Attend the 6th Annual Advanced Management Issues in HIV Medicine Focus on management of patients infected with the human immunodefi ciency virus (HIV) and Hepatitis C with this course. It is designed to heighten awareness of all health care professionals treating patients with HIV through a state-of-the-art review of current research results and new insights on HIV care. Target Audience Who Should Attend? The course is directed to infectious disease and internal medicine physicians, physician assistants, and other health care professionals who have an interest in HIV care. Objectives to keep you in the know Compare and contrast the clinical indications, effi cacy, and side effect profi les of antiretroviral agents in the management of HIV-infected patients. Review the status of research for a cure for HIV, including new therapeutic targets. List key issues in debate regarding the impact of low-level viremia on treatment strategies. Discuss the treatment and clinical implications of hepatitis-hiv coinfection, malignancies, and other end-organ diseases associated with HIV. Provide insights into immune mechanisms responsible for increased risk of malignancies and end-organ damage in patients with HIV. Summarize the epidemiology of HIV in different immigrant populations and describe the causes of the high rates. Describe recent research fi ndings on psychiatric issues and pathophysiology issues and discuss approaches to problem solving focusing on new insights.
