Use these steps to see how much icloud storage is available in your account: On your iphone, ipad, or ipod touch: If you're using ios 8 or later, tap Settings > icloud > Storage > Manage Storage. If you're using an earlier version of ios, tap Settings > icloud > Storage & Backup.

You can change which apps back up to icloud and remove existing backups of that app's data from your storage. Use these steps on your iphone, ipad, or ipod touch: Tap Settings > icloud. If you're using ios 8 or later, tap Storage > Manage Storage. If you're using an earlier version of ios, tap Storage & Backup > Manage Storage. Tap the name of your ios device. Under Backup Options, turn off any apps that you don't want to back up. When you're asked to confirm, choose Turn Off & Delete to turn off Backup for that app and remove all of its data from icloud.

To check the size of the backup on your device in ios 8 or later, tap Settings > icloud > Storage > Manage Storage.

Google Drive Your storage works with Drive, Gmail and Google Photos, so you can store files, save email attachments and back-up photos directly to Drive. We now each have unlimited storage. This is great for large files such as videos. Photos, videos, presentations, PDFs even Microsoft Office files. No matter what type of file it is, everything can be stored safely in Drive.
Google Drive with ipads Photos & Video Storage Choose the Google Drive app on the ipad You can choose to create a new folder in Google Drive to back up and store files to, if your like. Choose + icon on the upper right hand corner. Choose New Folder and name it. Tap Create. Click and open the new folder you created. Choose + icon on the upper right hand corner. Choose Upload Photos or Videos Choose the album Click on each photo/video to choose it. Once you have chosen all of the files, tap the upper right checkbox to begin uploading your files to your new folder.
Google Drive with ipads Pages, Keynote & Numbers (and other apps) Within the app choose the share icon Choose: Open in Another App Depending on the app, you may be offered to choose a format. Choose whichever you prefer. You will be offered apps to open in. These will be apps that you have installed on your ipad. Choose Open in Drive You will be prompted to Upload Item into your Google Drive account. Note: If you have not already logged into your Google account, you will be prompted to do so.
Google Drive with Laptops You can save files from your laptop to your to Google Drive by going to the Google Drive link from your email. Click on the nine-square icon in the upper right and choose Google Drive. Once the Google Drive window opens, choose the New button in the upper left. Choose Upload File or you can choose Upload Folder to copy an entire folder at one time. You could backup your entire My Documents folder if you like. Be prepared for this to take some time. It would be best to do large folder uploading after school hours.
H: Drive & USB Drives
H: Drive & USB Drives If you have files that you want to keep safe and are not comfortable uploading to the cloud, you can save them to your H: Drive or store them onto a USB drive. USB drives come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Opt for 16 Gig and larger. The cost of these have dropped in the last few years. They are affordable, convenient and simple to use.
ipad to H:Drive To save files from your ipad to your H:Drive you will first need to save them to Google Drive. You could also email files from your ipad to yourself. This works best when you only have a few files to transfer. (Laptop: copy, move or save to H:drive)
USB Drives Plug the USB drive into the USB slot on the laptop. If this is the first time the USB drive has been connected, it will take about a minute for the driver to install. When it s ready you will get a message and a window will open asking you to open the drive folder. Files on your laptop can be copied or moved to the USB drive for safe-keeping. This can be done by copy and paste or dragging the files from one window to the next. To save files from your ipad to a USB drive you will first need to save them to Google Drive or email them to yourself. Then from a laptop/desktop, download the files from your Google Drive or save as from the email onto the USB drive.
