1 Collaboration Collaboration simply means to work together and that is exactly what Yosemite and ios 8 do for individuals and organisations. Quite often organisations face challenges around how to get technology, teams and individual, to work productively together. In this document, we are going to take a closer look at the specific features of Yosemite and ios 8 as well as the tools within the Apple Ecosystem that businesses can use to increase productivity and mobility. At the World Wide Developers Conference Apple, announced some new features of Yosemite and ios 8 that are going to have a very positive impact on how organisations and their employees collaborate to become more mobile. Some of these include Airdrop, Mail-drop, Markup, Handoff and some changes in icloud, icloud Drive and Apple Mail. So let s take a closer look at the specific functions of each of these and see how organisations are taking advantage of them to become ultra collaborative, productive and, above all, mobile. The world of mobility evolved with the launch of the iphone, the ipad and the integration with Exchange. Mobility is able to evolve further with the launch of the collaborative features that are laid out in this document. At the end of this document you will be able to do three things: 1. You will be able to position these features with your customers to enable them to make the right purchase decision.

2 Integrated Internet Accounts Organisations can use Internet Account preferences to set up their Internet accounts from Google, LinkedIn, Yahoo!, Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Notes, Reminders, and Messages. This means that messages and notifications on LinkedIn or Twitter can be efficiently responded to with at the click of the TrackPad. With no need to log in and out of each account this brings the every changing world of digital media at the fingertips of every Mac user. icloud Since its launch in 2011 icloud has evolved to become an essential tool for individuals to manage their setting and data across multiple devices. Sharing between a users devices Organisations may have deployed multiple devices to its employees so using icloud Drive could save a lot of time and effort. A presentation can be started at home or on the train on an ipad and then finished off in the office on a Mac. Any changes make in between will be automatically updated on all the devices that are signed in with the same Apple ID. Even apps can share files using icloud this means employees can access and work on the same files from multiple apps. For example, a mind-map drawing could be created on one app then that can be opened using another app and turned into a 3D diagram. This eliminates the need to import documents or make copies for other apps. No matter which device an employee has on them - they will always be carrying around their up-to-date inbox, calendar, contacts and other important information in their pocket and keeping it fresh on their desktop. When a user deletes an , adds a calendar event, updates a contact, edits a note or checks off a to-do item, icloud makes the on all the devices on the same icloud account. Sharing with colleagues icould allows employees to create a shared photo album or share documents with others for editing without having to send anything. 3 A better way to think of icloud for a Mac is that it synchronises settings such as bookmarks, passwords, contacts and calendars. It is true that icloud now offers the functionality to save Keynote, s, Numbers and Text Edit files through the applications to icloud and icloud drive is now available through the Finder, or desktop of the Mac, to save files. Also, Photo streams can sync a certain number of photographs to other devices and to icloud. Although these features assist collaboration on multiple devices, they are not a full backup. Finding a lost device Security is often a priority most organisations. If an employee losses their Apple device or has it stolen then they just simply need to log onto icloud.com online and activate Find my iphone or Find my Mac. icloud will then locate the device once its in a WiFi area or switched on. Access from a PC - anywhere So long as an employee has an Apple ID then they can log onto icloud.com from anywhere and access all the documents they have saved onto icloud Drive as well as access features like Photos, Find My iphone, Mail, Calendar, Contacts and iwork. icloud Drive icloud users have the choice to work on any document on any device. They can safely save all their spreadsheets, PDFs, images, presentations and any other kind of document on icloud Drive. They are then able to access them from iphone, ipad, ipod touch, Mac or PC. They will have 5GB free icloud storage with other storage plans available. All your customers need to use icloud Drive is ios 8, Mac OS X Yosemite, PC with Windows 7 or later, Safari 6 or later, Firefox 22 or later, or Google Chrome 28 or later. And of course an active Internet connection. Apple ID vs. icloud Accounts This first noteworthy point is about Apple IDs versus icloud accounts. Apple IDs are used to purchase software from the itunes or the Appstore. Individuals can use the Apple ID to generate an icloud account, but they are not always synonymous. 4 Mac OS X features AirDrop AirDrop addresses the age old problem of getting big files to someone quickly. A feature within Yosemite and ios 8 allows the user to send a file to someone else using either a Mac running Yosemite or an ios device running ios 7 or later. AirDrop will work on any of the following devices: an iphone 5 or newer, a fourthgeneration ipad or newer, an ipad mini, or a fifth-generation ipod touch. So long as the two devices are 10 metres or less apart from one another then there should be no real limit on how big the file can be. So, for example sending a KeyNote presentation containing lots of heavy media files wouldn't be a problem if it were being shared using AirDrop. Mail Drop In organisations, people often need to send large attachments in mail for quick feedback? With other mail applications or programmes,there is usually a restriction on how large that mail attachment can be, which presents a problem. This has sometimes been overcome with the use of FTTP or third party solutions like DropBox, although login details for these two solutions are often required. With Mail Drop there is no need for any login details or the need to worry about how large the file is so long as its 5GB or less. Just simply drag the file or folder of files directly into an and Mail Drop will take it from there. Businesses don t even need to worry about what their service providers mail limits are because Mail Drop will use the Cloud to deliver the attachment. If the recipient is using OS X Yosemite then they will receive the attachment as usual - if it is another mail programme then the recipient will receive a link to click and download. There isn't a cost for using Mail Drop and it works no matter which service is being used including Gmail, Yahoo and Microsoft Exchange. Markup The amount of paper that is being used in organisations is not only damaging on the environment but its also damages productivity. Waiting for authorisation because someone has to physically sign a form and send it back or filling out a PDF can sometimes take longer than needed. Markup takes away the need for paper in the office. PDFs and images can quickly be annotated without leaving Apple Mail. Employees can now add shapes, text and call-outs to images by drawing on the Multi-Touch trackpad. They can fill out forms and PDFs, and even add their signature by signing with their finger on the trackpad or capturing it with the camera on their Mac. 4 of 5

It means that as soon as a task has begun on one device such as an ipad or iphone then the Handoff icon will appear on the lefthand side of the dock on the Mac. Users just need to hit the Handoff icon and that task will appear on the Mac exactly at the point it was left, so no matter how busy, it gets employees can pick up exactly where they left off and that goes for apps like Mail, Safari, iwork, Maps, Messages, Reminders, Calendar and Contacts.
