9 UI100 First Year Seminar High School students that plan on attending Southeast can take UI100 as an online class. Same tuition rate ($85.00 per credit hour) as other dual credit courses. This is a mandatory course for all incoming freshman. For Class content: 9

15 Who is Eligible to Enroll in Dual Credit Courses and Early College Credit Courses? 15
16 Student Eligibility Junior and Senior Open to Juniors and Seniors who have a grade average of B on high school coursework - must have 3.0 on 4.0 scale. Recommended by signature of high school principal or his/her official designee. Specific placement testing is required for participation in EN100 and all mathematics courses. 16
17 Student Eligibility Junior and Senior Exception Policy for Juniors and Seniors only Students with less than a B average, but at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale are eligible with a letter of recommendation from the principal. Letter must state the student is of exceptional academic ability and is capable of successful performance in the recommended dual credit class(s). Copy of the student s High School transcript must accompany letter. Student must attain a grade of B or better on University coursework in order to continue in the dual credit program for a second and subsequent terms 17
18 Student Eligibility (10 th grade) Students in the 10 th grade must have an overall GPA average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Must have a signed letter from parent affirming their son or daughter has permission to take a dual credit course. Specific placement testing is required for participation in EN100 and all mathematics courses. 18
19 Student Eligibility (9 th grade) Students in the 9 th grade must have an overall minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Score at the 90 th percentile or above on the ACT or SAT. Must have a signed letter from parent affirming their son or daughter has permission to take a dual credit course. Specific placement testing is required for participation in EN100 and all mathematics courses. 19
20 Student Eligibility English/Mathematics Placement Exams Placement exam given by Testing Services Students only qualify after passing exam Math: Math Compass Test (only for Spring of 2016) Algebra Test 0-50 College Algebra Or 22 or higher on ACT for Logical Systems EN100: A minimum of 3.5 is needed on the English placement exam to qualify for EN100» Entrance Tests may only be taken once. 20
21 Student Eligibility Testing Services schedules exams Schools have option to seek out any approved testing sites for Compass testing Call early to be placed on Testing Service s Schedule. Testing scores need to be in before students are enrolled. 21

23 Tuition/Charges Spring of 2016 Processing Fee: First time students must pay $30 admission processing fee. Students who have previously enrolled do not pay this fee. Fee can be waived if student is on Free and Reduced Lunch program. Send an official letter (school letterhead) listing legal name of all qualifying students. Fee Rates: Rate is $85.00 per credit hour for face to face and online courses. 23
24 Tuition/Charges Textbook rental maybe required $25.94 Textbook Rental Service (573) Purchase of additional resources and materials. Bookstore (573) Lab fees for online courses may apply. 24
25 Student Tuition Payment Plan Example Student enrolls in two 3-hour courses: Under 4 payment plan option Calculating payments: $ ($85.00 x 6 hours) tuition $ divided by 4 (payments)=$ $25 installment plan fee (with first payment) $30 One time registration fee (with first payment) First payment would be $ $25.00 Installment fee = $ (with one time application fee = $182.50) Three remaining payments $
26 Student Tuition Installment Payment Plan The Installment Payment Plan portion of the registration form needs to be completed if the student wishes to participate in the Installment Plan. 26

30 Completing the Enrollment Form Principal or Designee The Principal or the principal s designee is responsible for the completion of the High School Section of the enrollment form. The following information is needed: -GPA and scale (example 3.5 out of a 4 point scale) -Class rank -ACT score (best scores): math, English and composite (copy of ACT results) -If needed English and Math placement scores (from testing services). -Principal or principal designee s signature and date 30

41 What do all Students Need to do Before Starting Class? 41
42 Student Identification Number Each dual credit student will receive a student identification number (S Zero) that is used to track all student records. The student needs to keep this number to access his or her accounts, grades, transcripts and billing. The S Zero number will be used for the student throughout their student career at Southeast Missouri State University.» S The student s S Zero number is confidential, please secure any roster or document that lists student identification numbers 42
43 Student s Account Each student will also have an account once they have received their student identification number. The account is very important for communication with the university. If a student is using the installment plan, billing is only through this account. All communication between the student/student s parents will be through this account. 43
44 Creating Student Account Either the dual credit teacher or the principal/principal s designee will need to give each dual credit student their student identification number and help create their student account. The instruction sheet to set up your account is provided in your packet or go online for informational videos (see next page). 44

46 What does the High School Facilitator Need to do Before Starting a Cooperative Online Class? 46
47 Cooperative Online Courses The high school teacher needs to activate their SE Key as soon as they receive the information They need to try and log into Moodle. They may not have a class assigned to them but we need to make sure they can at least get logged in. The first day of class (high school), students need to make sure SE Keys are activated and they can log into Moodle. If there are any log in issues, please contact our office ASAP or visit the informational video sites for help (next page). 47

49 What are the Responsibilities of the Face to Face Instructors? 49
50 Teachers Check Rosters/Entering Grades Spring Semester Between Jan. 15 th and Jan. 19 th please check your rosters online to validate the correct enrollment. By April 15 th please check your rosters before grade reporting. We will not be able to change rosters after this time (for spring semester). Grade entry in the Portal will be opened May 9 th. Teachers must have grades submitted before leaving for summer break.* *Science lab classes must have a completed grade entered. 50

56 Student Withdrawal Drop Form Southeast Missouri State Office of Dual Credit Request to Drop Dual Credit Course (s) Students wishing to drop a Dual Credit course must have this form completed by their principal or designee. Course(s) will not be dropped until this form is be completed in full and received by the Dual Credit Office. The official drop date will be the date the form is received by the Dual Credit Office. 57 Student Withdrawal Semester Classes (Spring Semester) To initiate the drop procedure, the student/parent or instructor needs to contact the counselor. The counselor needs to provide a drop form to the student. The parent, student and the counselor or principal need to sign the form. 57
58 Student Withdrawal Semester Classes (Spring Semester) Drop form needs to be sent to the Dual Credit office (as attachment, FAX). to Fax to The date our office receives the drop form is the date used for the dropped class. Be sure to allow time for our office to process forms for correct refund. 58

63 Contracts and Payment Stipends Contracts will be sent via late March for spring. Make sure to verify address and enter your SS#. Teacher Stipends will be processed only after receiving roster verification. Stipend payments will not be processed until the end of the semester. 63
