1 ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 1 of! 20 Follow the step-by-step directions in this document to activate your ipad; set up Lotus Notes Traveler; install and configure Google Chrome and Google Drive; and set up icloud. Failure to follow these directions exactly can result in technical issues. If you encounter issues during set up, please contact the Service Desk. Part I: Activation 1. Turn your ipad ON by pressing the SLEEP / WAKE BUTTON on the top right corner. At the HELLO screen, SWIPE RIGHT to get started. 2. TAP ENGLISH 3. TAP UNITED STATES

2 4. TAP ISD625 ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 2 of! TAP ENABLE LOCATION SERVICES 6. WAITING TO ACTIVATE Do not touch the ipad while it activates. 7. TAP SET UP AS NEW ipad. Note: If you previously had a district-issued ipad, you may select Restore from icloud Backup. This will restore all previously installed apps and device settings. However, this option is only available if you backed up your old ipad to icloud.

3 8. TAP NEXT in the top right corner to start configuring your ipad. ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 3 of! LOG IN with your ACTIVE DIRECTORY (AD) USERNAME AND PASSWORD (e.g. e123456) and TAP NEXT 10. TAP USE SIRI

TAP GET STARTED ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 4 of! 20 NOTE: The next two steps App Installation and Passcode Requirement may occur in a different order based on how quickly your device pulls and installs the management profiles. Please review these steps so that you understand what you need to do. 12. APP INSTALLATION TAP SIGN IN By accepting this invitation, you are allowing the district to push apps to your device. It also allows you to use Self Service to download and install apps from a custom app store. Always accept this invitation. 13. TAP USE EXISTING APPLE ID

5 ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 5 of! TYPE your APPLE ID USERNAME and PASSWORD, and TAP OK 15. On the APPLE APPS pop up, TAP NOT NOW Note: You will be able to download and install these apps later. We have eliminated this step to save time, as these files are very large and time-consuming to download and install. 16. TAP CONTINUE

6 ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 6 of! TAP AGREE and TAP AGREE again to accept the Terms and Conditions 18. TAP OK 19. When prompted, TAP CONTINUE to set your PASSCODE. A passcode is a six-digit code used to unlock your ipad. If the PASSCODE pop-up does not appear, PRESS the SLEEP/WAKE button on the top right corner to turn it OFF, then turn it ON again. If the pop-up window still does not appear, please see a Field Technician.

7 ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 7 of! TYPE your 6 digit PASSCODE, and TAP CONTINUE. Then TYPE your 6 digit PASSCODE again, and TAP SAVE. ACTIVATION IS COMPLETE

8 PART II: SET UP LOTUS NOTES TRAVELER ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 8 of! From your HOME screen, swipe LEFT to access the second page of the Home screen. TAP on the SET UP TRAVELER ICON 2. TYPE your WEBMAIL USERNAME and PASSWORD, and TAP LOG IN. Your webmail username is your first name (space) last name, such as Jon Doe if your address is jon.doe@spps.org. NOTE: Your WEBMAIL password is the password that you use when accessing your SPPS through a web browser, like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. 3. VERIFY that it says Lotus Notes Traveler server is available on the 2nd line. If the text is not green, please see the Lotus Notes support team

9 ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 9 of! TAP CONFIGURE YOUR APPLE IPHONE / IPOD TOUCH / IPAD 5. VERIFY that your USERNAME and ADDRESS are correct, and TAP GENERATE 6. TAP INSTALL in the upper right corner of the pop-up window

10 ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 10 of! TYPE your PASSCODE that you created in Step 19 of Activation. Remember, your passcode is the 6 digit code for unlocking your ipad. 8. TAP INSTALL 9. TAP INSTALL

TYPE your WEBMAIL PASSWORD, and then TAP NEXT ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 11 of! 20 Your WEBMAIL PASSWORD is the password you use when accessing your SPPS through a web browser, such as Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. 11. TAP DONE in the upper right corner of the pop-up. 12. Lotus Notes Traveler installation is now complete, and you will return to the Generate an Apple Profile page. PRESS the HOME BUTTON to return to the Home Screen. You will now be able to use the Mail, Contacts, and Calendars apps installed on your ipad to access your Lotus Notes , calendar, and contacts. Common Settings: To change your signature, TAP the SETTINGS app, then TAP MAIL, CONTACTS, CALENDARS, and TAP SIGNATURE. Locate your IBM LOTUS NOTES TRAVELER signature field, tap to select the field, and TYPE your new signature. To increase the number of days of kept on your ipad, TAP the SETTINGS app, then TAP MAIL, CONTACTS, CALENDARS, and under ACCOUNTS, TAP (YOUR NAME) - IBM LOTUS NOTES, TAP, and select the number of days to sync.

12 Part III: Install Google Chrome using the App Store ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 12 of! 20 In this part of the set up process, you will be downloading and installing Google Chrome from the App Store. This ensures that your Apple ID is working properly before you attempt to download and install other apps from Self Service. 1. TAP on the APP STORE app on the HOME SCREEN. 2. In the SEARCH field in the upper right corner, TYPE CHROME, then TAP CHROME FOR IPAD. 3. Locate the CHROME - WEB BROWSER BY GOOGLE app, and TAP the GET button

13 4. TAP the INSTALL button ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 13 of! TAP USE EXISTING APPLE ID Note: If you did not create an Apple ID prior to device set up, you should select Create New Apple ID, and follow the onscreen prompts. If you follow the prompts exactly, you will not need to add a credit card or other payment type to the account. 6. TYPE your APPLE ID USERNAME and PASSWORD in the pop-up, and TAP OK Google Chrome Installation is Complete

14 Part IV: Download, Install, and Set Up Google Drive ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 14 of! 20 It is critical that you follow these next steps exactly or you will encounter a significant error. 1. TAP the SELF SERVICE app on the Home Screen 2. Locate the GOOGLE DRIVE app and TAP INSTALL 3. TAP the HOME BUTTON to return to the Home Screen DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LOG IN TO GOOGLE DRIVE OR YOU WILL ENCOUNTER A 401 ERROR 4. TAP the GOOGLE CHROME app

15 5. TAP ACCEPT & CONTINUE ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 15 of! SWIPE until you get to the orange screen and TAP SKIP in the upper right corner 7. TAP in the address bar, then TYPE START.STPAUL.K12.MN.US and TAP GO

16 8. TAP SIGN IN THROUGH ST. PAUL PUBLIC SCHOOLS ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 16 of! TYPE your ACTIVE DIRECTORY USERNAME and PASSWORD and TAP LOG IN 10. TAP the MENU icon of three dots in a vertical line in the upper right corner to open the menu

17 11. TAP SETTINGS ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 17 of! TAP SIGN IN TO CHROME 13. TYPE your FULL SPPS APPS ADDRESS then TAP SIGN IN If you receive a pop-up asking you to allow Chrome to access your location while using the app, select either Allow or Don t Allow.

18 14. TAP OK, GOT IT ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 18 of! When you see your address, TAP DONE in the right corner. Then, TAP the HOME BUTTON 16. TAP GOOGLE DRIVE

20 Part V: Set Up icloud and Find My ipad ipad Set Up Guide: Staff! 20 of! 20 icloud will allow you to back up your data and device settings, while enabling Find My ipad will allow you to locate a missing ipad or remotely wipe / erase the device. 1. TAP THE SETTINGS app 2. TAP icloud, then TYPE your APPLE ID USERNAME and PASSWORD, and TAP SIGN IN 3. TAP MERGE in the Merge with icloud pop-up, and TAP OK on the Allow icloud to use the Location of your ipad pop-up ipad set up is complete
