4 TECHNICAL HONORS = 47 TOTAL CREDITS All Core 40 requirements, plus 6 credits in the college and career preparation courses in a state-approved College & Career Pathway and one of the following: State approved, industry recognized certification or credential, or Pathway dual credits from the approved dual credit list resulting in 6 transcripted college credits No grade lower than a C- Cumulative GPA 7.0 or higher *Please see me if you are interested in earning this diploma

5 ADDITIONAL GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS Must pass Algebra I and English 10 ECAs Must participate in Biology I ECA Must pass Financial Literacy test or take Adult Roles or take Personal Financial Responsibility ALL GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET IN ORDER TO WALK AT COMMENCEMENT IN JUNE NO EXCEPTIONS.

6 EARLY GRADUATION If you wish to be a 7 semester grad, you need to meet with me to make sure you have the number of credits and classes required to do this. You will then select Mid -Year Grad on the top of your course selection sheet AND online 7 semester grads who plan on attending college during spring of the school year (so next January) need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) this year FAFSA deadline is March 10

7 COURSE SELECTION SHEET Fill out info at top of sheet IMPORTANT!: Intended diploma type, social security number and whether you will be a mid-year grad All classes with prerequisites are marked with an asterisk *. Make sure you meet ALL prerequisites! Rec. means you need a teacher signature to sign up for that class Classes ending in a 1 are 1 st semester classes Classes ending in a 2 are 2 nd semester classes Classes ending in a 6 are 1 semester classes that could be scheduled 1 st or 2 nd semester

8 REQUIRED CLASSES English 12 Must choose 1 Literature (English Literature or Advanced English/Language Arts/Honors) AND 1 Composition (Composition or Advanced Comp Honors) OR AP English Language & Composition The Honors classes can be dual credit (worth 3 college credits each) Mr. Slater and Mr. Stansifer will be coming to your English class to give you more information about the senior AP and Honors level classes that are available to you. Speech can count as one of the English 12 classes if you are General diploma ONLY Social Studies All students select Government or AP US Government Core 40 and Honors diplomas students must select Economics or AP Microeconomics (General diploma does not need Econ) AOF students only can take Global Economics in place of Economics

9 ELECTIVE CLASSES Math Review your diploma requirements Recommended for those who are college bound Know college requirements IU wants Precalc or Trig; Purdue wants 8 semesters of math Lab Classes: We offer lab classes for Geometry, Algebra II & Precalc/Trig Science You must have 6 science credits for Core 40 & Academic Honors Diploma. New classes Botany, Zoology, Microbiology & Genetics AP Biology you must also sign up for AP Biology Lab (0151/0152)

12 SENIOR YEAR SPECIAL PROGRAMS Work Based Learning/Senior Internship Application required/must be accepted course #s online carefully 1 period of internship a day 5491/5492 You could have Travel 6th (221/222) and Internship 7 th period 2 periods of internship a day 5481/5482 You could have Travel 5th (201/202) and Internship 6 th and 7 th periods If you were accepted into internship, then select Travel and Work Based Learning/Senior Internship on your course selection sheet & online If you are applying, but have not yet been accepted, do NOT select Travel and Work Based Learning/Senior Internship select electives and then circle the electives you would want to drop on your course selection sheet if you are accepted into the program If you have been accepted into the senior internship program, conflicts may arise in your schedule due to other electives you have chosen only being offered during periods 6 & 7. If this occurs, you will be contacted in May or June.

13 SENIOR YEAR SPECIAL PROGRAMS ICE Application required/must be accepted If accepted, select ICE Instruction (5421/5422) and ICE On-The-Job Training (5431/5432) ICE Instruction is a 1 period a day class ICE On-The-Job Training is 2 periods a day, 6 th & 7 th periods You can also select Travel 5 th (201/202) If you are applying, but have not yet been accepted, do NOT select Travel, ICE Instruction, and ICE On-The-Job Training select electives and then circle the electives you would want to drop on your course selection sheet if you are accepted into the program

14 SENIOR YEAR SPECIAL PROGRAMS Health Careers (Senior Health Internship) Application required/must be accepted If accepted, select Health Science Education I/II (9221/9222) and Health Career Practicum/Medical Terminology (9231/9232) Look for the course #s on the online selection they won t necessarily be next to each other Could also select Travel 5 th (201/202) If you are applying, but have not yet been accepted, do NOT select Health Science Education I/II, Health Career Practicum/Medical Terminology and Travel select electives and then circle the ones you would want to drop on your course selection sheet if you are accepted into the program

16 SENIOR YEAR SPECIAL PROGRAMS Anthis Career Center Application required/must be accepted There will be a meeting for those students interested in attending Anthis Career Center Senior year on Tuesday, February 1:30 pm in the small auditorium. You must sign up on the table outside of guidance in order to attend. Applications will be available at the meeting on February 3. If you are attending Anthis Career Center this year, you MUST apply for senior year. Anthis Career Center program offerings begin on page 100

17 SENIOR YEAR SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES Collegiate IPFW (on campus) If interested, you need to see me Select elective classes at Carroll then circle the ones on your course selection sheet you would want to drop if this ends up working out YOU, the student, are responsible for contacting Ann Brown to determine what class you would like to take and when it s offered One class at IPFW costs around $800 plus cost of college textbook (approximately $120)

18 ONLINE CLASSES Just like learning in a classroom, online courses may not be the best option for your learning style. Because courses require independent study, you must remain disciplined to succeed. Online learning is right for those that can say: I am self-directed, highly motivated & self-disciplined I am an independent learner I have good time management skills I always finish what I start I own or have regular access to a computer with Internet access and I am computer literate

19 ONLINE CLASSES Online Classes Online Class Permission Form must be signed by you AND parent and dated and turned back in to me in Guidance office Must attach a confirmation receipt to your permission form when you turn it in to prove you have actually registered for the course EVERYONE IS SELECTING GOVERNMENT AND ECON HERE AT CARROLL (ON YOUR COURSE SELECTION SHEET AND ONLINE). I WILL DROP THE COURSES FOR YOUR SCHEDULE ONCE I HAVE THE SIGNED/DATED PERMISSION FORM AND CONFIRMATION RECEIPT YOU HAVE UNTIL MARCH 24 TO REGISTER FOR ONLINE CLASSES After that date, you are taking the class(es) at Carroll All online final exams must be taken by November 20, 2015

20 SUMMER CHS Carroll High School is offering two sessions of Summer School Session 1: June 8 26, 8 am to 1 pm Session 2: July 6 24, 8 am to 1 pm Seniors can take any course for credit recovery AND Government and/or Economics Students that plan to be a mid year grad can take one or two semesters of English 12 If you plan to take these courses in summer school, do NOT include these in your senior course selections Registration forms are due by April 17

21 ALTERNATE COURSES Choose these on course selection sheet only, NOT online! If you leave these blank and there is a scheduling conflict, I will choose replacement classes for you

22 HOW TO REGISTER 1. Log on to PowerSchool and select Class Registration 2. In each section (Eng, Soc Stud, Math, etc.) click on the yellow pencil in the top right of the box courses for that section will appear 3. Select your classes, making sure that the #s on the screen align with the #s on your selection sheet 1. Pay attention to the bottom of the screen there may be more than 1 page of classes in that section to choose from 4. Select Okay when you are finished with that section 5. Repeat Step 3 until you have selected all of your courses 6. Select Submit. You must have the required number of CREDITS selected, or you won t be able to submit your choices

23 NOTES... Choose wisely and challenge yourself If you need to repeat classes because you failed them, select them online AND on your course selection sheet Summer school forms are available and due April 17. Alg I, Geometry, Alg II, Eng 9, Eng 10, Eng 11, Eng 12 (if you plan to be a 7 semester grad only), US History, Government, Economics, PE I, PE II, Health. APEX classes are also available an opportunity to take a class we don t offer during summer school, for example World History. You need to take the SAT and ACT at least once this school year if you re applying to a four year college Continue to make campus visits if you haven t done so already

24 DUE DATE = FEB. 12 Your online selections AND course selection sheet is due by 2:55 pm Thursday, Feb. 12 Online window will open January 28 at 2:55 Have scheduling questions?
