8 The State of Indiana has three diploma types The CORE 40 diploma is the default diploma for Pike Central High School Students A Core 40 with Academic Honors diploma A Core 40 with Technical Honors diploma

9 42 credits are required for graduation from PCHS and must come from the following areas: Language Arts 8 credits Social Studies 6 credits Mathematics 6 credits Science 6 credits Digital Citizenship (Computer) 1 credit Personal Finance 1 credit Physical Education and Health 3 credits General Electives 11 credits NCAA page 4 Pathways

10 Credits are awarded upon the successful completion of a semester class. A student can earn 7 credits per semester which equals 56 credits upon completion of high school. 42 Credits---Core 40 Diploma 47 Credits---Academic Honors Diploma and Technical Honors Diploma

12 2 credits from World History 2 credits in United States History 1 credit in Economics 1 credit in United States Government

13 Algebra I, Geometry, & Algebra II Students are required to earn six (6) credits in Math in Grades 9-12 Students will be required to be enrolled in a Math or Quantitative Reasoning course each year they are in High School

14 2 credits in Biology 2 credits in Chemistry, Physics, or Integrated Chemistry-Physics 2 additional credits in Core 40 science courses such as: Biology II, Principles of Biomed, A& P, Chemistry II and Physics

15 The 11 credits must come from: World Languages Fine Arts Career-technical

16 Beginning with the graduation class of 2019 students will be required to take a Grade 10 ISTEP+ Test instead of the current Algebra ECA and English 10 ECA for Graduation Qualification. Additional information will be shared as soon as we receive it from the state.

17 Earn 2 additional Core 40 math credits Earn 6-8 Core 40 world language credits, and Earn 2 Core 40 fine arts credits, and Earn a grade of C- or above in courses that will count toward the diploma, and Have a grade point average of 3.0 or above, and Complete one of the following: Two Advanced Placement courses and corresponding AP exams Academic, transferable dual high school/college courses resulting in 6 college credits One Advanced Placement course and corresponding AP exam and academic transferable dual high school/college course(s) resulting in 3 college credits Score 1750 or higher SAT. (Minimum of 530 on each section) Score a 26 composite ACT score (Must complete the written portion)

18 Earn a grade of C- or above in courses that will count toward the diploma, and Have a grade point average of 3.0 or above, and Complete six (6) credits in a college and career pathway, and one of the following: 1. State approved, industry recognized certification 2. Pathway dual credits resulting in 6 college credits Must meet requirements in 1 of the following: Any one of the A-F options on AHD WorkKeys Test Professional Career Internship course Industry-based work experience in 2-year Tech Ed Prog Earn a state-approved, industry-recognized certification

19 Students who opt to graduate after 3 years, may be eligible for the Mitch Daniels Early Graduation Scholarship Students must meet criteria, including legal residency in Indiana and become a student in good standing at an approved postsecondary institution within 5 months of graduating high school. Students must earn at least the Core 40 diploma and pass the Indiana Graduation Qualifying Exam (ISTEP 10) $4,000 (one time) scholarship If interested, talk to your counselor about this 3 year path

Consider tutors some students may need extra help with more rigorous classes 5. Review and help your child select classes 6. Get involved with their postsecondary preparation
