to attend to requests for services on call.
