3 Important inormation 3 Important inormation For saety reasons, the teephone shoud ony be suppied with power: using the origina power suppy unit. Part number: L30250-F600-C14x (x: 1=EU, 2=UK, 3=US) or in a LAN with PoE (Power over Ethernet) which compies with the IEEE 802.3a standard. Never open the teephone or a key modue. Shoud you encounter any probems, contact the administrator. Use ony origina accessories. The use o other accessories may be hazardous and wi render the warranty, extended manuacturer s iabiity and the CE marking invaid. Trademarks The device conorms to the EU directive 1999/5/EC as attested by the CE marking. 4 4 Important inormation Location o the teephone The teephone shoud be operated in a controed environment with an ambient temperature between 5 C and 40 C. To ensure good speakerphone quaity, the area in ront o the microphone (ront right) shoud be kept cear. The optimum speakerphone distance is 50 cm Do not insta the teephone in a room where arge quantities o dust accumuate; this can consideraby reduce the service ie o the teephone. Do not expose the teephone to direct sunight or any other source o heat, as this is iabe to damage the eectronic components and the pastic casing. Do not operate the teephone in damp environments, such as bathrooms. Sotware update During a sotware update, the phone must not be disconnected rom the power suppy unit, the LAN ine or the phone ine. An update action is indicated by messages on the dispay and/or by ashing LEDs. It contains important inormation on the sae and proper operation o your OpenScape Desk Phone IP 35G phone. These instructions shoud be stricty compied with to avoid operating errors and ensure optimum use o your mutiunctiona teephone in the network. These instructions shoud be read and oowed by every person instaing, operating or programming an OpenScape Desk Phone IP 35G phone. Intended use The OpenScape Desk Phone IP 35G is a desktop unit designed or voice transmission and or connection to the LAN. It can aso be used as a workstation device. Any other use is regarded as unauthorised. Teephone type The phone name data can be ound on the name pate on the base o the device; The exact product name and seria number are speciied here. Speciic detais concerning your communications patorm can be obtained rom your service technician. Pease have this inormation ready when you contact our service department regarding auts or probems with the product. Speakerphone quaity and dispay egibiity To ensure good speakerphone quaity, the area in ront o the teephone (ront right) shoud be kept cear. The optimum distance is approx. 50 cm. Proceed as oows to optimise dispay egibiity: Turn the phone to tit the dispay to ensure you have a ronta view o the dispay whie eiminating ight reexes. Adjust the contrast as required Page 181. Singe-ine teephone/muti-ine teephone Your OpenScape Desk Phone 35G is a "muti-ine teephone". This means that mutipe ines can be conigured, which is not the case with singe-ine phones. Each ine is assigned an individua phone number which you can use to make and receive cas. The programmabe keys unction as ine keys on muti-ine phones Page 18. 14 14 Getting to know your OpenScape Desk Phone IP 35G 1 With the Handset, the user can pick up and conduct cas in the usua manner The Dispay provides intuitive support or teephone operation and aows the user to contro the phone settings via the oca User menu (the dispay oers two ines with up to 33 characters each). The Fixed Function Keys (not re-programmabe) provide access to requenty used teephony unctions, as oows: Messages: Provides access to the Ca Log, aowing the user to view and manage the ists o Missed Cas, Diaed Cas, Received Cas, Forwarded Cas and to access and manage the Voice Mai. : Provides access to the User menus or ocay controing the phone settings. Speaker: Turns on/o the hands-ree mode (speakerphone). Headset: Switches the audio sound to the headset or back rom the headset to the handset speaker/speaker phone. Vo.+ and Vo.-: increases/decreases the speaker/headset voume. Mute: Turns on/o the microphone during conversations. This eature is used to prevent the istening party rom hearing what is being said at the caing party s ocation or to prevent noise rom being transmitted to a participants in conerence cas. With the Navigation Keys, the user can navigate through the various phone unctions, appications and coniguration menus. The Fixed Function Keys (re-programmabe via WBM) provide access to requenty used teephony unctions, as oows: Transer: Transers cas to other destinations. Conerence: Provides access to the conerencing eatures. By deaut, pressing this key automaticay seizes an outgoing ine and turns on the hands-ree mode. Hod: Paces an ongoing ca on hod or reconnects a hed ca. 6 The Keypad is provided or input o phone numbers, codes and text. 7 The Free Programmabe Keys enabe the user to customise the teephone in ine with his/ her persona needs by assigning individua phone numbers and unctions. Preset deaut vaues: Forward Pick up Do Not Disturb (DND). 8 Inbound cas are visuay signaed via the Aert Bar.

Deaut settings o the programmabe keys: Forward Pick up DND (Do Not Disturb) Depending on how they are programmed, you can use the keys as: Function keys Page 78 Seected diaing keys Page 80 Each key can be programmed with an other unction Page 78 The status o a unction is shown by the LED on the corresponding unction key. R On The unction is activated. 1 In this manua, ashing keys are identiied by this icon, regardess o the ashing interva. The ashing interva represents dierent statuses, which are described in detai in the corresponding sections o the manua. Some o the programmabe keys on muti-ine phones can be set up as trunk keys Page 16. Trunk keys (on muti-ine phones ony) Some o the programmabe keys on muti-ine phones can be set up as trunk keys. Each key that is assigned the unction "ine" is handed as a ine. This means up to three ines can be conigured. A distinction is drawn here between primary, secondary and phantom ines. Each o these ine types can be used on a private or shared basis. Primary ine A muti-ine teephones have a primary ine. This ine can be reached in the usua manner via your pubic phone number. Incoming cas are signaed on this ine. To avoid conict between individua muti-ine phones, the unctions "Do not disturb" and "Ca orwarding" can ony be used or the primary ine. Secondary ine The secondary ine on your phone is used as a primary ine by another subscriber o the ine trunk group. Your primary ine, which is conigured on another teephone in the ine trunk group, simutaneousy unctions as the secondary ine on that teephone. Phantom ine Phantom ines are not used as primary ines by any teephones in the ine trunk group. Phantom ines are estabished when the number o ines provided by a communications system exceeds the number o avaiabe teephones.

Shared ine: A ine that is conigured on mutipe teephones. The ine status is dispayed or a teephones that share this ine. I, or exampe, a shared ine is being used by a teephone, a status message indicating that this ine is busy is dispayed on a other teephones ( Page 17). Direct ca ine: A ine with a direct connection to another teephone. You can see the status o the ine rom the LED: LED dispay LED Expanation S Not it The phone is in ide mode. In situations where text input is possibe, or exampe, when entering the user password, you can aso use the dia keys to enter text in addition to the digits and specia characters mentioned. To do this, press the numerica keys repeatedy. Exampe: To enter the etter "h", press the number 4 key on the keypad twice. When entering text, a characters avaiabe or the key pressed and the character seected are briey dispayed. Text editor Additiona options are avaiabe in the text editor. This is used when programming a orwarding destination, or exampe. In this way, you can, or exampe, move the cursor reey and copy or insert text. You can seect urther editor unctions via the navigation keys and conirm each one using OK key: OK: Appies changes and coses the editor Deete: Deetes characters rom right to et Cance: Discards changes and exits the editor Mode (here # key can aso be used to switch): 123: Digits ony ABC: Upper-case etters ony Abc: First etter in upper case, subsequent etters in ower case abc: Lower case etters ony Move cursor et: Moves the cursor to the et Move cursor right: Moves the cursor to the right Copy: Copies the entire content to the cipboard Paste: Inserts the entire content rom the cipboard to the cursor position

Ide mode I there are no cas taking pace or settings being made, your OpenScape Desk Phone IP 35G is in ide mode. Exampe: Press the Messages key to return to the ide dispay again, or exampe, rom a ca ist ( Page 24). To return to the ide dispay again rom the menu ( Page 26), press the key. You can aso conigure a "Show teephone screen" unction however or both cases (see Page 78) to return to the ide mode screen again. Inormation on actua events The oowing icons appear centered on the dispay when your phone is ide and signa current properties or events. Your attention wi be drawn to events in the second ine: Icon B Expanation You received new voice messages. New entries have been added to the ca ists. Loca ca orwarding is active. Message icon in ront o own phone number (repaced, or exampe, by ca orwarding or mobiity icon). Context menus I an arrow appears beside an entry in the second ine, a context menu whose options you can seect using the navigation keys < or : ( Page 16). The range o unctions avaiabe is situation-speciic. Consutation? Start conerence? Hod? Bind transer ca? Disconnect? First menu entry (seected on caup) Other menu options (hidden) Directed pickup? To deete ino-ony messages, press the Navigation key OK. Icons during a ca Icon { } Meaning The ca is active. High-quaity voice connection (G.722). The ca has been disconnected. You have paced the ca on hod (e.g. consutation hod). Your ca partner has paced the ca on hod. The voice connection is secure. The voice connection is not secure.

The LED on the Messages key ashes to signa new missed cas or messages Page 16. Press the Messages key and use the navigation keys to seect the required submenu. Voice mai Cas You can use the navigation keys to navigate through the menus as described on Page 16. Messages I conigured (contact the reevant administrator), this provides you with access to your maibox system e.g. HiPath Xpressions. I your system is appropriatey conigured, activating this unction opens the menu or voicemai Page 44. Cas This ist appears as soon as you receive new missed cas i you seect the Cas submenu in the Records menu. You can then scro up or down to reach the Cas submenu. The oowing cas or ca attempts are ogged as ca ists: Missed: Missed cas Diaed: Diaed cas (with or without connection) Received: Answered cas Forwarded: Forwarded cas The number o missed cas and unchecked cas is shown on the ide dispay. Contro unction The administrator has the option to activate and deactivate eatures o the phone via remote maintenance. During maintenance the handset, microphone, oudspeaker and headset are deactivated. You are additionay inormed on the dispay that the contro unction is active. Monitoring unction In order to detect maunctioning o a phone or exampe, the administrator instas a monitoring unction. You can use your phone as norma during monitoring. However you wi irst be inormed about the operation with a message on the dispay and prompted to aow monitoring. I administrator has activated a unction on your phone, which continuousy transmits operating data to a server, you wi see the ashing icon in the upper dispay ine. Activating a diagnostic ca In the event o connection probems with a speciic destination, the administrator may ask you to enter an activation code beore the number o the subscriber, which can be used to initiate tracing o the ca data on the phone. The activation code, which must be provided to you by the administrator and which comprises a eading asterisk, oowed by three digits and the hash sign as the terminating character, must be entered beore the actua phone number. At the end o the ca, the ca-reated data is sent or urther anaysis to the DLS server, which then passes it to the "Open- Scape Voice Trace Manager".

208 208 Fixing probems Fixing probems Caring or your teephone Never aow the teephone to come into contact with coouring, oiy or aggressive agents. Aways use a damp or antistatic coth to cean the teephone. Never use a dry coth. I the teephone is very dirty, cean it with a diuted neutra ceaner containing suractants, such as a dish detergent. Aterwards remove a traces o the ceaner with a damp coth (using water ony). Never use ceaning uids containing acoho or pastic-damaging detergents to cean the teephone. The use o scouring agents is aso orbidden. Troubeshooting Pressed key does not respond: Check i the key is stuck. I the teephone is ocked repdia keys cannot be used. This aso appies when an emergency number is saved on it. Check whether your teephone is ocked ("Phone ocked. To unock enter the PIN" appears on the screen). I the phone is ocked, unock it. The phone does not ring on ca: Check whether the ringtone is deactivated (see icon in the status bar on the dispay Page 144). I it is deactivated, activate the ringtone You cannot dia a number: Check whether your teephone is ocked ("Phone ocked. To unock enter the PIN" appears on the screen ).
