7 How to Figure Class Percentile Look at bottom of transcript. Find where it says your rank (i.e. 17 out of 105) Using your calculator take your rank (the 1 st number) divided by the total number of students in your class (the 2 nd number) Example: 17/105=.1619 When you ve gotten your answer, move the decimal 2 spots to the right for your percentile. Example:.1619= Top 16.19% or Top 16% Closer you are to Top 1%, the better your percent Look at the College Admission Handout.what schools can you get into with your rank alone? Are you close to some? Ways to improve your rank: Start TODAY!!! Study, do your homework, get help from teachers
8 Reminder: Weighted Grading Scale High school courses are leveled as to their demands on students' time, skills and abilities. The grade point values to be given for each letter grade shall be weighted according to the performance level of the course for which the grade is issued. The purposes for weighted grading are as follows: 1. To provide an incentive to capable students to take advanced and challenging courses. 2. To give recognition to the importance of scholastic excellence. 3. To provide teachers of advanced courses a grading scale that more accurately reflects the achievement of students. 4. To encourage students who elect more courses than required to graduate.
9 Levels for Weighted GPA Level 1 will include core courses that have been designated as honors or advanced placement courses. Level 2 includes all other courses offered. The grade point values assigned to each of these levels shall be as follows: Level 1 Level 2 A 5 A 4 B 4 B 3 C 3 C 2 D 2 D 1 F 0 F 0
