Nurse Practitioners: Promoting a Healthy Future Conference overview Minnesota Nurse Practitioners (MNNP) cordially invite you to attend our 3 rd Annual Conference. This conference kicks off National Nurse Practitioner week and is an opportunity for nurse practitioners, students and faculty to gather. There will be a pre- conference complementary dinner and CE program on Friday, November 11, and the 3 rd Annual Conference on Saturday, November 12 which includes a general session, poster session and an exhibit hall. Conference registration is available on our website with best rates through November 1. A block of rooms have been reserved for MNNP until October 21. The MNNP Members Annual Business Meeting follows the conference. We have an exciting program planned. Educational objectives Following the conference the participants should be able to: Apply strategies to evaluate, treat and monitor refractory hypertension. Outline factors affecting sleep, impact of sleep disorders and methods to achieve restorative sleep. Identify options for nurse practitioner owned/managed practice settings. Describe current barriers to APRN practice in Minnesota and be familiar with APRN Coalition initiatives. This program is pending CE approval with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, however, each participant must judge if appropriate for their regulatory body. PRE- CONFERENCE COMPLEMENTARY DINNER AND CE PROGRAM Friday, November 11, 2011 Registration and dinner 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. and Program 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. DoubleTree by Hilton Minneapolis South Hotel, Bloomington, MN Presentation: The Expanding Role of the Nurse Practitioner in Multiple Sclerosis Speaker: Gareth Parry, MD, Professor, Medical Director of the Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit, University of Minnesota Educational objectives Describe common symptoms that are associated with multiple sclerosis (MS) Identify strategies used in the differential diagnosis of MS, including magnetic resonance imaging and laboratory evaluations Discuss therapeutic options that are used to modify the disease course in relapsing forms of MS, as well as manage common symptoms Evaluate the key roles of nurse practitioners in the management of patients with MS as part of a multidisciplinary approach Program offered by PRIME Education, Inc. (PRIME ) is accredited by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as an approved provider of nurse practitioner continuing education. Letter must be postmarked no later than October 29, 2011 for refund to be issued. All refunds will be issued for paid registration minus a $25 administrative fee. Registrants are responsible for making their own hotel reservations if desired. When making your hotel reservations, you will need to identify you are attending the Minnesota Nurse Practitioners Annual Conference for the conference rate. Deadline for a hotel room at conference rates at the DoubleTree by Hilton Bloomington Minneapolis South Hotel is October 21, 2011. While a block of rooms have been set aside at the hotel for MNNP conference attendees, the block of rooms may sell out prior to October 21. Please make your hotel reservations as early as possible.
